It’s true.
Xena is literally a show that became visual fanfiction.
2 fanfiction writers (probably more) were approached by Tapert and Co and were told to write episodes for the show. And those scripts were produced and made into canon real episodes for the actual aired show.
Melissa Good got ‘Coming Home’ and ‘Legacy’ and would have also gotten ‘Last Chance’ written with Tapert too if it made it to production before the network chimed in to censor it by telling them to scrap it and leaving us ending up with ‘Many Happy Returns’ which was Liz Friedman and Vanessa Place.
Katherine Fugate got ‘When Fates Collide’ which I’m sure no Xenite on Earth could tell you they hated.
God knows what that unproduced script for the original cut of the episode ‘Fins, Femmes & Gems’ looked like where they fully outed and canonized Xena and Gabrielle as lovers by way of an obsession spell.
All I know is it was written by Tapert and 2 other writers and it was X&G FEMSLASH fanfiction.
The man was insanely supportive of canon X&G and if it wasn’t for his hang up with X&A, he would have told the studio to screw themselves and gave the shippers everything they wanted because he was also a shipper. I’m serious… go read that Sappho musical script. It’s insane. Xena wears a dog collar with a leash.
That stuff is far too out there for me personally but they went there. They fully intended on going there.
If it wasn’t for censorship… we would have had it all.
Whether we wanted it or asked for it or not, he’d do it because he was a crazy man who didn’t give a shit.
❤️❤️❤️
We say Lucy and Renee were the biggest shippers of Xena and Gabrielle. But nope - Tapert was a nutball.

“she mentioned that she didn't deliberately write x/g subtext into her episodes because she was being a team player and didn't want to look like she was catering to her own tastes, but it ended up in them anyway while filming lol”
Actually… that’s probably true because the only subtext-y moment in this episode where Xena apologizes to Gabrielle for hitting her with her Chakram was written by Lucy and Renee.
Like they completely improvised the scene. It wasn’t in the script. I guess they felt Melissa shouldn’t have held back her “tastes” since it was everyone else’s too. Look, you don’t commission an actual fanfiction writer of a TV art/entertainment ship to write episodes for your show if you don’t already agree with the way that they see the show yourself: and they all did. Even Katherine Fugate who wrote ‘When Fates Collide’ told us this. There was no reason to dilute the subtext for the creators/cast/crew. Just the studio network. The creators/cast/crew wanted the subtext just as much.
I keep saying this. I keep saying that this is the ONLY non-confirmed canon queer ship from a 90’s TV show where the creators/cast/crew were shipping too. They wouldn’t have brought in fanfiction writers specifically for the Xena and Gabrielle ship if they weren’t too. If they didn’t want the romantic subtext between them.
They had to keep it under the radar for the studio network’s sake but they were very much team X&G.
Melissa nor Katherine would have ever have been approached if this was not the truth of how it is.
I'm very fond of Coming Home despite how awkwardly silly it can be at times.
Going with the obvious assumption that the furies voice your own deep-seated desires/insecurities to fuck with you, because that's how things like this work in fiction, Ares' interactions with them are so good. The way fury!Xena mocks him for his vulnerability as a mortal and plays on the fact that he is legitimately, physically scared of her. "You were barely a match for me as a god," as his own fears voiced is such good shit. And he demonstratably was! Ares' only advantage against Xena as a god was his ability to teleport away lol.
Also I love when fury!Xena first walks in and we don't know it's not the real Xena yet, and she starts off perfectly in character but still playing on that insecurity, joking about Ares needing her to rescue him from a fly.
His like, screaming teary breakdowns with the real Xena are also delightful. Love how pathetic he is, love the "You don't bring me flowers anymore," ref, LOVE him calling her mean while she's goading him into killing her. It's such good phrasing, childish but earnest. This ep has me going "aw, Ares" a lot lol.
Bold plot of Xena's, to die for a minute for him, but he did do them a huge solid lol and it's pointed out early on how much they owe him, so I get it. The chakram hitting the furies after she dies, like 5 solid minutes after she threw it was ridiculous but so fun lmao, silently cheered at that.
