Henry VIII Of England/Catherine Of Aragon - Wedding Anniversary.
After becoming a young widow, it was decided that Katherine would marry Henry, who was five years younger than her, in order to keep her precious dowry in England and avoid handing it back to her father, Ferdinand of Aragon. There's no real record of how Katherine felt about this marriage, but there is record of how she felt during the seven years before her second wedding, when she was held virtually as a prisoner at Durham House in London until Henry was of the proper age to marry her. In a letter written to her father about her poor treatment, she wrote "I choose what I believe, and say nothing, for I am not as simple as I may seem." The marriage required papal dispensation, since according to canon law it was illegal for a man to take his deceased brother's wife, as it would be considered a sin. However, Katherine testified that her marriage to Arthur had never been consummated, and therefore was not a true marriage. Because of this, the Pope gave his permission for Henry to take her as his bride, and on 11 June 1509 (just after Henry VIII took the throne), the two were married in an intimate ceremony at Greenwich Palace.
atherine was twenty-three years old at the time of her second wedding, and Henry was almost eighteen. By all accounts, Henry seemed excited to have the beautiful Spanish bride for himself, and it was rumored that he had even been enamored with her when she was his brother's wife. Of course, it was not only a love match - as previously stated, a big motivator in marrying these two was to keep Katherine's dowry in England. Therefore, it was very much a political marriage, but it is nice to think that there was love involved too. Even if Katherine did not love Henry at this time in her life, it is clear that she would grow to love him very much during their twenty-four year long marriage. According to the Calendar of State Papers of Spain, the marriage vows at this wedding went something like this:
“Most illustrious Prince, is it your will to fulfil the treaty of marriage concluded by your father, the late King of England, and the parents of the Princess of Wales, the King and Queen of Spain ; and, as the Pope has dispensed with this marriage, to take the Princess who is here present for your lawful wife? The King answered : I will.  The Princess answered : I will.”

Catherine Of Trastamara: Infanta, Princess & Queen.
Catherine was born at the Archbishop's Palace in Alcalá de Henares near Madrid, on the night of 16 December 1485. She was the youngest surviving child of King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile. Catherine was Infanta Of Castile and Aragon since her birth.
Catherine married with Arthur, Prince Of Wales and heir to the throne of England on 14 November 1501, they were married at Old St. Paul's Cathedral. She became Princess of Wales.
Catherine and new King Henry VIII's wedding took place on 11 June 1509. In a private ceremony in the church of the Observant Friars outside Greenwich Palace. She was 23 years of age. The king was just days short of his 18th birthday.
On Saturday 23 June 1509, the traditional eve-of-coronation procession to Westminster was greeted by a large and enthusiastic crowd. As was the custom, the couple spent the night before their coronation at the Tower of London. On Midsummer's Day, Sunday, 24 June 1509, Henry VIII and Catherine were anointed and crowned together by the Archbishop of Canterbury at a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey.  In that month that followed, many social occasions presented the new Queen to the English public. She made a fine impression and was well received by the people of England.
