@menotthatkindoforc here's Part 1 of your ask (I split them up because... uh the shocking difference in tags required lmao). 💜 kasjory, you get to see how I think these idiots got together:

Marjory’s head was pounding, and she couldn’t tell if it was from the explosion, the sleep deprivation, or the toxic smoke. A thick fog of green still billowed out from Viathan Lake; the smoke came up to her knees, and the mud up to her ankles. Coughing, she braced herself on a chunk of what had been the Nightmare Tower until about a minute ago. The metal edges of the wreckage were still steaming from the explosion, and a jagged stump peeked up over the waves. The sight made her grin.

“Jory?” A few yards away, Kasmeer peeked out from behind a knot of tangled vines. Where Marjory was coated in mud and toxic gunk, Kas looked perfectly pristine. Mesmer illusions – as a rule, Marjory tried not to think about what might actually be under there, or she’d never think about anything else. Kas grinned and started laughing, though it was interspersed with hiccups. “Oh by the Six, look at all this!”

Marjory did. The wreckage probably counted as an ecological disaster. It would take ages for the Lionguard to clean it up – but the Tower was gone. “We did it, honey. We really did it.”

Kas ran to her, a little white laughing dove, and when Marjory caught her in her arms she fit perfectly. She squeaked and kicked her feet as Marjory picked her up and twirled her, then laughed even harder when she hit the ground with a wet schlorp of mud. Her arms circled Marjory’s shoulders, her warm breath tickled Marjory’s ear. She was shiny and perfect and Marjory was probably getting gunk all over her with her soiled gloves, but neither of them pulled away. Instead, they leaned into each other; Marjory bumped their foreheads together and gave herself just a second to rest her sore eyes. Kas felt so familiar, so safe, even after only a few short months.

“Your antitoxin worked! I knew it would once we cracked that thing.” Kas’s voice was coming between little adrenaline gasps. The ebb and flow of her life force was faster than normal; Marjory could feel it where their skin touched. “Scarlet couldn’t hold out forever. You can track her down – we’ll find her – and…” Marjory pressed her hand to Kas’s neck, thumb right under her jaw, feeling her rapid heartbeat. Kas’s voice stuttered and died. Marjory’s next mistake was opening her eyes: vivid blue melted any walls she had left.

“We’ll find her,” she whispered. “If you’re coming with me?”

“Of course,” Kas said. Of course, as if it was obvious and she hadn’t walked into Marjory’s bar, shattered all her preconceptions, and given her hope and comfort on the darkest nights. All those nights of murder cases and poison towers and staying up so late putting pieces together that the candles burned low and they had to practically lean on each other to see the clues – Kas should have cut and run long ago, but by the Six, Marjory was glad she hadn’t.

She smiled. “Sweetheart, have I ever told you how amazing you are?”

She felt Kas’s pulse speed up even more, maybe she noticed her eyes widen a fraction. Then suddenly there were soft lips on hers. She took a step backward in shock and Kas chased her into the kiss, fierce and a little sloppy from how much they were both shaking. She pulled away with a gasp before Marjory could get her head on straight and kiss her back properly, and then they stood there for a second blinking at each other.

“I – oh gods,” Kas panted. “I’m so sorry, I-I don’t know why I did that, it must be the adrenaline and all of this and-”

“Just adrenaline?” It was so hard to keep desperation out of her voice, and honestly Marjory wasn’t quite sure she even managed it at all. She shouldn’t even be asking, she should be smirking and saying something smart and taking this gorgeous woman home for an evening of bad decisions. But there was an awful warm ache in her chest that had nothing to do with after-action chemicals, and she had to know. Some stupidly hopeful part of her wanted them to be a matched set of longing.

“Well no – I mean, kind of – I think I knew that if I didn’t do it now I’d just never do it and-” Kas suddenly found herself victim to another bout of hiccups. Her whole face had gone red; it was the cutest thing Marjory had ever seen. “Look, you can’t just say something like that to me in that voice, right next to my ear, and not expect me to do someth-”

Marjory cut her off with another kiss.

