i did only skim it for a broad idea of where they were going with it tho bc i really should be getting on with my own work so if anyone actually reads it properly and it turns out they did consider it and it's controlled for i'm just being neurodivergent about it let me know

creative writing exercise for anyone bored enough:

rewrite the 20 headlines in the quiz so the fake news sounds plausible and reasonable, and the real news sounds like a conspiracy

"Studies suggest ingredients in common vaccines are linked to long-term health complications" (certain vaccines are loaded with dangerous chemicals and toxins. fake news) or "the left is united against trump and is using the mainstream media to manipulate and divide republicans" (republicans divided in views of trump’s conduct, democrats are broadly critical. real news)

#when i was studying psychology every time we looked at ANY study. didnt matter what #i immediately honed in some flaw that seemed super obvious to me #like 'well that's so glaring they must have considered it'#and without fail i brought it up and the psych lecturers - granted not the people who did the study but were teaching it so -#were like '..........good point i had never noticed or considered that'#so perhaps i continue to have too much faith #memorably there was one study done on artifically creating ingroup/outgroup things by dividing children into those with blue eyes #and those with brown eyes #you know.demonstrating you can turn groups of people on each other over literally anything #i have green eyes. not blue-green or greeny-brown. GREEN green. emerald #my green eyed ass: so do i get to pick whether to be in the good group or the bad group or what #wouldnt change what was being measured and demonstrated in the grand scheme really but like at no point had anyone involved #even considered as a throwaway comment or footnote #what to do with the people who have green eyes #whether to have the teacher assign them based on what they felt they were closer to #or have people self-assign #or flip a coin about it or what #'oh i'd never thought about that before. i don't know how you'd resolve that'#girl you've been teaching this study for 10 years. girl YOU have green eyes.