Loved the Dumb and Dumber ref a little less lol but Ares' "ow" when Xena gives him a pity goodbye kiss was perfect.
In other news, Eve/Varia real, and this is one of the few eps where Eve's characterization is like, good lol, so I appreciate that too. The way she gets caught up in the boasting competition with Varia and brags about destroying an entire village... god I would've loved to see her evil side come out more. Shake off some of that christian brainwashing and find yourself somewhere in the middle, girl.
Also lol I read an interview with the writer (Melissa Good, the ascended x/g bnf) and she mentioned that she didn't deliberately write x/g subtext into her episodes because she was being a team player and didn't want to look like she was catering to her own tastes, but it ended up in them anyway while filming lol. And I do gotta wonder if she played up the Eve/Varia vibes instead. Kudos if so, and if it's another thing that just happened on set, kudos to the actors.

The Other Clock King
Finally, a sequel to Glitter and Displeased Scowls by @the-mighty-sorceress because I’m late to everything.and also Julian and Will are cute.
Will looked up as footsteps tracked into the room. He checked his watch, a second before noon. Fugate’s watch was running fast, again. Will would have to text him about it because there was no way those footsteps were him. A girl swung into the room and stopped, staring at Will with a stern glare.
“Guten Tag!” Will shouted over the music, then paused, “Oh, Verzeihung! Is my music too loud? I’ll turn it down.”
Will turned to turn down the music before he heard a very loud shout from the girl.
“ALEX GET YOUR ASS IN HERE I FOUND A VERSION OF DAD THAT DOESN’T SUCK!”
Will stopped and turned back to the girl, “Wie bitte?”
The girl was grinning, very wide, and then a boy joined her, very confused.
They were multiplying.
“Sorry about her,” the boy said, “We’re—”
“Melissa and Alexander,” Will turned off the radio and pulled off his goggles, “I know. Guten Tag.”
“What is this place?” Melissa asked.
“My workshop,” Will replied, “I make clocks. Well, make, repair, restore, the works. Alexander, do you have a watch?”
“Alex,” Alexander corrected but handed over a small watch. Will took the watch and inspected it for a moment.
“Three seconds fast,” Will reported, “three exactly. I keep telling your father these mass-produced watches get out of time too fast but no, he won’t listen. Give me a moment.”
Will popped off the back of the watch and used a small pin to fidget with the gears. When that was done, he put the cover back on and reset the watch time before handing it back, “Should be on time now.”
“Thank you,” Alexander took the watch back, a little stunned.
“Have you eaten?” Will asked.
“Not yet,” Alexander replied, “We eat at 12:30 exactly.”
“Ah,” Will nodded, “right, very on time. Here, I’ll throw something together,” Will swung into the shop, knocking on the counter, “close for lunch Todd.”
“Yep,” Todd hopped over the counter and turned to close the shop. Will skipped up the steps into the kitchen and threw open the door to look at what was in there.
“I’ve got roulade?” Will offered, looking over the fridge at the two, “It’s Sinti though, not traditional German.”
“I don’t know what a Sinti is,” Melissa admitted, then looked over on the couch, “what’s he doing here?”
Will looked over to the couch and noticed Zeke was still sitting on it, reading, “Oh, I forgot he was here. Zeke’s staying while his dad’s in jail.”
“How do you forget about an entire person?” Alexander asked. Will shrugged.
“He once lost his glasses on his face,” Zeke noted.
“That’s a bad example,” Todd pointed out, “I’ve done that.”
“Because you’re a paragon of memory,” Zeke nodded.
“I’m just gonna spend the whole week expecting to be stabbed,” Melissa muttered, sitting on one of the stools against the island.
“Why are you expecting that?” Will asked, “Todd and Zeke don’t stab people.”
“Their dads do,” Melissa pointed out, “and my dad—”
“Moment mal, your dad thinks I enable my boyfriend’s obsessions,” Will put a plate in the microwave and turned it on, “forgive me for saying it, but I couldn’t care less about what your Erbsenzähler of a father thinks.”
