Week 8

Daido Moriyama (Dog and Meshtights 2014-15) This photo shows an alleyway lined by bikes, greenery, and brightly lit signage and lamps. The contrast from the lights outside the bars is really strong in black and white and is reflected across water in the pathway. The mood is inviting but feels quite late at night since there aren't any people seen, but indirectly their presence is felt because of the bikes and businesses still welcoming customers. I put myself in Moriyama's place to acknowledge the presence of the photographer and to try understand or imagine what he may have been doing before or will do just after taking this photo. I could see him entering one of these bars and having something to eat and drink with some company just just before going home feeling fulfilled.

Photographic Series: Dog and Meshtights 

A) Comment on the composition of the photograph

The  photograph was taken centered and with the lighting appearing being in the front of the object being photographed which is the two cats. 

B) The light being used is in the front of the cats it appears to be unnatural light by the way the light is coming from the front.

C) The mood of the photograph seems to be friendly and peaceful because the two cats seem to have a close bond.

D) The photograph is of two cats being close together looking at the camera facing the opposite direction of each other.

E)The photograph could represent love and togetherness. It could also show that opposites attract as the two cats are polar opposite colors. 

3) The recreation of this photograph is black and white like the original photograph and the dogs facing the opposite directions looking directly at the camera just like the first photograph. The dogs have a very close bond which seems to be what the original photograph is trying to show as well. I learned a lot about centering the photograph and having a basic background from the using the original photograph to recreate mine. The photos are not completely similar as the lighting is not the same my photograph is slightly more blurred than the one I am recreating it after and the pets are not the same type of animal and the setting is different but the photo conveys the same message of comfort.

4) So far I have thought of a totally different idea for my series I think I am going to do a series based on my two dogs and the day and the life of them as I feel like it will be better for a series than by original plans.
