And here’s domestic Baffy fuel for y’all
Present day thoughts:
See, I like that they can have these moments where they just banter. It adds some background on what they get up to beyond their competitive rivalry/antagonism in their classic shorts.
Also Bugs can actually be quite open about casual things when conversing with Daffy. "How would you liked to be remembered?" and he gives a genuine response. He's willing to be sincere with Daffy, and this is a consistent aspect to his character whether or not it's Daffy. He's sometimes very blunt and childishly naive, other times he's deceptive and feigning innocence.
Even though in some portrayals he can be deliberately obtuse that it feels like he has some vendetta against Daffy, this other casually open and frank side of him is not gatekept from Daffy. So you can see why Daffy sometimes lets himself be vulnerable around Bugs. Sometimes Bugs can be a simple sweetheart, which makes it all the more devious when he uses that disposition while tricking his adversaries.
#both like to take advantage of the other though. so not gonna play it off like daffy is some poor begotten victim of bugs' wrath#melon ramble🍉#looney tunes#bugs bunny#daffy duck#looney tunes lore#baffy void#looney tunes comics#this is from issue 13 btw

I need a whole compilation dedicated to moments in Duck Dodgers where the actors break character. It shocked me how so much of this show feels like Daffy venting his showrunner struggles into the episodes.
I like the parts in duck dodgers where you can tell they’re just acting in Duck Dodgers not in a meta way but like this
Look me in my eyes and tell me that isn’t just Daffy and Porky, not Dodgers and Cadets
#looney tunes#duck dodgers#daffy duck#porky pig#dd cadet#dafpork#it goes even deeper when i have to go 'is this daffy playing up traits he doesn't usually possess?'#'or is this daffy's current portrayal of that era slipping into how he's written'#this show really isn't in-character for daffy and porky.#it feels like what how daffy would portray duck dodgers and cadet's dynamic#melon ramble🍉#looney tunes lore

i totally get you,,, it's just a personal thing for me,,, i guess i can never excuse murder unless it's a special case. i know this is a fictional world and he's fictional and all but, i guess it ultimately had me wondering if i was in it or if he was here. if all of the people i care about were non-sorcerers, i REALLY wouldn't want them, you know, dead. i guess that had been the dealbreaker for me...? idk, i still love him and i mourn the person he could've grown to be had the circumstances been different.
i agree with all the points you made, though!! he's been nothing but kind, and not to be accusatory but, his 2 closest friends also never really checked up on the guy and if i had to go through something like that myself i would go crazy too,,, just not to the extreme, even if he believed that what he was doing would lead to a more ideal world. all in all, he's a complex character, and it's nice to talk about it. he's one of my faves, and for more reasons than just him being really attractive (men with medium/long dark hair and have it tied up in some way make me very weak.)
i'm sorry if i'm rambling!!! jjk has grown to be one of my biggest hyperfixations and i feel like i could talk about it for hours,,, and everytime i talk with you you always make me feel welcome,,, i hope you don't mind, haha. i appreciate the ears, zuma, always. thank you <3
- 🍉
YEA I TOTALLY GET U DWDW!!! i wish gege went into more detail on his story and just.. their whole yourh in general bc i genuinely dont believe gojo and shoko both didnt notice anything abt him changing?!?! not even yaga I DUNNO 😞 it hurts so bad thinking abt it AAAAGHHH he had so many ppl around him but felt so alone ehjdsiavbd
AND THE ‘men with medium/long hair having it tied up in some way’ IS SO FUCKINF REAL like when its down? mehhhh ok BUT WHEN SUGU HAS IT IN THAT HALF UP OR A BUN GODDDDDD!!!!!1!!
i will continue to remind u that ur never not allowed to ramble w me melon <33 I love hearing what u have to say u always have such good opinions on the jjkverse,, do u have any other topics you wanna discuss :00 ive personally been getting mad abt the fact that everyones fav husband nanami had to die while somehow meimei survived!!!!!!!!?? like no!! why did gege decide yes this is a good idea!!!!! i get sad whenever i remember hes gone but that creepy ass lady survived IT HURTS. 😞