Melissa stared blankly at Will and Will smiled back at her.
“You have a boyfriend?” Alexander broke the silence.
“Ja,” Will nodded, “Jules, ich liebe ihn.”
“Great!” a voice joined the cacophony that hadn’t been there before, “Will, dolcezza, can we go to the aquarium?”
Will looked at the steps and sighed at the sight of his boyfriend, Julian Day, in all his glory.
And by glory, this, of course, meant Julian was standing at the door in pink shorts printed with sharks, a gray tank top that read “Hello Sharkness My Old Friend” on the front, framing a shark, and blue socks covered in very spherical sharks.
“What is he wearing?” Melissa asked.
“Sharks,” Julian replied, beaming proudly, then turned back to Will, “Will we need to go to the aquarium.”
“I’m babysitting Jules,” Will pointed out.
“You can bring the kids,” Julian added, “I need to go to the aquarium.”
“Jules, I can’t afford to take four kids—” Will began.
“I’ll pay,” Julian offered, “prego?”
Will sighed loudly, “Fine, we will go to the aquarium.”
“Yes!” Julian jumped in the air in delight.
“After lunch,” Will opened the freezer and threw a box of fish sticks at Julian, “they’re shark-shaped.”
“YES!” Julian held up the box like a child.
Will took the roulade out of the microwave and split it onto five plates, putting two in front of Melissa and Alexander, and two in front of the other two empty chairs.
“You don’t enable his obsessions?” Melissa raised an eyebrow.
“Nope,” Will cut into his own meal, “keep an eye on him when we get to the aquarium, make sure he doesn’t try to steal a shark.”
Melissa and Alexander looked between Will and Julian before Melissa piped up.
“Will he actually do that?”
“Yes,” Todd answered, sitting beside Alexander, “he can, and he will, quite happily, in fact.”
“See the calendar thing is just a hyper fixation,” Will noted as Julian happily set to putting the fish sticks in the microwave, “it’s the crime impulses you need to worry about.”
Will looked back at Julian, happily humming to himself.
“Schnecke,” he said softly.
“Yes,” Julian asked. Will leaned on Julian.
“You’re cute.”
Julian smiled and looked at Will from the corner of his eye, “I know.”

Updates to the rogue kids
Similarly to her post, all of these updates are assumed to be in line with @lawful-evil-novelist’s rogue kids content.
Main concept for these updates is really just making the kids more realistic. I first made these guys when I was like 14, some things are a little too dramatised for how the world actually works (even in a comic book world lmao)
Teddy Krank
The biggest change to Teddy is that he’s now a magic-user (in the context of DC Comics, think of Zatanna, Constantine, etc.). It only started to manifest recently, so he doesn’t have much control over it yet. It’s another extra bit of chaos in the lives of both himself and his dad :)
Teddy doesn’t keep stealing one of Cosmo’s flying discs after the original joyride. I like to think that when he becomes more experienced, Teddy will use magic to replicate one.
Although Teddy’s been banned from the discs, Cosmo has always wanted to keep his son safe. When Teddy was in preschool Cosmo gave him a smaller variation of a Zoom-Pet as a bodyguard. To this day, “Mitzy” hangs from Teddy’s backpack.
Teddy’s clothes are based more on neon/scene fashion rather than just a mini-Krank. It’s heavily inspired by his dad, because he idolises him, but the change gives Teddy a little more individual spin
Teddy is still keeping his signature purple plait. I did shave the sides of his head though.
Less important, but I’m giving his bf a bit of a makeover. Teddy’s bf was a direct rip of a certain character from a sitcom, so I want to at least give him his own face.
Glimmer Pye
Glimmer has minimal changes overall, as I’m still largely happy with her.
However, I am adjusting her home life. She’s still sheltered, and her mum still ‘borrows’ whatever she wants from Glimmer as she sees fit. But this is where the brunt of “the old version was rather exaggerated, I’m reining it in” is going
Alexander Fugate
Alexander is now a regular goth. He’s still a Disney/Skellington fan, but it’s not the main part of his aesthetic
I’m tweaking this version of Clock King just a bit, both to make him more fun and to draw more inspiration from my favourite version of the character. His influence on his children still remains the same, and he still has all his control issues, but they’re coming from a guy who’s more eccentric than rigorously uptight.
