@thewickedandthehufflepuffĀ replied to your postĀ ā€œā€œas a ranking member of The Genfic Squad, what is it with you and love...ā€
julia besides oklahoma what are some of your fave love stories?? :D
thank you for asking!
i guess the most obvious and probably the quintessential one would be romeo & juliet, which is kind of an interesting case because my interest in the actual love story at its heart was very much a ā€œboil the frogā€ scenario. when i first got into r&j i was pretty solely interested in mercutio, and i would get bored with the rest of the play after he died, but the more productions i saw the more romeo and julietā€™s story started to get to me (i guess itā€™s a good thing you canā€™t skip over the ending when youā€™re seeing a play, haha). itā€™s one of those things where itā€™s so cliche at this point and the famous lines are so famous that you kind of have to step back and remember that it kind of set the cliches, you know? the famous lines are famous for a reason. when you see the balcony scene done well it is so earnest and pure that itā€™s hard for me not to get sympathetic butterflies and get a little wistful for an honest, youthful love like that.
on the other end of the timeline at ā€œmost recentā€ iā€™d cite hadestown, and maybe even narrow it further down to ā€œwait for me,ā€ which is my favorite song from every iteration of it. like, itā€™s hard to articulate exactly What It Is, you know, but just the. feeling. of a love so desperate that someone would sing their way into hell for it? like, that is what iā€™m talking about. that is what iā€™m looking for. and i feel like a lot of romcoms and slashfics and things of that nature kind of self-consciously skirt around stuff like that in favor of something more realistic and messy and self-aware, and iā€™m not saying thatā€™s wrong or bad or that i canā€™t enjoy those kinds of stories from time to time, but idk. maybe iā€™m just Soft, but iā€™ll take r&j and hadestown and oklahoma! (whose plot iā€™m admittedly shaky on after all these years but ā€œPEOPLE WILL SAY WEā€™RE IN LOVEā€!!!!) and song of achilles and if we were villains and pride and prejudice (2005) over literally any love triangle in any YA novel, ever.

Thank you so much for the tag, @dreadpirate! Mine too comes with a caveat ā€“ not only are these premades as opposed to sims in general, but theyā€™re my faves of all time. Given my current slow-as-heck gameplay style I havenā€™t had much of a chance to get attached to the Uberhood spawn yet... honorable mentions someday perhaps?
Read on for my rambling descriptions of why I love these little pastries, and I tag literally anybody who sees this and fancies doing the same ā€“ Iā€™d love to see all your favorites!
My favorite sims premades of 2018!
Chloe Curious An abrasive Romance sim who attacks first and asks questions later, probably as a means of defense; most likely has trust and abandonment issues. Hates her non-Lola roommates at first but slowly lets down her walls, gaining the best friends EVAR (and ends up with Kristen ā€“ OTP For Lyf). I usually put her in the Journalism career so she can earn cash via her adorably gossipy and inquisitive nature. Relaxes by gardening, has a blog calledĀ ā€˜Green Thumbs (No Literally)ā€™. Queen of the Bisexuals| (P.S. It was really hard to choose a single Single because I adore them all, hence Erin being my avatar)Ā
William Williamson There is method in my madness ā€“ let me explain. First his name is hilarious, who does that to a child. Secondly heā€™s clearly coerced himself into a Fortune aspiration given heā€™s not interested in money or work, which in my head means he aspires more to what money can provide for him (high food, culture, entertainment interests), implying a financially difficult background. I have also bestowed upon him the titleĀ ā€˜Gay Seth Cohenā€™ if youā€™ve ever seen The OC. If you have Guy Wrightley and Will be remotely interested in the same gender they usually have triple bolts, which is saccharine-level adorable
Ophelia Nigmos Canonically suffering with anxiety based on her bio, letā€™s be honest ā€“ that endears her enormously. But she has a decent amount of outgoing points so I donā€™t see her as a delicate flower needing to be rescued by a knight (like stop with that bio Johnny); rather I see her as like Alison from The Breakfast Club, her weirdness is part of her charm and sheā€™s pretty badass. Her Music & Dance hobby and early noughties era Avril Lavigne getup clearly mean sheā€™s meant to join a righteous pop punk band, right?