omg speaking abt exposure.. imagine the bonedo boys/8turn boys accidentally letting ur name slip during a live 🙊
I CAN LITERALLY ENVISION WOONHAK SITTING DOWN WITH LIKE GONGFOURZ, AND HES JUST TELLING THE FANS ABOUT HIS DAY AND HE GOES “oh yeah! yn bought me this jacket, i’m wearing it right now!” AND TAESAN JUST WHIPPING HIS HEAD TOWARDS WOONHAKS DIRECTION SO FAST. leehan slowly turns to him, then back at the tablet with a 🙂.
it’ll be even funnier if woonhak fails to notice and he continues rambling.. i feel like woonhaks the type of guy to treat a live like a family videocall. like he’s so used to calling his sister or his parenrs and just ranting abt you, so he just (accidentally) does it live.
so with YUNGYU i believe he’s the type of guy to normally facetime you whenever he can. like hes eating dinner? yeah he’d call. he just woke up and is about to do some skincare? pick up the phone. sometimes when you’re too tired, he’d just ask yes or no questions. or he’d just talk about his day.
“right omi? this outfit looks good for today?”
“omi! i had some street food with seungheon.. of course yoonsung wanted some so he came along..”
“omiii i miss youuu”
unfortunately, when hes live he also tends to fall back on his habits on facetime. when he’d be spoiling talking about a comeback, he’d be like
“im so excited for you to hear it, omi!”
the staff behind the screen just blankly stare at him and try to direct him to another topic before suspicions arouse. normally, someone would be freaked out they accidentally released their relationship to the public.. but for some reason theres a little grin creeping up on his face.
MINHO would panic, but fortunately jaeyun was on the live with him and said that the person minho mentioned was a distant relative.
“me and yn tried this filter last night..”
“yn is minhos cousin!”
but when the agency allows for the relationship to be public, and minho mentions your name.. fans would be REALLY confused on why hes dating his cousin.. then theres the 15% of the turnings who speculated the name yn was definitely his gf and NOT his cousin. (i love minho sobs)
jisung sneak..
jisung would be on a live while at your apartment, he frequently gets questions like,
“marry me jisung!” or “jisung one chance!!!”
and he’d be blankly reading them out with no reaction. but one day he accidentally goes “i dont think yn would like that..” and the comments go insane asking about who yn is..
“..oh.” he looks up from the live to see his gfs sleeping figure on the other couch. and with a small, warm smile he talks about having the most loveliest girlfriend ever.
to ur surprise, you wake up with many new notifications and a surprising hashtag on twitter.. #YNSUNG
-🍉
SLIP UPS WITH THESE BOYS AAAH!
all of these are so accurate to their personalities i can't melon :,)
woonhak would most definitely have a little rant and the rest of the boys eyes would be twitching HAHA but jaeyun would probably be there like YEAHH THATS MY GIRL I LOVE YN! then the live chat would be like wtf are yall yapping about?
and tell me why when you insert my name for yungyu's i actually exploded into a fit of giggles i smiled so hard >< but yes! i have yungyu's plus chat subscription and he's always talking about the most random things. he love love loves spending time with turnings (in this case reader, aka me >;3) and always apologizes if he doesn't text for a day! so like woonhak, he's definitely a rambler and i could totally see him messing up hehe.
you're so funny for minho's, cause dating his cousin? LMAOOO once the relationship is revealed, i can imagine whiney yoonsung complaining to turnings that his bf cheated on him </3 first with myungho then with reader sighh
I SEE U JISUNG SNEAKK waking up clueless asf to have your phone blowing up is genuinely my worst nightmare cause i'll think i did something wrong HAHA but fans would be very supportive! i can imagine reader not wanting to do a face reveal quite yet, but her arms come in frame to give jisung something THEN FANS MAKE EDITS OF LIKE HER HANDS OR SOMETHING JUST TO BE FUNNY HSJSN