Melissa Fugate
Like Glimmer, Melissa is fine for the most part. But she is getting an actually nailed-down personal style now. Alex is goth, she’s grunge.
Misc.
I unfortunately lost all the reference images I was using for updated outfits, so I’d have to describe those in text format. I don’t want to clog up this post, so I’ll only post those descriptions if requested

They did know. They have had discussions of keeping the true intentions of the show secretive and sub textual on purpose. It wasn't their intention in the beginning, but through organic writing, they saw a potential story to weave in and also get it past the censors. Many of the writers on Xena were lesbian themselves: Melissa Good, Liz Friedman, Katherine Fugate are some examples. Katherine Fugate actually wrote When Fates Collide, which had to be changed because they WERE supposed to kiss when Gabrielle was in the jail and Xena comes to visit her, but it was too "maintext" for censors.
She also wrote a short script where Xena and Gabrielle get married, which was then signed and approved by Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi, and table read by Lucy Lawless and Renee OConnor, which technically means they are canonically married.
Is it really possible that the creators of Xena: Warrior Princess didn’t realize they were making a gay love story? I mean really, every single episode has at least one scene that’s so blatantly gay it makes me blush. It just doesn’t seem possible that this happened by accident…

FRANKFORT, Ky. | Teacher's win in Kentucky points to November potential
New Post has been published on https://is.gd/lFwaDU
FRANKFORT, Ky. | Teacher's win in Kentucky points to November potential
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Teachers across the country have left their classrooms this spring to protest at state capitols, closing schools to win pay raises and better funding in mostly Republican-controlled states.
But their most disruptive act yet may well have come Tuesday night in Kentucky, where a high school math teacher who had never run for public office before defeated the state House majority leader in a GOP primary.
The upset could portend a tumultuous November general election in Kentucky and beyond.
In Kentucky alone, at least 34 current or former teachers — two-thirds of them Democrats — will be on the ballot, and dozens more educators are running in Arizona and Oklahoma.
“It should serve as a wake-up call to everyone” in the Kentucky legislature, said Les Fugate, a former GOP political consultant who now runs a public relations firm in Louisville. “You can’t rest on your laurels of being the majority party and the party that can raise the money.”
In Arizona, teachers are pushing for a ballot initiative that would raise taxes on higher earners to pay for public education. At least five teachers are running for legislative seats as Democrats, and the Arizona Education Association’s political arm is backing several Democrats for statewide office.
In Oklahoma, dozens of public school teachers filed for state House and Senate seats, many of them first-time candidates inspired by a two-week teacher walkout over school funding. The state’s primaries are June 26.
Although a similar run for office by Oklahoma teachers in 2016 was largely unsuccessful, many of the candidates this time hope an energized Democratic electorate and an anti-Trump movement will help them in November.
In Kentucky, the teacher momentum could threaten the new Republican majority in the state House. It was two years ago that Republicans rallied to defeat 17 Democratic incumbents and win control of the chamber for the first time in nearly 100 years.
The man credited with recruiting those candidates, Jonathan Shell, was elected majority leader by his peers. But he suffered a shocking defeat Tuesday at the hands of Travis Brenda, a 20-year teaching veteran.
Some Republican lawmakers chalked Shell’s defeat up to the intricacies of local politics, not necessarily the uprising by teachers.
Of the four House incumbents to lose primaries on Tuesday, Shell was the only one who voted for a law that makes changes to the teachers’ retirement plan. Many teachers were against the measure, which will move all new hires into a hybrid plan that does not guarantee them a traditional pension but could end up giving them more benefits over time. Teachers particularly opposed the way lawmakers rushed the bill through in the final days of the legislative session before the public had a chance to read it.
In another district, Richard Heath, a Republican representative from western Kentucky, will face elementary school teacher Charlotte Goddard, a Democrat, in November.