Mercutio Monty Has one of those goofy adorable faces you canā€™t help but love. Too cute to ever be mad at. Shakespeare has been a huge part of my academic life and I always loved Mercutio in all his iterations ā€“ an adorable and cocky prankster who doesnā€™t want to be part of the feud, but gets embroiled in it anyway. I interpret Hermiaā€™s dual (mutual) crushes as she, Puck and Mercutio being part of a polyamorous triad. Shakespeare Mercutio is heavily implied to be gay or at least bisexual, performances usually include lots of homoerotic tension between he and Tybalt, so instead of accidentally killing each other they can live happily ever after (thanks Sims)
Dina Caliente Spent a lot of time with this sweet little cinnamon roll last year, and she doesnā€™t disappoint. Iā€™m a huge Nina fan too but Dina just edged out with her bathtub pirate goofball optimism. Itā€™s interesting that EAxis sets her up as a gold-digging villain when sheā€™s literally HUGGABLE; plus controversy alert, she and Mort are way more compatible than Bella and Mort omg. Sim equivalent of a Shiba Inu puppy, just wants nice things, love, and attention (on her own terms). I see her as The One That Got Away for Don because sheā€™s the only one who didnā€™t woohoo him (not counting Cass). Ordered a Baked Alaska for her dinner at a fancy restaurant in my game and in doing so ordered my heart too and kept itĀ šŸ’Ÿ
Jasmine Rai Jazz is a painfully shy Popularity sim. This is not a drill ā€“ a painfully shy Popularity sim. Clearly her aspiration comes from her rockstardom dreams but just let Jazz autonomously do her own thing in any social situation and try not to squeal at your computer screen... her most common interaction isĀ ā€˜admireā€™, but she looks so scared when sheā€™s about to do it and you just want to hug her and tell her everything will be okay. One of her best friends is Sorority Princess Sarah Love and you wouldnā€™t put them together ordinarily but I feel like every walk of life loves Jazz, sheā€™s as sweet as a pear drop. I let her make toy robots and have her change her hair color every week like Ramona Flowers

So I got tagged by @plathcamusdostoyevskyjaggerā€‹ and Iā€™ve got nothing to do so what the hell
rules: answer the questions and tag 20 blogs youā€™d like to get to know better
nicknames: Iā€™m Keith. Iā€™ve got several nicknames, most of which are too explicit or embarrassing to divulge, but some of the okay ones are Evangeline (donā€™t ask), Thunder Talon, and Cream Cheese.
time right now:Ā 4 in the afternoon
last thing i googled:Ā dragon age 2 isabela approval because I looooooove her. Before that, probably something for my forensics class.
fave music artist:Ā For me, a future music ed major, thatā€™s like asking anthropologist their favorite bone. JUST TO NAME A FEW *drumroll* Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Dvorak, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Iver, Lifehouse, Ed Sheeran, The Chainsmokers, The Arctic Monkeys, Panic! at the Disco, Iron & Wine (<3), Owl City, Hozier, The Fray, twentyoneĀ pilots, Fall Out Boy, MCR, Mike Oldfield, Maggie Rogers, The Moody Blues, The Civil Wars, Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits, Lake Street Dive, Sigur Ros, and it goes on for miles. song stuck in my head:Ā Shape of You by Ed Sheeran. I was dictating it for a friend of mine a few nights ago and itā€™s been there ever since. last movie i watched:Ā My Cousin Vinny last tv show i watched:Ā Bones what iā€™m wearing now:Ā jeans, and a tee about The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe. when i created this blog:Ā January 2015 methinks? Too long the kind of stuffĀ
i post: I would like to think this is a music blog, but itā€™s turned into social justice and video games. Not even video games, just Dragon Age and Mass Effect.Ā
do i have other blogs: nah. Oneā€™s enough.Ā
do i get asks regularly: literally never. The last one I got asked what my Myers-Briggs personality type (((which is INFP, if youā€™re interested)))
why did i choose my url: Leliana is a character from Dragon Age: Origins and she, among being an assassin and the future spymaster of the Inquisition, is a bard and has a lovely voice. I thought what better way to mesh video games and music with putting her voice with Mozartā€™s Requiem. Iā€™ve had many, many other URLs, however.Ā
gender: Iā€™m non-binary. Iā€™m cool with he and they. Using both interchangeably is cool too.Ā

fave color: Purplish shades of blue. Also dark reds. (((I'm colorblind tho, so it makes things hard)))Ā
average hours of sleep: pretty good. Like 6-8. And I'm still depressed and anxious as hell. HAHĀ
favorite characters: Morrigan, Anders, Isabela, Dorian, and Varric from Dragon age. Garrus, Liara, Wrex, Captain Anderson, and Legion from Mass Effect. Stitch from Lilo and Stitch. Scar. Judge Frollo. Mercutio and Benvolio. Joel and Ellie from the last of us. Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Oberyn Martell, Margaery Tyrell, Renly Baratheon, and Tyrion Lannister.Ā
dream job: flute teacher at a university somewhere while working as a member of a major orchestra. But I'd settle for a professor of music at a university.
