@attractthecrows submitted: my niece dragged me out of my room to ask about what kind of spider this was and unfortunately i couldn't tell her. any idea? (west texas)
How nice of your niece to show you such a great friend! It’s a jumping spider, Metacyrba taeniola. It has no common name as far as I know. Let’s make one up! We’ll call them all Richard.

hello again! i spotted this little jumping spider (i believe Metacyrba taeniola (subspecies taeniola)? i’m in east tn!) having a snack on a brown recluse, and thought you would like to see! :D
Holy cow, what a meal! Yes that ID looks right. RIP, recluse, but lil jumper has to eat. Really great photo, thank you for sharing!

@sieboldii submitted: hey, I found this funky thing in eastern Oklahoma, any idea what it might be?
I sure do have an idea. It’s a female jumping spider, Metacyrba taeniola. I love her rotund body and hope she gets to have one million tiny babies :)

Hi! It’s SoCAL desert guy again! This time, I found a mystery [jumping?] spider on my bed. I say that because of the eye formation and- well, the jumping, - but I’ve never seen a spider with such a stark contrast in coloration before. The abdomen and back two legs were brown with two white stripes, and the rest was all black!
As I was typing this, a bold jumping spider (Phidippus Audax) crawled across my wall. Bonus pictures of him too!
That is a very interestingly colored jumper! It looks like Metacyrba taeniola. And I always love to see bold jumpers so thank you for including them 🖤