Heath noted that lawmakers approved budgets cuts for most state agencies just so that they could put more than $1 billion into the teachers’ retirement system. They voted to raise taxes to increase education funding. And they mostly exempted current teachers and public workers from changes to the pension system.
“Do the teachers really understand what we did for them?” Heath said. “Maybe that message hasn’t gotten out yet. Surely between now and November we’ll have the opportunity to drive that message home.”
Kentucky Education Association President Stephanie Winkler said the problem isn’t messaging, but funding. While lawmakers voted to increase school funding, Winkler said it is not enough to keep up with inflation, and it’s harming morale.
“I don’t care what kind of message you have. You could be telling me you are Jesus. It’s not going to change the state of the commonwealth and our financial future,” Winkler said. “We’ve got to get our house in order. … It’s going to be hard work, but educators know what needs to be done.”

Glitter and Displeased Scowls
Summary: A continuation of Sawdust And Gears, written by @lawful-evil-novelist. The twins are dropped off at Tockman’s and meet Todd Quinzel. Author’s Note: It took fuck-all to finish this and I apologise for that. For now I’m being a chicken shit about writing Lawfulverse Clock King but it was better to get this out now and then write a continuation later. The important thing is it’s finished, nerds! *Liz Lemon mic drop*
The car pulled up smoothly, right in front of the store. Todd looked up from where he was standing behind the counter, frowning slightly. It was probably nothing. Probably.
The front door of the car opened, and a man with a frown on his face that looked as natural as breathing stepped out onto the sidewalk. He turned to the two teenagers climbing out of the back, both of whom were carrying bags. Todd’s frown faded and he looked at one of the dozens of clocks decorating the walls. Ten minutes to noon. Todd nodded slightly in confirmation. That had to be Melissa and Alexander, the kids of the other Clock King. He’d been told Will was meant to be babysitting them for the week.
Todd took a step to the side, watching the three that were now standing outside of the shop. Fugate appeared to be lecturing the twins, and while Alex was attentive and nodding every so often, Melissa had her arms crossed and had a scowl that was similar to her dad’s, but less displeased and more angry. She said something, jerking her head to point in another direction. Fugate’s frown deepened and he gestured angrily, checking his watch before gripping both of his kids by the shoulder and directing them through the shop door.
“Hi.” Todd greeted as Fugate hovered by the door, pushing Melissa forward. Fugate looked up to Todd, and his lip curled in distaste.
“The Clown’s offspring. Where is Tockman?”
“Out back, working on something.” Trying to ignore Fugate’s attitude, Todd gestured behind him, “I can go get him if you li-“
“That won’t be necessary.” Fugate interrupted, “They’ll only be staying for one week. He had better make sure he takes proper care of them.” Todd just nodded, slowly.
“Oh he will.” Todd guaranteed, with a flat line of a smile. Fugate’s eyes narrowed, but he grunted before turning his attention away from the counter.
“Alexander.”
Melissa crossed her arms across her chest as Alexander turned around, facing Fugate. Todd looked at Melissa before frowning a little in Fugate’s direction.
“Did you want to come over here or…?”
“No.” Fugate replied firmly, with a quick glance around the room, “I’m already too far inside this chaotic hodgepodge as it is.” He returned his attention to Alexander, who looked almost tense.
“Keep an eye on your sister. And the other two.” Fugate’s voice had lowered a degree, but not enough to stop him from being heard, and definitely not enough to hide the look Todd saw sent his way, “Someone here has to be responsible, and I don’t expect it to be the ridiculous excuse for a glitter gel pen.” Without another word he turned on his heel and walked with stiff strides back out of the shop, missing both Todd and Melissa’s mouths open to speak. Melissa shut her mouth again with a snap, as Alexander leant to one side to watch Fugate get back into his car and drive off. Once he was gone, Alexander exhaled and relaxed before facing Todd.
“I’m sorry about him.” Alexander apologised.
“It’s okay. I’d heard he was an asshole.” Todd shrugged. Melissa snorted.
“That’s putting it lightly.”
There was a pause, Melissa scowling as she turned her head to another part of the store, before she finally asked.