number of blankets i sleep with: just two. I'm a living furnace, so I don't get cold too often.Ā
tagging: Iā€™ve followed some of these people for ages and I still barely know some of them:
@themusicaltrichster @nerdfighterwhatevernumbers @dudewheresmynug @baku @nerds-r-people-too @you-had-me-at-e-flat-major @vorchagirl @valeroyeaux @pianistical @my-mother-mercury @lightgetsout @forget-the-binary @dearzevranĀ @tired-alexander @grandenchanterfiona @marictheirin

OOC WEEK: DAY FIVE
Favourite band(s): SHINee, Blackpink, Red Velvet (kpop trash tbh like donā€™t judge me), Hurts, Seafret, Sleeping at Last, Head and the Heart etc.
Favourite song(s): Jonghyun - White T-Shirt (literally omg my boy I canny deal with it), SHINee - Married to the Music (never forget how great this song is like yes boys slaayyy), Blackpink - Whistle, Hurts - Some Kind of Heaven, Head and the Heart - Another Story etc.
Favourite book(s): Oh boy, this is gonna be a long one. Prince of Shadows - Rachel Cain (an awesome retelling of Romeo and Juliet through the eyes of Benvolio, it gives such great insight into the Montagues and Capulets and really fleshes out the characters, it made me love Mercutio about a billion times more, my sweet babe). The Night Circus - Erin Morgenstern (just a really beautifully written book with such detail and imagination, set in a circus where two real magic users battle against each other by creating attractions). The Forbidden Game - L.J.Smith (I love a lot of L.J.Smithā€™s work but this one in particular was immense tbh, I canā€™t really explain much without huge spoilers but if you get the chance to read it you should, itā€™s three stories in one but all about the same people and itā€™s just a great read). The Grimm Legacy - Polly Shulman (an awesome story about a girl who ends up working at a library that lends out objects rather than books, and thereā€™s basically a secret department where objects from fairy tales said to be myths are kept and as you can imagine that comes with a great deal of trouble). Splintered - A.G.Howard (based on Alice in Wonderland itā€™s a much darker story about one of Aliceā€™s ancestors in the modern world, itā€™s really awesome and tbh Iā€™m in love with the new Mad Hatter, heā€™s like... beaut, real book crush for sure). Seraphina - Rachel Hartman (omg so this is just such a great book, first in the series and I havenā€™t read the otherā€™s yet, basically set in a world where dragons can shift to look like humans and live among them and thereā€™s this sort of treaty stopping the two rival species from hurting each other but itā€™s all very fragile and itā€™s just such a great book and all the dragon canons are SO GREAT). Wildthorn - Jane Eagland (itā€™s about a girl who basically ends up in a mental institute in Victorian England despite the fact that sheā€™s not mental, thereā€™s awesome flashbacks into her childhood as she tries to figure out why sheā€™s actually there and *spoiler* thereā€™s a wonderful lesbian romance). The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy (itā€™s got some pretty intense themes in this book so Iā€™d be cautious reading it, some parts literally made me feel a bit sick but thatā€™s sort of the idea, itā€™s still really beautifully written and itā€™s sort of about a girl returning to India and her old family home and reflecting back on things that happened in her past that she didnā€™t understand at the time? The really interesting thing is the flashbacks when you see things through her and her twinā€™s eyes as children and itā€™s sort of this horrible thing where as a reader you know whatā€™s going on and you understand situations that they so clearly donā€™t... but itā€™s a lot about her realising that too, that things happened when she was a child that she didnā€™t understand until later and sort of the consequences of not understanding things?? Basically itā€™s really intense but great). Jackson Pearceā€™s Fairy Tale Re-Tellings (e.g. Sisters Red, Sweetly, Fathomless. Basically really cool books that take old fairy tales and switch them up, plus also really awesome thereā€™s subtle connections between all of them which I got mainly through Sweetly & Fathomless. I read them in the order I listed though cause thatā€™s the order they were written, and Sisters Red is a great book to start with anyway, itā€™s basically a re-telling of Little Red Riding Hood about two sisters- itā€™s also written a chapter at a time in their POV- who fight/hunt werewolves).