Hi hello, yes this is my post from my other acc (b4 I made this specific looney tunes account), so I'm allowed to hijack my own post!!!
Present day thoughts:
Bugs' behaviour throughout the course of Looney Tunes: Back in Action, character interviews, and the behind the scenes documentary illuminates to the naked eye of a long time looney tunes fan just how enamoured Bugs is of Daffy in and off screen.
In the movie, he:
takes it upon himself to lead Kate, CEO of Comedy, into the decision of rehiring Daffy implies that he knows Daffy cares about his opinion enough that he could leverage emotional intimacy to get Daffy to return to WB has implied from his convo with Daffy on the phone, that he has made it a routine to get Daffy his job back and reduce the penalties was against co-starring with virtually anyone other than Daffy would bend over backwards to tell Daffy what he wants to hear (albeit amidst enraging him)
Then we get the character interviews, where he:
specifies that he doesn't take pleasure in watching Daffy suffer (whether he's being 100% honest abt that is another can of worms)
In the behind the scenes, we get:
Daffy crushing on Jenna Elfman (the one who plays Kate), which seems to elicit an exasperated response from Bugs. Which, usually, can be interpreted as how ever. But the intent feels clear when Joe Dante confronts Daffy on his flirting by drawing attention to Bugs' feelings on the matter
So his reaction to Kate's proclamation in this scene is really just the tip of the iceberg.

On that skate 3 glitch post, you said something in the tags about the need for speed. What is that?
aight i'll just ramble and boast about need for speed a little then ig cause i originally played need for speed (2015) which is basically a car game as a late night drive simulator to save gas mainly bc of how real it looks but then somewhere along the line i fell headfirst into obsession with it and now i beat 4/5 technically 6 of the story archs and im abt level 70 now with my maxed out baby that can go up to 245mph:
and this other ✨🍉melon🍉✨ babbi that i got for completing the outlaw story arch🥺:
that has flashy LED lights that i adore btw
the outlaw arch was stressful af cause u gotta fuck around with cops and i avoided the final race for like months bc of One Bad Run sksksk but yeah it’s fun as hell and the cutscenes are acted out i think?? i tried to figure out if they were computerized or not for a good ass minute, and i hate to admit this 😞 but i went from cringing at, to being ironically attached to, to unironically attached to Spike which is this cornball:
which is very basic bitch of me but hey i never said i had taste 👉🤡👉 but yeah bullshit aside its a rlly good racing car game but now im latched into Skate 3 for my Coping Game like a cheetah on a sick antelope now hence the skate squad memes
#need for speed#if you want a clearer more coherent answer just use google man lmfao#this has been: dumb facts abt roxys weird obsessions#spike abt 2 fite me bc im getting magnus's attention on me: o honey why dont u punch a wall then you'll feel better 🥺 LMFAO

The thread commentary where I go insane over Issue 12 of the Looney Tunes comics
(Adding the read more tag here because this post is hefty. All the text proceeding this is my live commentary from back then)
Oh this was fast. Also probably doesn’t count since Bugs is kissing him saying “Mama”
Running into Bugs’ arms for safety as usual, I see
In the roaring twenties, Bugs was still considered entertaining. But for stand up comedy. Which sorta makes sense since he does say funny remarks.
Just Daffy ref— I love how the line art gives the illusion of eyelashes
This song Bugs is singing is from the movie “The Cotton club” — so this story thing could be a parody? Maybe? Also here’s the song if y’wanna hear it. Really nice sounding.
Ok bruh if you didn’t distract Daffy with a kiss, he would’ve had more time before he’d get caught
Anyways, take two. Daffy goes back disguised as a more believable identity. Bugs still kinda playing along with a teasing “Who? Little ol me?”
Also that last panel… Bugs kinda does have that condition in a meta sense as do most franchise characters
This guy’s funny
Bugs pulled a BiA
Present day thoughts: Aside from the comic cover being a hilarious thumbnail that incidentally smokes out the Baffy shippers (me), I found this story to be pretty standard for a Bugs and Daffy involved plot. See, if Bugs doesn't contribute much to the story and gets disproportionate applause for doing the bare minimum, I tend to be less engaged with the story. Like, unless he actually earned the applause, then I'll bite. His popularity plays a decent role in this one, so yeah, I'm not attached beyond the kiss. Also our server made that kiss panel a sticker and called it "oedipus complex, bugs?" and I feel like that deserves to be mentioned at least once.
#also shoutout to rabbit's feat where bugs calls wile e daddy and proceeds to kiss him square in the lips#the rabbit enjoys giving his kisses#looney tunes#melon ramble🍉#bugs bunny#daffy duck#looney tunes lore#looney tunes comics#baffy void

Another edition to the long documented “Bugs going along with whatever Daffy wants cuz he’s amused by him” thread
Present day thoughts:
There's a reason Bugs and Daffy hang out in some of their shorts.

