Sunday blessings, friends! How can I pray for you this week? 🙏🏼💗 #SundayBlessings #prayerrequests Today’s advent scripture is one of my favorite Christmas verses. In our broken world, losses, disappointment, and betrayal can wear us down and leave us longing for hope. Over 2,000 years ago, hope arrived in the form of the greatest super-hero the world has ever known. Someone with divine, supernatural powers to break every law of physics, heal every illness, and defy death’s hold on his own life as well as all as humanity’s. But one of Jesus’s most powerful legacies was the example he set: 1) Dismantling the lie of pride with humility -taking human form -birth in a manger -his station as a carpenter outside the circle of the educated & religious elite -his companionship with outcasts and outsiders -the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector 2) Soothing the sting of strife with forgiveness and the love of neighbor -The Golden Rule -the Good Samaritan -loving enemies, turning the other cheek -forgiving 7 times 70 times 3) Lifting the barriers to understanding our relationship with a loving God eager to reconcile with his lost children with his teachings. -The Prodigal Son -the parable of the lost sheep -the faith of a mustard seed -seek, ask & knock -light of the world & salt of the earth -the vine & branches -John 3:16 The embodiment of what Isaiah prophesied 700 years before his birth: WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, PRINCE OF PEACE. Our once and future King.