“What the hell is that?”
“Huh?” Todd questioned, “Oh, right. German punk.”
“Why?”
“Will listens to it when he’s working.”
“Uh huh. Well try not to stab me while I’m here, clown-boy.” Melissa picked up her bag and walked into the other room. The other two watched her leave and Todd exhaled.
“Wow.”
“I am so sorry about her.” Alexander grimaced.
“It’s okay.” Todd replied, “She and your dad act really similar.” Alexander grunted but shook his head.
“She’s not always that mean.” Prodding at the bag sitting at his feet with his shoe, Alexander frowned, “I think stubbornness runs in the family.”
“No kidding.”
“So,” Alexander changed the subject, “You work here?”
“Sometimes, yeah.” Todd glanced over his shoulder before looking back to Alex, “So what did your dad tell you about Will?”
“That he’s an impulsive idiot who would rather die than have anything in order in his life.” Alexander replied flatly, then paused before asking, “But what’s he actually like?”
“ALEX GET YOUR ASS IN HERE I FOUND A VERSION OF DAD THAT DOESN’T SUCK!”
Alexander turned towards Melissa’s voice, and he quickly picked up his bag and waved to Todd before walking into the other room. Todd waved back, and then he smiled again, this time genuinely.
“He’s great.”

@realslutpuppy
You're thinking of Melissa Good, not Katherine Fugate. Katherine was an established TV show writer before she wrote 'When Fates Collide'. Melissa was not. She was only a Xena fanfic writer who shipped Xena and Gabrielle like no one else dared to. And to be honest, it's freaking incredible that ever happened.
Just all the more reason to love and respect the creators of this show.
confession: 'when fates collide' episode is one of my least favorite episodes in xwp. It doesn't make any sense. It's missing so many things and alti doesn't even belong there *she doesn't even go here*
whoaaa good job you’re on anon, anon!!! I agree that it’s missing some things and that simply bc of the speed at which it has to do plot, things don’t really make a lot of sense. I adore the episode, but mostly for its set up rather than its execution - and ofc the sheer acting chops that Lucy and Renee brought to the table. (GOD! Make me believe they’re more in love I DARE YOU LUCY AND RENEE) But I do wish very much that they’d been able to spend a little longer at least in that world to tie things together a little better.
But I am gonna disagree with you re: Alti - I love her and I’m glad she’s there! With regard to its sister episode Ides it would have made more sense for it to be Callisto via some wonky time/AU magic, but I’ve always preferred Alti to Callisto (le gasp! le heresy!) so it didn’t bother me too much tbh!

Hello I'm here to state some changes and unknown stuff for my smols
Alexander now loves all Disney movies (but is still thoroughly obsessed with Nightmare Before Christmas), and he's now bi. He's allergic to seafood.
Melissa's nail biting isn't as hidden as it was, people have seen her doing it but she'll knock your block off if you point it out. She's gotten in big trouble for coming home with a lipstick stain she wasn't quite able to wash off.
And since Teddy and Glimmer have basically no changes that aren't character-arc related I'll just add an unknown fact for each.
Teddy never tells anyone what Gotham villain places where on his personal list of who's best, and this is for two reasons. He likes the mystery of no one knowing, and the list is constantly changing so no one stays in first (or any place) for long.
Glimmer has a very high pain tolerance, most likely because of her mother's complete inability to feel pain. She also wants to learn how to sew, but hasn't had the time or resources so far.

Couldn’t Tell It Was Christmas
Summary: ‘Christmas’ at the Fugate household Author’s Note: We started with fluff and happiness and now we end with child favouritism. Clock King is a bad parent.
If it weren’t for the obsession with time, you wouldn’t even realise what day it was. There were no decorations in sight, not even a card. Alexander sat at the piano, following along to the sheet music in front of him. Melissa sat on the staircase, otherwise occupied with her phone. Alexander kept playing until about halfway through, when he trailed off. He glanced over his shoulder, saw no one but his sister, and then turned back around and started playing something completely different to what he was supposed to. Whether it was from Nightmare Before Christmas or one of the many other Disney films he was obsessed with, Melissa couldn’t tell. She glanced at Alexander before William walked quickly down the stairs, obviously not wasting time.