A apt distinction between Dafpork and Baffy (followed by a long ramble)
Since the looney tunes show era, it's not uncommon for looney tunes fans and even modern looney tunes to define Daffy and Porky's dynamic to be of the bully and doormat variant. Doesn't help when the latter half of the classic looney tunes shorts assert Daffy to be dull but domineering, and Porky to be competent but meek.
I don't reject these portrayals, but I do find it reductive to reduce Porky's aptitude for hubris, or Daffy's capacity for emotional intelligence... sometimes intelligence, period. Especially when people write them in comparison to how they write Baffy's dynamic.
So, here's a comic strip that encapsulates both Dafpork and Baffy's dynamics in a way that helps me summarise my points. The premise is the same for both: Daffy tells the latter a joke.
Here, Daffy tells a harmless (albeit flirtatious) joke. And Porky responds by crushing his trash can over Daffy's head and remarking on the quality of his humor.
As best friends, this is their normal -- usually Daffy initiates by tormenting Porky, and Porky will retaliate (sometimes dishing out more than Daffy may have earned). Other times Porky initiates and Daffy responds accordingly. This is how they banter.
Now let's move onto Baffy.
Here, Daffy tells a joke, and Bugs seems all too familiarised to his antics. Then Daffy pushes for a compromise, Bugs gives in. And then Daffy makes him regret the decision.
As best friends, this is their normal -- Daffy initiates by tormenting Bugs, Bugs anticipates this and usually shuts him down. Daffy pleads with Bugs to humor him, Bugs allows it, and then immediately regrets it (to varying degrees of legitimacy).
This is to say:
Porky can fall into the trap of being a doormat, but when it comes to Daffy, is a lot more emotionally volatile to the point of explosive anger. They're also very good at playing to their roles in relation to each other, making their interactions in shorts snappy, varied, unpredictable and hilarious.
Bugs is more attuned to psychological warfare and mind games, but has a track record of giving into Daffy's whims against his better judgment. He also has shown/admitted many times that he has a soft spot for Daffy, which makes their shorts carry this level of unspoken familiarity that is rarely found in classic looney tunes.
In the shorts, Dafpork operate like the duo that click the moment they clock each other, while Baffy operate like the duo with undisclosed history. Which I find super interesting when in terms of chronology, it should technically be the other way around since Dafpork shorts are greater in bulk and came way earlier before Baffy.
All this goes to show that truly, in my heart of hearts, Porky is NOT as soft-hearted as modern looney tunes media may have you believe. And Bugs has an understated weakness to pitiable pleas from sensitive birds.
#sometimes i look at instagram reels and think long and hard 'is this a baffy coded post or a dafpork coded post and why'#usually it goes like 'i can see bugs doing this for daffy' or 'i can see daffy doing this for porky'#and then i just relent and go 'both. both is good'#i like both dynamics. they got potential.#slightly more inclined towards baffy since they get more instances of tension and banter in modern media.#but i like depicting daffy with a casual but legitimate crush on porky (he likes the body but the face is a hit or miss)#i feel like porky hasn't seriously considered it. but is more than open to it if the offer's on the table (unless he's already with petunia#melon ramble🍉#looney tunes#bugs bunny#daffy duck#porky pig#dafpork#baffy#baffy void

