@unwaivering:
Arthurâs cheeks burned as he heard Merlin speaking. Could he blame him for being on edge? No. Uther scared him senselessly with the whippings he endured. No telling what he would do if his heir to the throne had magic. âThank you. I knew you were trustworthyâŚâ He finally said. Seeing as he closed his hands and out came a butterfly, he raised his brows, relaxing finally. âYou⌠had magic this whole time?â He could hardly believe a fool like Merlin could hide in plain sight. âHow do you do it? Day in and out? Doesnât it get tiring?â
Merlin nodded slowly, worried about displaying his own magic to someone. But, he wanted to make Arthur relax and make sure that he knew he wasnât alone. He wished someone had mentioned Arthur himself having magic while babbling on about destiny, they could have shared this sooner. âItâs exhausting⌠But, Iâve known from my first day here that it would get me killed if anyone ever found out. Thatâs a pretty good motivator to stay hidden. Though saving your royal backside causes some close calls⌠I wish Iâd known about your magic, Arthur⌠I would have told you sooner. I just didnât want to make you afraid of me. I didnât want to put you in a position where you had to turn me over.â

Merlin shook his head, pointedly moving a bit further from Arthur. "My king is being a proper ass..." It was embarrassing enough without Arthur actively commenting on it. He didn't want to keep talking about it, but it seemed Arthur wasn't going to leave it be. "You're the idiot that drove us into this stupid cold in the first place. You're the idiot." He kicked Arthur's leg, refusing to turn back around to slap at him.
Seeing the look upon his face, he couldn't help to shake his head at him. The king knew alot of things, the council was pressuring him to marry. He said he wouldn't less it was love. They all pointed to Guinevere. Saying how wise she was and a good fit, the people would love a servant to become queen. He fought it because deep down he rather be with Merlin. Arthur just needed the courage to say how he felt. He swore he saw the red tint of a blush on his features. When he returned, he couldn't help but the chuckle. "Really, Merlin. Are you that embarrassed? Or do you not like your king?"

â - RANDOM (mun chooses) (From Merlin to Arthur)
Sleepy Sex Meme â - RANDOM (mun chooses)
â - spooning your muse from behind, in their sleep, and grinding against them.
Merlin and Arthur slept beside each other on missions all the time, but it had never been so cold out and Merlin had never been quite this exhausted. They'd been on this stupid mission for days and Merlin had barely slept as he tried to watch over Arthur. He whined, turning in toward Arthur and pressing against his back. Merlin softly said Arthur's name in his sleep, grinding against him. He wasn't thinking, too tired to pull dreams from reality.

"I swear it's not what it looks like." Arthur said trying his best to cover up the fact that Merlin just caught him with his grimoire and reading it in his room was enough to cause the prince to get defensive. It didn't help he didn't know Merlin's stance on the magic ban.
Merlin quickly nodded, raising his hands up to make himself look less worrisome. "It's alright, Arthur... It's alright. I'm not going to tell anyone. I wouldn't want to get you into any trouble." No, quite the opposite. His entire purpose was to protect Arthur and that included this. He did, however, wish that he'd been warned that Arthur had magic. That would have made life easier. "Here... Look." He closed his hands, making a butterfly and releasing it. "I swear, Arthur. You're safe here."

Merlin shook his head, biting at his lower lip to keep himself a bit more even-tempered. He didn't want to be angry or sad, but it was difficult to keep his emotions in check. They'd been hiding magic from each other and it made so much sense now. "You don't have to fight with him, Arthur... Nobody expects you to. I understand."
He knew that Arthur had an aversion to touch, but Merlin took the reciprocation of the shoulder touch to mean that they were alright. Merlin carefully wrapped his arms around Arthur, hugging him. "It's alright, we can just talk to each other now... We don't have to hide. I just... I've been trying to do everything right, to keep you safe and make sure you take Uther's place on the throne so you can fix all of this. I'm so sure that you will, even without the dragon and his riddles."
Arthur had been saying this since he was at least nine. Since his magic came to light. With Shirya's influence, he leaned in the old ways of Albion. With that brought the Goddess' blessing. Once he felt Merlin touch his shoulder, he breathed out finally. It had been pent up for a long while. Him hiding his magic had become a chore. Even more so when he had snuck out of the palace to go worship properly. "I still feel like I should do something. Stand up, but each time I do... he whips me publicly to make me an example."
It made him feel powerless in that sense. "Please do us all a favor and don't listen to that dragon. He's more trouble than he's worth. If he causes you a fuss, tell him I said so. He can tell me off." Rolling his eyes, he patted Merlin's shoulder back. "You're not alone anymore, you hear. You don't have to hide from me anymore."

