💛: what is the title based on?

The Tales of Merlia series' title is based on the ancient mermaid kingdom that fell from grace. The kingdom of Merlia was the first kingdom of merpeople, stemming back to ancient times. It was also the first kingdom to fall. But not the last. So, the tales of merpeople are the Tales of Merlia.

The Nimbus Saga is based on the concept of how air and water form clouds, and eventually storms together. Take into account the powers the MCs possess, it makes sense.

A Tale of Moonstone and Heather is the most simple out of the two. Moonstone and Heather are the nicknames Aster and Orion gave each other.

💚: how long have you been working on it?

Tales of Merlia started out as small series of stories I wrote in 2010. I no longer have the files for those stories, I was probably in fourth or fifth grade at the time and the computer I wrote it on is long gone. I didn't really start developing it into the series it is now until I believe in the summer of 2017 (I am really bad at timelines and have an awful memory. It is by far my oldest WIP.

The Nimbus Saga was developed during lockdown, in 2020. So...it's my youngest WIP for sure.

A Tale of Moonstone and Heather was created in the summer of 2019 I believe.

In Tales of Merlia, the main character is Delilah Mathers, and her two best friends, Merlin Windsplash and Pepper Whippertail. They are under the care of Torrent Lazulite Winters.

In the Nimbus Saga, the main character is Aither Thorin. He works under the Monarch of Candos, King Caspian the Kind.

There are three main characters in A Tale of Moonstone and Heather. Aster Isadore Laroux Whelan, Orion Bram Whelan, and Aria Melrose Leonard.

But for characters? Merlin takes music really seriously. He’s training to become a world famous pianist, and plays piano whenever he can. He sings sometimes too, but he’s very shy about it and not very confident. 

It is said however that once he starts playing and gets into it, he doesn’t seem to notice the world around him. Merlin knows as well as I do that music is a huge part of emotion and mood, and he knows it has the power to make people smile. And so, he will perform to close friends.

ppssssst, his favorite piece to perform would be this one. He found the sheet music in Torrent’s house next to an old dusty piano. The song was longer, but the other sheets have been lost and this was all he could find of the song. He found it beautiful, filling his mind with memories he didn’t know he had. 

When Torrent caught him playing the sheet music, he thought he would be in trouble, but Torrent sat down on the couch, and told him to play it again. She fell asleep to the music, tears in her eyes and a smile on her face.

That was the moment Merlin knew what music did to people. And the first time he had ever seen Torrent smile.

Lucy let out a yowl downstairs, making Merlin leave his room, now dawning a large leather jacket and a striped blue and white buttoned shirt.

“Oh I know, you’re starvin’, no one loves you,” he crooned down the stairs.

Lucy let out another dramatic yowl downstairs, looking up at Merlin as though she had never been fed in her life.

When you have a cat has a schedule to keep, they will let you know.