An underrated Daffy Duck bit
youtube
omg I love how he delivers his lines. whoever voices him here is delightful!
"there's a guy coming in for a job. he's small and has an adorable lisp. bUT HE'S A GENIUS I TELL YA! A GENIUS!"
"THAT's a blatant example of DIS-crIM-mINI-NIM-IMININATION!!! WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO AFFIRMATIVE ACTION?!?!"
I love this portrayal so much. He's so loveable, and even though he doesn't get his objective, he managed to make the exchange all the more entertaining and delightful.
Also not Daffy just showing he falls for people super easily. Like a firecracker, his heart explodes with affection -- before he gets inevitably rejected, and he moves along just like that.
Also also -- I've drawn Daffy sitting in Bugs' lap before I've ever seen him sitting in anyone's lap. Not to brag but I think I should get hired, Warner Bros 👁️👁️ I know Daffy like the back of my hand
AND OKAY I JUST LOVE HOW HE'S DRAWN IN THIS CLIP--
THE PROPORTIONS ARE STOUT AND PLUSHIE! HE'S JUST SO SMALL!
Present day thoughts:
Unironically still one of my favourite Daffy bits ever made, Joe Alaskey nails Daffy's voice as usual, and Drew Carey and Mimi make for such good foils for Daffy in this 4 min situational comedy. And for such a relatively undiscussed piece of looney tunes content, Daffy's screwball-cunning range was executed so well that I still come back to this clip to this day. Honestly this merge between live actors and cartoon characters was nailed impressively well and it felt so high effort.
Fun trivia fact: in the fandom wiki for the Drew Carey show, when there aren't images where a section of the article wants an image to accompany it, this is the filler image:
I just think that's delightful.
Here's another image I've taken that speaks to me.

Present day thoughts:
I don't agree with bestie's takes here and they're a little off with implying that Daffy gets easily outwitted past 1950 among other things. But the sentiment that Daffy's jealousy and self-hatred grew in reaction to Bugs is very juicy of a concept.
It's kind of funny to me, my description of Daffy feels more fitting to Bugs now, considering my preferred portrayals of him are in his Tex Avery and Bob Clampett shorts. I unironically think my takes on Daffy here are now more applicable to Bugs the way I see him.
Daffy's insane but also drawn to self-actualisation and self-defeating thinking. I think he self-sabotages more than Bugs, and it's either caused by overthinking or pure impulse. One common denominator I find about his character is that he can be self-aware in both a Watsonian and Doylist perspective, but will obfuscate this from himself wilfully or when narratively appropriate to. His propensity for jealousy and self-hatred comes from a base trait of being misunderstood and othered.
Whether intentional or not from his early years of conceptualisation, Daffy's been designed with a potency for emotionally resonant conflict. I'll be a bit reductive here, but Bugs is more a vehicle to Daffy's habit of spiralling into negativity when his paranoia is affirmed by external forces (i.e. not being the top star, or considered a valuable duck). Daffy has been shown to idolise celebrities, and actors throughout his portrayals in multiple media. Dude's got feelings of inadequacy and it's not uniquely due to Bugs.

Foghorn legit acts so fatherly with everyone with "son" and how he lectures the interviewer like an overbearing father.
I like how Daffy shows to be on good terms with Porky, and also seems close enough with Sylvester that he references his catchphrase. Also like how unfabricated the audience is towards their opinion of Daffy. Cuz I personally never found it funny when a general public acted so biased against him in recent times because that's the gag. Dissing him.
It makes sense for toon logic, or warner executives and other co-stars to give him shit. But not a general audience who would at this point probably not have a strong opinion or exposure to his personality to hate him by default.
I like how this aged interview from the 70s informs us of how Warner Bros would portray Daffy before leaning on the running gag of just making everyone supposedly dislike him. Here, he is portrayed as successful, beloved, and -- in spite of his snobbish disposition -- distinguished and well-acknowledged for his talents. People clapped for his arrival, Daffy comfortably talks about his career without an air of insecurity or even a mention of Bugs, and just plays to the audience coolly when requested to do his iconic laugh.
He's professional yet upfront. So idk wtf happened lmao
Present day thoughts:
"idk wtf happened" -- basically Daffy got treated like a one trick pony by directors and writers. He's a fun proverbial stress toy to chew and crush. Plus, the looney tunes are not lauded for their ~expertly crafted characterisations~ so who's out here reprimanding screenwriters, directors and such for portraying their little guy wrong?
It's pretty obvious looking through the track record for even the original directors' handlement of Daffy that Daffy's fodder that can be reduced to whatever role the writer/director wants of him. He could be treated as a well-respected legacy toon actor, worthy of acknowledgement. Or he can be the stooge to contrast ~T h e B U G S B U N N Y~, or Tweety Pie, or Speedy Gonzales. Pick your poison, Daffy fan.
I still think about that WB Teen Titans Go special, where Daffy gets paired with TTG!Robin. It felt like watching Daffy symbolically passing the "flanderised stooge" torch to him... I feel like I should feel happy that Daffy wasn't the butt of the joke for most of that special, but I just disliked the special for being lame, and for doing my man Michigan Frog dirty like that.
I feel like I could make a ramble dedicated to my feelings about TTG, but the omission of discussing it is my own way of expressing my undivided disdain for it.