Merlin froze as Arthur said he was grinding into him, looking at literally anything other than Arthur as he tried to hide how hard he was blushing. It felt like there was enough heat in his face that it could relight the fire without issue. He sighed, dropping a log on the fire and returning. Merlin pointedly turned to face away from Arthur, preferring the cold to the humiliation of possibly grinding against Arthur again.
"You were grinding into me, idiot." He bit back as he saw the glare into him. "Control your wet dreams, Merlin. Go back to sleep then. Just don't be humping my leg in the process." Was he grumpy from lack of sleep, yes and he was taking it out on him. If Arthur was alone, he would have used magic to keep the fire going. With Merlin there, he couldn't use his gifts. "Just throw the wood on and get back here. I'm freezing." Pendragon complained. All this armor and he could still feel the cold. In the back of his mind was the image of Merlin grinding against his back. It was enough to make his cheeks flushed. Now was not the time.

Merlin groaned as Arthur nudged him awake, rubbing his eyes. "What?" He glared at him, recognizing that there wasn't any danger. He didn't want to be awake if they were safe, smacking Arthur's shoulder once he realized it was fine. "I was trying to sleep, you ass." He was a bit more irritable than normal because he was so worn from the journey and he had been having a good dream. He ran his hand over his face, looking at the fire. "Since I'm awake, I should tend to that fire... Won't be good if it goes out on us."
@xxonceuponafuckxx continued from here.
Arthur could stay awake if he wanted too, but he was too dead tired from the walking. They had lost the horses a few days ago on their way back and now were forced to walk back to Camelot. Well, until they got to a village that could afford to give them a horse. His eyes fluttered half way shut as he was drifting asleep when he felt Merlin come closer. Hearing the whine, he did open his eyes and after a moment felt the manservant grinding on him. Never was Merlin that bold. Even with his armor in the way, he could feel the closeness. It hadn't been far out of his mind before. He did think Merlin was attractive, but never acted on it or even thought to go that far with him. "Merlin..." Pendragon didn't know if he was aware of what he was doing as he glanced back to see his eyes closed. Nudging him in his side hard enough to stir even him, he repeated his name. "MERlin."

Merlin had heard Arthur say that he wanted to change the laws before, but he'd always assumed it was on how the knights were run. He knew that Arthur wanted anyone to be able to become a knight and that he wanted to be more collaborative with them rather than barking orders. But, it seemed that it might actually be the laws on magic as well. And he was surprised. He'd expected to have to fight for it. He nodded, gently touching Arthur's shoulder. "Hey, I know... You can't do anything until this is your kingdom. I understand. At least, now we know that we don't have to hide from each other."
He laughed a bit, rolling his eyes. "Believe me, I know... My first night here, that damn dragon wouldn't let me sleep and he's been throwing riddles at me ever since. It's just... I guess I liked the idea that this was going to eventually change and that I could help. I wanted to not hide forever so badly, that I'd listen to anything."
"I do wish to change the laws." He's said that before. It was nothing new to those who knew him. Arthur just didn't tell them what laws exactly. "Maybe we will change them. Until my father dies, nothing is going to happen." He never spoke like that to anyone. Pendragon was careful who he let in because he felt his father had eyes everywhere. Uther was paranoid. He showed him that much. "The Great Dragon? Merlin, Dragons are worse at riddles and truths than priestesses." He was shocked he would even listen to a Dragon's word.

"Most people would have... I thought about it myself, but you obviously needed me. And they promised that we were going to make things better." Merlin sighed, crossing his arms over his chest. "The dragon from under the castle. He isn't the most forthcoming with information, but he said it's destiny. Believe me, plenty of questions have gone unanswered." He didn't like acknowledging just how little information he'd been given to risk himself to stay close to Arthur.
"You probably more than others." He said dryly. Arthur knew it all too well. It was why he didn't take his shirt off anymore in front of Merlin. The last whippings left scars on his back that he was ashamed of. "If I was you, I would have walked the other way." Instead of going into the heart of it all. That would have been the smart thing to do. "Whose they?" Pendragon caught on to that much. He was speaking about a person? Maybe someone like Shirya was to him. His adoptive mother sometimes spoke in riddles. It annoyed him to no end.

Merlin nodded, sighing and crossing his arms. "You think I don't know that?" He laughed a bit, but there wasn't any real humor to it. It was more nerves than anything. He was still a little shocked. "The moment I stepped foot in Camelot, it was the first thing I saw... Believe me, I am plenty terrified to be here. But, I was told that we're meant to fix all of this. I was told you needed me here to achieve your destiny. I just wish they gave me more than riddles."
Arthur couldn't do anything but stand there. Head tilted as he waited for him to speak, he wondered why Shirya never told him of Merlin having magic. Part of him felt like he should have seen the signs. Even as clumsy as he was, there were times he showed wisdom above all things. "You are a fool for coming to Camelot. My father would no sooner than to have us both hanged." He bit his lip at thinking about it. Shaking his head, he reached over and put a hand on his shoulder to comfort him. "It's the past now. All we can do is move forward. You know now."