“What have I told you about sitting on the stairs?” William scolded.
“I don’t know I wasn’t listening, just like right now.” Melissa answered flatly. On the way down William plucked the phone from her hands, and Melissa’s head spun around in shock.
“Give that back!” She exclaimed angrily, jumping to her feet.
“Not until you learn respect.” William replied, pocketing it, “You live in my house, you follow my rules.”
“That’s fucking original.” Melissa snapped. William ignored her and turned his head towards Alexander.
“What are you playing?” Alexander immediately froze as his father stepped towards him and pointed to the booklet, “Homework, Alexander.”
“Of course.” Alexander replied quietly, and went back to following the sheet music. Melissa’s scowl deepened, glaring holes through the back of William’s head. He went to leave, then stopped.
“Oh...” He muttered, as if it were ruining his hole schedule, and reached into his jacket again. He turned around holding a box in his hand, a cheap ribbon stuck to the top.
“Alexander.”
He stood and walked over, remaining silent. Melissa thought it looked like a gazelle trying to keep eye contact with a hungry lion. Too afraid to move.
William handed over the box, and Alexander glanced at it before opening it.
“A magnifying glass.” William elaborated, “It should fit onto your glasses.”
“Thank you.” Alexander smiled slightly. Though it hadn’t been his idea in the first place, fixing old watches was something he reasonably enjoyed.
“In ten minutes, I’ll be in the study to give you another lesson. I expect to see you there.” William continued. Melissa walked over, and he held an envelope to her chest with a dull thwack. William gave a frown that was obviously meant for her, but he didn’t take his eyes off of Alexander. Melissa opened the envelope that wasn’t even stuck closed, thumbing through the pair of tens. Alexander glanced at her with sympathy as she scowled, turned on her heel, and walked up the stairs. She certainly wasn’t going to turn it down. He knew that she’d had her eye on a new camera for a while now.
“Nine minutes and forty-five seconds, Alexander.” William repeated, then left through another door to wherever he was going. Alexander carefully placed the present back inside its box. He glanced up the stairs, silently debating whether to visit her, but he knew the door would be locked so he simply went back to the piano and started playing again.

Brotherhood
Hello I’m here to make @the-mighty-sorceress‘s drabbles 10x worse and also torture Max. I am a bad person.
Max was still angry, and he had a feeling it was making Niall nervous.
“I’m sure she wasn’t that bad,” he was trying to sound hopeful, something Niall was not good at, even under the best circumstances.
“She was that bad,” Max interrupted. Niall pouted and reached up to fluff the long part of Max’s hair.
“Nevermind her, you’re getting way too worked up over one girl. I’d suggest you like her if that wasn’t your thing.”
Max glanced at Niall, and his brother flashed a crooked smile that showed of the gap in his teeth that, despite an attempt with braces and a front ectomy, was still as wide as ever. Niall didn’t mind it, and neither did Max, it gave him charm, or whatever it was supposed to give an impish little shit like Niall.
“Why are you being so nice?”
Max gritted his teeth at the sound of Melissa’s voice, Niall’s smile faded.
“I mean he’s clearly a jerk.”
Niall turned to the direction of Melissa’s voice, a little hurt, and itching to be a snide little brat like he always did.
“Leave him alone,” Max ordered, “just because you had to get pissy with me doesn’t mean you have any right to be mean to my brother.”
“You’re related to that thing?” Melissa addressed Niall.
“You were right, she is that bad,” Niall nodded.
Before Melissa could say anything else, a loud car pulled up to the curb. Niall knew the car, Max knew the car.
They had to go.
Niall backed from the curb as the car opened, but wasn’t fast enough to stop the hand that reached out and grabbed his wrist. Niall shrieked and tried to pull away, but the person holding him was a lot stronger than he was, and held fast to Niall’s arm.
With a shout, Niall was pulled into the car, and out stepped the last person Max wanted to see right now.
“Give him back,” Max begged, trying to keep his voice from wavering.
