sometimes i just think about how depressing metal sonic's life is bc like genuinely one of the saddest characters ever if you actually think about it for five seconds. like imagine you're metal right. you've known nothing but killing and destruction. the only time you receive affection and kindness is when you hurt people. you know that your fathers other creations- your siblings in a way- face heavy verbal abuse and downright destruction if they fail, and deep down you know that’ll be you someday. because you are made for one purpose and despite everything you cannot seem to achieve it. you literally do not have the knowledge or life experience to understand why but even when you fight so hard you cause yourself severe, debilitating damage you cannot win. and even your own body is a reminder of that, because you’re designed to be a superior version of your target yet you cannot best him once. you’re forced into this perfect ideal you simply are not and have been since the moment you existed. you’ve been abandoned for extended periods of time if you fail at your impossible task, entirely alone with nothing but the thoughts of your failure. even when not being actively and deliberately neglected, you have no forms of distraction other than hurting things bc you are not treated as a person you’re treated as a prized possession and tool. and you also are like, three years old and have a personality based on a teenager so you're effectively like the equivalent to a fourteen year old. yeah i'd fucking have a breakdown and turn into a fuck off dragon too. and even after that like you'd have been forcibly modified both physically and mentally, your entire mind reset and reprogrammed to try and prevent you from ever having a shred of autonomy again and your voice being removed. while you are still very much sapient and also effectively a teenager. like damn no wonder metal fucking killed himself in the ova that’s the most depressing shit ever.
