If there was one thing you liked about your job, it was the quiet hours at night where the coffee shop was open late. The only customers you had were college students and the occasional couple, infrequent enough that you had time to pull out your book, perch yourself on a stool behind the display case, and read; you and Minseok taking turns at the register when someone did come by. 

This late, though, with only an hour to go before you closed, the shop was dead empty. Probably because it was storming outside, rain gushing down in torrents. Even if you closed, you were both stuck here until it stopped pouring long enough for you to get home.  Minseok had started yawning a while ago, so you’d offered to stay up front while he went to the back room to take a nap. You weren’t expecting anyone to come in, so you were now left with just your book for company and a solid hour or more ahead for you to read in peace. 

That is, until the coffee shop door banging open startled you away from your quiet. A man stepped in, soaked to the bone, his umbrella hanging in a sad, inverted heap from its broken spokes. You shot up from the stool, standing by the register, trying not to let your curiosity show as you watched him shake the umbrella defeatedly. 

You cleared your throat after a good minute of him standing there, a puddle accumulating near his feet. He glanced up, as if surprised there was someone there. 

“Can I get you anything?” You gave him a warm smile, but it faltered when you noticed that he was very handsome. One of the most beautiful people you’d ever seen. As if that wasn’t bad enough, his shirt was wet enough that it had gone transparent, sticking noticeably to his chest. You wondered for a moment if he was actually there or if it was late enough and you’d had sufficient amounts of coffee for you to be hallucinating him. 

“Uh, yes, sorry,” he said, and fumbled in his back pocket for his wallet as he walked up to the counter. “A medium latte. Just a medium latte.” 

“Sure,” you said, expression calm, stealing a glance at him from over the counter. He was preoccupied, staring at something on his phone, so you had all the leeway to ogle. Perhaps ogle was too strong a word. You were admiring him, that’s what it was. 

You slid his latte across the counter, collecting his payment - exact change - with a slightly wistful sigh. “I hope you don’t mind if I stay here until it stops raining?”

“No, of course not,” you said. “We’re not closing anytime soon. You’re welcome to stay. Hey…” you glanced at the back room, brow furrowing. “I think we might have an extra dry shirt somewhere in the back.” 

The relief on his face was obvious. “I would really appreciate it, thank you.” 

You nodded once, turning on your heel to enter the back, careful not to wake Minseok who was fast asleep on a bench at the back. You grabbed the shirt from a closet and hurried back out. 

“Thank you so much,” he said, already reaching to unbutton at his neck. “I’ll pay you back somehow. Do you like dinner, sometime-”

You averted your eyes, chuckling. “Are you trying to seduce me?”

“No!” Then, realizing his shirt was half undone, and he was just proving your point, he let out an exasperated noise and hurried in the direction of the bathroom. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything inappropriate. I’m just freezing. And trying to show my gratitude.” His voice was muffled through the door. 

“It’s fine. This is probably the most entertaining thing that’s happened my whole shift.” Not to mention you weren’t exactly complaining at the view.

“Good to know.”

Mythology!AU

god the mythology au is so OLD it’s b.a.p fanfic. So it’s based on greek mythology and Youngjae is basically the medusa aka petrifies people when he looks at them and he is not enjoying it. he doesn’t have snake hair tho. but yeah daehyun is nothing if not persistent abt his crush on youngjae. 

A few dayslater Yoo Youngjae found himself once again next to Daehyun, eating. This time,it was pizza. Maybe Daehyun had some weird kink where he wanted to feed people.Youngjae wasn’t going to question the habit of bringing food though because,well, it was food. And he liked food.

Plus,Daehyun’s company was distracting him. There wasn’t a whole lot to do on hisown besides surfing the internet the whole day and reading. And feeling sorryfor himself.

“Why areyou out here, living alone? A handsome young man such as yourself must have aninterest in spending time with people his age.”

“You soundabout seventy-two years old. And a few months.”

“Maybe Iam. It’s not like you have seen me yet.” A pause. “Well, that might have been abit rude.” And Youngjae was pretty sure, had he been able to look at Daehyunwithout killing him, that the other man was currently blushing. He didn’t mindthe joke. It was without any malicious intent, merely teasing.

“Do youbelieve in gods? Magic and such?”, Youngjae asked instead.

“Is thatthe point where you tell me I will forever roast in hell for my sin of makingthis stupid joke? I do, though. Do you?”

“I’m prettysure you will roast in hell for plenty other things as well” – an outragedsound of disagreement – “Yes, I do. I didn’t use to but… I’m not actuallyblind, you know?”

There wassilence. “You’re not? Why are you pretending you are? Why are you wearing thisblindfold?”

“I wascursed. If I meet people’s eyes… If I look in their face – well, actually Idon’t know for sure what does it, but it petrifies them. Literally. Like inHarry Potter and the Chamber of secrets, you know? Or the Medusa. It sucks. Andpetrification has this side effect of killing people and since I don’t want towalk around randomly killing people…”

A pause.

“Well,shit.”