i know you were speaking rhetorically, but in response to your tags on the latest post, i definitely think it’s a sign of the times as to the direction the characters are being taken! Duck Dodgers i think is a convenient domino into TLTS, as it’s the first show to really play up Daffy’s “stupidity” (which i have.. opinions on, lol) and TLTS kinda took it and ran with it. or Porky being subservient to Daffy, and TLTS running (way too far) with that too. i haven’t done a good job of keeping up with this blog so i apologize if you know or have said this already! but the “they’re actors” thing sort of applies by a case by case basis—the assumption is that they’re actors when they establish that they’re actors, (but of course actor aus are great and headcanons are strong 🙏), but i just say that because DD is not a show that follows that “they’re actors” thing EXCEPT for the one episode that DOES do that, Hooray for Hollywood Planet and the last episode (esp the very end with the voice actors), but in the latter case it’s more of a cute consideration of meta rather than a “reveal”. i also (personally) think it’s one of the shows that does Porky and Daffy’s dynamic better than anyone after the original run of shorts, definitely has some issues that domino’s into more issues but i’d say their dynamic is relatively to the blueprint that Chuck Jones established! at least in comparison to other shows that followed
THIS IS A LOT HAHA i just like chatting about DD, if you know all of this already then feel free to ignore! but that’s my personal interpretation of it :)
No need to apologise, I like going over things even if I've said versions of em a billion times before haha!
I dance between my headcanons and analysis of creators' intent without much clear distinction, so it's best when I'm asked for clarification on when I'm actually working under a conspiracy theorist lens, or directly analysing the given text. In this case, I'm very much conspiracy theorist brained using given text.
The reason I'm quite fixated on the 'actors au' viewing of DD is because I found many instances where it broke from the immersion of being a story, and was a "production." Instances for example:
1) The intro having Daffy, Porky and Marvin's names attributed to the roles they played as.
I find it interesting that they used "Eager, Young Space Cadet" here even though this show's version of Dodgers is far too lazy and informal to actually refer to Cadet as that.
2) Season 1 and 2 having a tradition of doing Marvin the Martian shorts, and in K9 Quarry (1), Dodgers makes it a point to say:
"Don't blame me. The martian gets one solo cartoon per season."
My conspiracy theory for why this joke doesn't carry into season 3 is because the writing team for season 3 changed from the core group in seasons 1 and 2.
Seasons 1 and 2: Spike Brandt, Tony Cervone, Paul Dini, and Tom Minton [Tom Ruegger is only credited for the last two episodes of Season 2]
2005: Mark Banker, Spike Brandt, Tony Cervone (...) Kevin Seccia, Ken Daly and John Matta, Michael Grodner, Jeff Goode, Bradford Shultze, Tom Minton, Michael Banker, Tim McKeon
3) Talent Show a Go-Go: an episode that spends a portion of its runtime cutting to shots of numerous women swooning over Dodgers
Feels like something Daffy would write into his own show...
The episode feels driven by fanservicey performance rather than plot or character, I'd liken it to the short "The Night of the Living Duck" or the structure of classic shorts like "Book Revue." The former similarly has a famous singer lend their voice to good ol Daffy to sing sweet songs. The chase sequence afterwards is an afterthought in all honesty.
4) Deathmatch Duck (1): The scene of Taz beating up Daffy instead of the dummy
[The subtitles fib a little. He doesn't namedrop Taz, he just says "Ahh" I don't know why the subs are like that.]
5) Deathmatch Duck (2): On-the-nose flaunting he incorporates into his character's lore.
This is a certified "and then the whole bus clapped" moment if I've ever seen any.