Favourite quote: ā€œHarold, you have forced me to do something I really didnā€™t want to do... My diet is ruined and I hope youā€™re happy.ā€ - Fairy Godmother, Shrek 2. (Ok but for real I canā€™t think of just one favourite quote but the Shrek films always crack me up)
Favourite movie(s): Oh boy, another long one. LOTR series, extended editions, of course, because theyā€™re just generally great movies and I love them so much, wonā€™t even lie I reckon LOTR holds a higher priority in my heart than HP, I just literally canā€™t fault them. I love Disney films, literally so much. the animated ones in particular and tbh I could probably say that either Mulan or Pocahontas are my faves. Bleach: Fade to Black, cause the whole movie is basically an honour to my OTP of the series and itā€™s all I ever needed/wanted out of the series but never really got... canonly, at least. Honestly, I could go on forever but to be quick one of my favourite movies of all time is Cloud Atlas. If you havenā€™t seen/read Cloud Atlas then itā€™s a story broken down into multiple smaller narrations and time periods, though the great thing about it is all these seemingly random people and places are all connected and you realise that as you go along. Itā€™s got a really great narration, rather than telling one story middle to end and then starting the next it switches between all of them, giving it a really nice pace and also allowing clues and connections to build up more steadily. I wonā€™t lie, at times itā€™s tragically sad but I think the message of the whole film is sort of beautiful, the whole idea really is that people are all connected to each other through time and over distance so you should live your life with that in mind, trying to make the differences you can for all the people you may help in the future. Itā€™s basically a beautiful film with an amazing cast (Ben Whishaw is the sweetest, prettiest bean in it tbh I canny deal) and I would recommend anyone to watch it.
Favourite tv shows: Doctor Who, Teen Wolf, The 100, The Magicians, Great British Bake Off, Shadowhunters, Sense8, Stranger Things, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Game of Thrones etc. etc. (I could go on forever tbh).
Are you active in any fandoms right now?: Yes and no? It depends what you mean by active, if you mean do I actively freak out and stan all my fandoms then the answer is yes, always, never stop.
What fandoms were you active in?: The Sherlock Holmes fandom, and I sawĀ ā€˜wereā€™ because Iā€™m still a fan but I actually, and donā€™t hate me, really hate the TV series. I just think there are so many faults with it, so many things not quite right about the characters, and to be perfectly honest I think the whole thing about Sherlock Holmes, what made him so damn impressive, was his ability to solve these crimes in a time where they didnā€™t have all this modern equipment to help him out. He was a genius because he just used his mind, raw talent, in a time where solving crimes was a hell of a lot more difficult. I think setting the series in modern day London takes some of the thrill out of it, heā€™s still smart but he has all this extra help and all this fancy science to back up and check everything for him. Took the magic out of Sherlock Holmes for me, so Iā€™m holding out for the third movie and then maybe Iā€™ll jump back in (tbh RDJ and JL make a much better Holmes and Watson too, their chemistry is more natural and their relationship in general feels more believable to me).
What tv shows or movies did you watch as a child that were fundamental to how you grew up?: Scooby Doo. Always and forever. It was just great, amazing, that this group of individuals all had different talents, interests and skills but came together to solve mysteries simply because they could and enjoyed it. Also most Disney things, Iā€™m a Disney kid through and through.
Whatā€™s one thing you collect(ed): Soft toys aka teddies... still do.
Spotify or youtube?: Youtube.
Netflix or those sweet, sweet illegal downloads?: Netflix though only recently, tbh before that I just didnā€™t really watch what I couldnā€™t get on TV, because Iā€™m lazy and cba.
Have you ever been to a concert? If so, whose?: A few years back I went to a Lindsey Stirling concert and it was amazing, she was amazing, I love her.
OTP: Oh boy, where to start, so many tbh. Itā€™d be so much easier just to link you HERE, itā€™s the OTP tag on my personal blog, thereā€™s way too many to list though also if you check my faves page HERE, thereā€™s a list of my top OTPS and my inventive tags for them.
NOTP: So many from so many fandoms tbh itā€™s ridiculous. Couldnā€™t list them all, though if you want to no my top NOTP off the top of my head thatā€™d be IchiHime (Ichigo & Orihime from Bleach) and tbh if I went into details as to why both of them deserved so much better than what they ended up with then Iā€™d rant forever.
Currently watching: Teen Wolf, Class, How to Get Away with Murder, Game of Thrones, Shadowhunters etc. etc.
Currently reading:
Tumblr media
Currently listening to: SHINee everything tbh.
If you could make everyone read one book, which would it be?: Prince of Shadows - Rachel Cain, because if you didnā€™t have a soft spot for Romeo and Juliet before then you will after this book, putting it in Benvolioā€™s POV was a stroke of genius, thereā€™s a whole new level added to the events when you see them through the eyes of Romeoā€™s older cousin. Tbh sweet baby Romeo, heā€™s such a smol bean, donā€™t hate on my babes ever.
