Spring time means...flowers? And boys in love, apparently. I usually don't like drawing flowers, but digital vs. traditional is super different, so I might have to reconsider since it was actually nice?!! I guess it depends what kind of flower you draw, and thankfully carnations are on the easier side and floofy. You can also view This Heart of Mine on AO3. This piece was drawn for @merlintarotfest using The Citadel Oracle Deck for a card reading of The Shepherd (celebration and/or family), The Thief (seizing the moment and/or selfishness), and The Acolyte: (new projects and/or learning). Also fills a @merlinbingo artist square using the hex color #4FB477 (aka a really gorgeous and nice green for the spring!).

And okay, I guess my inspo really wanted to see soft boys having a stolen moment of love. I'm going to assume Arthur and Merlin don't have a lot of time to take a breather to express their feelings for each other openly, so in this moment, that's what they get. That's totally what they deserve too, right? More love and hugs and Nice Things. I actually like how this piece came out, considering that this derived from a WIP I ended up scrapping, but what totally influenced my colour palette. Sometimes, going with the flow can make some magical things happen. Anyway, happy April, and if it's nice where you are, go enjoy the outdoors!

“Merlin!” Gwaine calls after the figure hurriedly walking away, and his voice booms in the empty passage. Merlin doesn’t slow down, so Gwaine trots after him. Stumbles. Catches himself against the wall. When he finally catches up to Merlin, he grabs him by the shoulders and flips him against the wall. A bit more forcefully than he intended, perhaps, but. The wine. Treacherous thing. “You deaf?” he asks Merlin, and tries to flash him his most charming smile. Merlin doesn’t appear charmed. He looks annoyed, which means Gwaine’s smile probably just looked stupidly drunk. Which is exactly how Gwaine feels. Stupid, and drunk.

Taking another deep breath, Arthur asked himself, for the thousandth time, what would Merlin say if he was here?

The image of Merlin riding next to him came quickly, painfully so.

"Your first act as King was lifting the ban, they may still be suspicious, but that’s a good first step on making peace with the magic community.”

He clenched his fists tighter, careful not to pull on the reins as he did so. And wished for things he could not change. - Now king, Arthur goes to meet the Druid leader, Emrys, to make peace.

Oh, hey! First time drawing Merthur in...over a decade? Whoops. I've never drawn these two in a muted colour way before, so this was fun! You can also view Waiting For This Moment on AO3. Drawn for @merlintarotfest using the tarot card reading of Ace of Cups (love and/or new relationships), Three of Cups (celebration) and The Chariot (action and/or determination). Also fills in a @merlinbingo artist square using the hex color #5DFDCB (aka bright aqua green). I didn't realise how much I missed drawing these two dummies until I started making this piece. I always keep saying hair is awesome to draw, but gods, I have to thank Arthur and Merlin for having simple and nice hair to work with. Bless. 🙏🥰 And the influence of water definitely came from the Cups cards, since we think of emotions as things that flow between us. I could definitely see water symbolising that in a tangible manner, and lbh, there are so many Feels between Merthur that it made sense to portray them as vulnerable and you know, finally accepting what they have with each other. This might be my cue to start drawing more Merlin art again. Let me know if you'd like to see more!

Check out the updated FAQs/Rules HERE. This round we have made a few changes, such as allowing multiple card pulls if you complete a fanwork based on your first, and allowing requests for oracle card meanings (only if a guidebook was included with the deck - check the carrd site to see which decks have guidebooks). Reminder that you can request a tarot-only pull AND an oracle-only pull at the same time by filling out the form twice. You can then create 2 fanworks or use both pulls to inspire 1 fanwork.

Fest Info: The Merlin Tarot Fest is a fanfic and fanart challenge using tarot and oracle cards as prompts. The fanworks do not need to focus on or even include tarot, but rather will be inspired by randomly pulled card(s). Each participant will be given their own card/card combination to inspire them! You will be able to decide if you want 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 cards for your inspiration. You will also be able to choose your pull from a limited selection of different tarot & oracle decks.

Requirements: For fanfic, writers must write a story of at least 750 words. For fanart, artists must create at least 1 piece.

He makes a proposal to the king and his two children; fund Merlin's expedition to the Isle of the Blessed, and Merlin will bring back knowledge of great healing magic that might just save the king's life. While Princess Morgana and King Uther both reject his proposal, the king's bastard son Lord Arthur Pendragon has a different idea. Using his own money, he puts together a team. Merlin, the historian. Gwen, the cartographer. And Arthur's old friend from school, Gwaine, the muscle.

Together, along with Gwen's brother Elyan who they pick up along the way, they sail to the Isle of the Blessed in search of the Crystal Cave without King Uther any the wiser. Magic, adventure, and romance abound, and it's a race against the clock to find the cave before King Cenred!

This is the fist chapter of my submission for @merlintarotfest I will admit that this story kicked my ass a bit, as I was trying something new, but I think it turned out the way I hoped in the end! I hope you all enjoy the first chapter!
