 Stern gaze remained in the book at hand, the silent treatment had been going on for at least an hour since he found out what had happened. And it could continue to last until he found it in himself to forgive. After he had found Sage’s note filled with snark and mockery for corrupting Lina while he was away, Adam had lost it. He’d gone on and on about how his alter ego was not one to trust and let alone follow in his stupid ideas that would only bring trouble for them all. In his mind the little voice resonated, was this worth it? At least, he wasn’t alone on this now, so to speak. The vampire thought he was certain that if Sage were to cross any line she would tell him, never had he thought she would fall in the trap and follow.     When Lina’s hand took a hold of his away from his light read for the night and pressed her lips delicately against his palm, Adam’s disappointed stare deviated to her. Eyes narrowed, scrutinizing her expression and finding nothing more but her quest for forgiveness yet his hand pulled away only to close his book.

as the credits rolled, tom turned his head to the side, his eye heavy with sleep. lina hadn’t moved in a while, but he figured it was due to her interest in the movie. though, as his eyes caught sight of her, it was clear she’d been asleep for some time. she’d snuggled into his side, leaving no way for the many to shimmy out of he corner seat of the couch. tom had happily accepted his fate, clicking the tv off before setting their popcorn bowl on the end table. he pulled the blanket up and over lina’s shoulders before covering himself up. “g’night, lee,” he started, giving the woman a gentle kiss on the forehead. “i love you.”

     She had a way to make him lose his temper, to enter heated arguments that left them sour and angry. Growling under his breath and challenging remarks left in the tense air to boil. He was not accustomed to let his emotions be seen or shown, having lost plenty in the past had been enough to close him like an oyster. Lina entering his life was a plot twist he had not seen coming anytime soon, nor the way she would make him feel. Feeling something he quite didn’t want to. Adam was quick to pull her close and against him, grunting under his breath.

The buzz of people around began to fiddle with his senses, overwhelming streaks of color and blurred lines yet Drew wouldn’t like to be somewhere else. It was a crescendo of voices, excitement and growing anticipation just waiting for the countdown to commence within the bar. Drew stood by the piano, leaned against the black baby grand with arms crossed and a soft smile on his lips. It was entertaining just as endearing just too look at people enjoying themselves and sharing moments with each other. Couples waiting for the moment the clock hit twelve to share their kiss, strangers eyeing each other hoping that one stolen glance and a flirty smile will get them to lock lips.    His eyes spotted a familiar silhouette within the crowd and his eyes fell to the floor, a half smile reached his lips.  TEN, NINE... For a moment he wondered if she was there with someone else. The musician stood on his on his toes even to have a better look, he wasn’t that tall to see over the crowd properly.  EIGHT, SEVEN... He heard people counting as he finally pushed himself off the piano taking his chances and made his way through the patrons. SIX, FIVE! They continued. A couple of moments later he was finally beside Lucy, hands behind his back, whole body swinging on his heels a little. Butterflies began to flutter in the pit of his stomach.    FOUR!      ❛ You know, they say if you don’t kiss someone at midnight the year might be filled with loneliness. ❜ he says looking ahead, voice struggling to be heard over the counting. THREE! TWO!  ❛ ...Wouldn’t like that to happen right? ❜  A smile was shared then, tired eyes looking at her brown ones while he bit his lip briefly. ONE!! His arm slid around her waist pulling her closer and he leaned, lips meeting hers tender and slow. The color of a kiss meshed with the hues of all the voices shouting...

there are muffled noises, and tom’s voice can be heard in the background. this is obviously a butt-dial. about a minute passes before there’s a sound that is much louder than everything else. “fffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuufrt” light, barely audible laughter is elicited from tom before he apologizes to the other party in the room. a text message comes in, and he pulls his phone out to check it. “ohshit,” tom mumbles, before abruptly ending the call.