“Back?” Lonnie gripped Max’s chin, “I’m taking him back. You and your bitch sister took him from me, or did you forget that?”
“He doesn’t belong to you please!” Max kept going. He’d never convince Lonnie, but he could try, “Please, don’t separate us.”
“Niall was never one of you in the first place,” Lonnie snarled, “he was so much better that you.”
Lonnie released Max’s chin and slapped him across the face so hard all Max recalled was a loud crack and hitting the concrete. Lonnie held Max’s face into the sidewalk with his boot and grinned. He and Niall had the same crooked grin, but Niall’s was so much kinder.
“This is where you belong, and don’t you forget it,” he sneered, then glanced at Melissa, his grin widened. “This your girlfriend Maxie? Did I embarrass you?” He gave Melissa’s hair a hard yank, “You deserve each other, you’re both shit.”
“Say that again,” Melissa snarled as Lonnie returned to the car. Lonnie turned to Melissa.
“You’re both shit, awful, bottom of the barrel,” Lonnie grinned, “Oh I know all about you Melissa Fugate, considering how often your father harps about you. It’s a wonder he hasn’t locked you in a closet for your attitude. I would.”
Melissa almost went purple with fury, and Lonnie didn’t have much time to react before she strode over and decked him clear across the jaw with a resounding crack. In the moment of distraction, Niall scrambled out of the car and hid behind her. Lonnie looked from Melissa to Niall, decided a fight wasn’t worth it, and returned to the car, which promptly took off down the street. When it had disappeared, Niall stepped out and helped Max to his feet. Max yanked his brother into a hug and broke down crying.
“Hey,” Niall whispered, “don’t listen to him Max. You’re worth it, you’re worth the world.”
Max let out a shaky sigh and tightened his grip on Niall.
“I don’t want to lose you,” he admitted, “you and Aisling are the only family I have.”
“I know Max,” Niall turned his head slightly, “I think you owe us an apology, and we owe you a thank you.”
Max glanced at Melissa, who was still glowering down the street, part of it looked worried, maybe even a little scared.
“Hey,” Max tapped Melissa’s shoulder, then wiped away his tears with his sleeve. “you’re not as bad as he says. You’re way better. Got that?”
Melissa glanced at Max, “Who was that? And what was his problem?”
Max took a deep breath, “That was our dad, and his problem is that he lost custody of Niall because of how he treated me and our sister.”
Melissa looked at Niall as if that was the most bizarre string of words she’d ever heard, but shrugged it off and gave a short wave.
“Well, you’re not as awful as I thought you were,” she granted, “I guess I’ll see you around.”
Niall gave a smirk as she walked off, then looked up at Max.
“Is your cheek okay?” he asked.
Max nodded.
“Good.”

Random facts about my OCs
Sorceress’s metahuman gene comes from her father’s side of her family, and as a result her cousin has similar pyrokinetic powers.
Eve has considered becoming a vegetarian, but doesn’t think there’s any point because of Halloween’s carnivorous eating habits
Sebastian wanted to be the next royal scientist. He has no ill will towards Alphys, but he doesn’t think she’s entirely qualified
Libido Lilu loves the song ‘Hellfire’ from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and he doesn’t care how ironic that is
Pleonexia is an extremely talented singer. She was in an acapella group back in her late teens/early twenties called the CC Sirens and while she doesn’t want anyone to know about it they were the best years of her life.
Equinox-Nous has three tattoos. He doesn’t want anyone to know that he only physically got the first one (the quote on his left shoulder) because he has a very low pain tolerance.
Teddy once ran up to Bruce Wayne at a press conference and punched him. He partially blames Bruce for his mum leaving.
Glimmer absolutely hates Valentine’s Day. Why? Because she has a hard enough time having her birthday recognised as it is.
The ending to Corpse Bride pisses off Alexander so much because he wanted Victor and Emily to end up together and thinks Victor and Victoria don’t have the same chemistry or connection.
Melissa chews her nails out of stress. She only does it when she’s sure no one can see her doing it, e.g. when she’s in her room