I absolutely have to show you the church i just had a rehearsal in. for starters, it was in a repurposed gymnasium type situation (classic) next to an abandoned roller rink and right on some train tracks. yes, the building shook as trains drove by.

you had your folding chairs, stained carpet, standard protestant snack bar, etc

but please brace yourselves for the best part: the painters tape "stained glass" windows

hey @menotthatkindoforc I'm stealing your tags because you're right, this is a perfect headcanon and I'm going to tell you all why.

Basically, not only are they morning and night people respectively, they're the extremes of those things. Kas is a natural early bird who also grew up in an upper-class environment where she needed to be awake and polite and properly dressed and ready to entertain people at her home pretty much all the time, or else she'd be socially shamed. Plus she likes the sun, so at this point she's gotten herself into such a habit that she naturally wakes up at sunrise and starts getting sleepy at like 8:00 pm. She has a legitimately hard time staying up past 10.

Meanwhile, Jory is a night owl goth who hates the sun and has a terrible habit of working way too late into the night when fixated on something. She runs her own business (and even the bar is busier in the evening) so she doesn't have to work on anyone else's schedule if she doesn't want to. She's a 2-10 am sleeper at best and requires at least two cups of coffee to be functional in the morning.

Basically, if you go over to the Delaqua-Meade household at any time before noon, there's a solid chance you'll encounter this:

How do they handle this without killing each other? Mostly they just kinda let each other sleep. Kas makes breakfast and knows not to have people over too early; Jory cleans and locks up the house at night and keeps any work she does quiet. Kas does help keep Jory on a little bit more of a consistent schedule, which is good for her even if she hates it. Only real hiccup is when Kas really wants to cuddle, which means Jory either gets dragged to bed early or Kas tries vainly to stay up late and inevitably winds up falling asleep on her.

I just wanna say this blog and the submissions to it always make me so happy! Sometimes our little arthropod friends don't get enough love from the average populace (especially ones like spiders and wasps) and as someone who's always been the person trying to defend bugs from other people, all the positivity and love for little creatures here always warms my heart. cardigan— what is your favorite winter activity or holiday? what do you like about it?

I really like sledding and ice skating and stuff. It feels nice to move, and I generally prefer the cold, especially when I'm moving. Plus go really really fast and sometimes crash! Exciting!!

gale— do you have a favorite band or singer?

I'm fucking awful at picking favorites. I simply can't. Im really into metal and punk though. Mostly mainstream stuff :p I also really like Steam Powered Giraffe. They're awesome if you haven't heard them.

I don't know many singers by name so that's easier, cuz I sometimes wish I sounded like Ivan Moody, from Five Finger Death Punch. I also fuckin love how Jessica Jean sounds.

fleece— if you were an animal, which one would you be and why?

Hmmm... I feel like I've already got the personality of a dog so maybe that? I'd love to be able to fly but birds just don't do it for me. Lizards are cool though. So are snakes but no arms is a huge red flag. Maybe like bearded dragon? They're fun. I really like horses but they're kinda dumb. That extreme anxiety is not for me please.

I'm gonna go with dog cuz it suits me and also run really fast and have fun. Husky pref cuz cold but also funny faces.

Aaaand this is where I have to admit I'm weird and don't have a proper playlist 😅 I rely entirely on ad-blocked YouTube and putting one song on loop for four hours while I draw. So the closest thing I have to a playlist is the "My Mix" thing YouTube makes for you, but since that's algorithmic instead of curated by me I can't say how accurate it is. Thus I have included author's commentary.

Getting music through YouTube suggestions leads to a weird range of genres, but I probably gravitate towards alt-rock and indie, though I avoid songs that are mostly vocals. I'll dig up a hard rock or metal album when I'm angry (or want to write a fight scene). Mix in a good dose of 70s and 80s music and the occasional weird unhinged song I thought was funny and you have me, basically.