6) K9 Quarry (2): Wile E. makes a cute pointed reference to his formula of chasing Road Runner.
I'm over the image limit-
7) Deathmatch Duck (3):
In 8:05, Taz eats Daffy, we cut to a kid and his parent arguing about the cartoon logic of Daffy fitting in Taz's stomach. (Meta commentary on pop culture's disillusionment with exaggerated logic, and deteriorating suspension of disbelief perhaps?) The parent suggests that it might be less immersion breaking if they do something visually engaging, kid complies. Dodgers does something visually engaging lts-style, we cut back to a tv room accompanied by cricket chirps. Dodgers speaks directly to the camera deadpan: "Once again, I've alienated our target demographic."
8) Hooray for Hollywood
To me, watching this episode after multiple watches feels like I'm watching a character study on Daffy's relationship with Warner Bros. I don't want to go over everything since I've written quite a bit in one post, but one standout scene in this episode for me is when Dodgers confronts the director, Vermin, about the script.
9) The Bugs Bunny references.
Daffy's rivalry with Bugs makes the omission of the rabbit very pointed, and almost cathartic. But because this is Daffy's show, it doesn't completely remove all traces of Bugs' name.
Bugs' name is added in the credits to add star-power to Dodger's movie credits in "Hooray for Hollywood"
In "The New Cadet" dedicates a scene to having Dodgers and Cadet enjoy rabbit stew
(Allegedly) Bugs was offered to play a role as a rabbit hunted by X-2 in "K9 Quarry"
In "Of course you know this means war and peace (1)" when Queen Tyr'ahnee says the episode's namesake, Dodgers can't help but point out the line's significance to a certain someone, with the added air carrot nibble
In "Bonafide Heroes" Dodgers is seen wearing Bugs Bunny slippers
Sorry for the unprompted list! I go overboard in Duck Dodgers discussions!
For me personally, I'm not the biggest fan of Daffy and Porky's dynamic in this show. Don't get me wrong, some episodes I'll come back to and watch with a big dumb grin on my face -- but I personally find that the show starts off pretty strong with a decent ratio of competent and incompetent Daffy/Dodgers moments, and sassy and patient Porky/Cadet moments -- but falls off at season 3, with Cadet radiating burnout murder energy whenever Dodgers so much as opens his mouth, and Dodgers is unironically dead weight on him.
And I'm not sure if you've happened to see some of my tlts posts, but you read my mind ha! I agree with your assessment that Duck Dodgers was sort of the catalyst for popularising a doofier Daffy, and a doormat Porky. I find it a little reassuring that tlts left their relationship development on a high note, which is also funny considering they weren't meant to be the focus duo of the show.
I also agree that this show is more aligned with Chuck Jones' version of the duo -- but tbh, I'm more biased towards Clampett era Dafpork <3 I see Duck Dodgers as a love letter to the classics, but at the same time, I'm very particularly vexed at how Dodgers isn't proactive and overzealous -- I agree @/marsnolias' take on this, even Jones Daffy is a tryhard!
All that said, your ask inspired me to post an old unlabelled ramble I had about this show ahead of schedule! Thanks for reaching out!

These two...
Present day thoughts:
Typical, Daffy coming over to Bugs' side of the forest.
Also Bugs is consistently very cheerful about Christmas throughout media, so that's neat little thing. He info dumps factoids about Christmas to Daffy in Bah Humduck. Also also! Bugs "I could explain it but it's much more fun to just watch" is so typical of him. He applies this thought process to everything. This is why his eyes tend to draw towards Daffy. And Elmer's reliably entertaining to watch because of how easy it is to toy with him.
#if i sound repetitive it's because the media i've consumed just keep reiterating a lot of my observations. i'm normal guys#melon ramble🍉#looney tunes#bugs bunny#daffy duck#elmer fudd#looney tunes comics#looney tunes lore#baffy void
