Since Raiden himself used to be a child soldier, I’m curious as how he would react with a reader who was also a child soldier but has (somewhat) lived a normal life after being rescued.

The reader will still retain her fighting abilities but uses them for self defense rather than trying to be a soldier again, and has a lot of respect (and love) for Raiden for saving many children that would’ve become child soldiers and having a strong will. Specifically, Metal Gear Rising Raiden, because I love that version of Raiden so much.

I love that version of him too, it was my first exposure to Metal Gear and my favorite. 💜

MGR!Raiden x Child Soldier!Reader headcannons

-Raiden had it real rough as a child on the front lines, but he'd accepted it as his past and tried to move on. Hearing that you were just like him ignited a feeling of kinship within him, and though it also brought back dark memories, he ended up trusting you much faster than he would other people.

-He was so glad to hear you'd managed to escape the military and live a relatively normal life after war--something he wished he could have done.

-He wants to know how you coped with the crushing guilt and depression because of what you did, comparing your methods to his.

-He really admires you for doing what he never could, and hopes you could help him heal, mentally and emotionally.

-Though you'll never take up arms for a country or corporation ever again, you have no trouble raising your fists to defend your family.

-For this reason, Raiden has no need to worry about your safety when he's away because he trusts you can take care of yourself.

-You respect him as much, if not more than he respects you because he goes back and rescues children who are much like yourselves.

-He has a will of steel; a mind stronger than his artificially enhanced body, which has enabled him to push through all his trauma and live.

-Raiden is truly legendary and you never forget to remind him of that every single day.

-You guys hope that someday you can settle down and have kids of your own who will never have to fight or know violence and war.

FLUFFCEMBER DAY#25: (Raiden x Reader)

Spending Christmas together headcannons

-If you're planning a quiet Christmas with just the two of you, prepare to see Raiden's goofy side.

-The nanomachines responsible for his digestion will be unable to keep up with the amounts of spiked egg nogg that he consumes, leaving him heavily drunk for a while.

-Naturally, this results in eccentric behavior, from slurred jokes to really weird robotic dancing that usually ends in him tripping over something and falling over.

-Because of his drunken state, Raiden's behavior will be unpredictable and he will temporarily lose control of his bladder. It's best to keep him away from alcohol and confined to the bathroom until the nanomachines catch up.

-Now, if you decide you want to spend Christmas with your family, things will be very, very different.

-Raiden gets really never out around other people because he worries that other people will hate or judge him for being a cyborg. He's also afraid people will poke and prod him since they'll undoubtedly be curious about his metal body parts.

-He may or may not get along with your family, depending on their personalities and how they treat him. Of course, he won't be acting like some jerk, he'll try to make a good impression too.

-You could swear he started sweating when you formally introduced him to your parents. Odd, because he doesn't have sweat glands. There's always the possibility that he's leaking machine oil, but if that's true, he needs to be taken to Doktor, pronto.

-Because nanomachines regulate his digestion, he can eat as many cookies as he wants and not regret it a few hours later.

-Gets really emotional (on the inside, of course) whenever someone gives him a gift because it's not something he's used to.

-He does want to being something for your family too, but he will need your help to pick out gifts beforehand.

-In the end, he ends up enjoying the festivities, but he won't want to stay for too long because he, like most introverts, get nervous around crowds of people.

-Will decorate himself to look like a robot Santa, minus the beard and the round belly...and a jolly looking face...but still, it's the thought that counts!
