Angsty Kyoya backstory, requested by @melancholypirates

So, in the manga (which I haven’t actually read so correct me if I’m wrong), Kyoya was confirmed to come from a strict, albeit wealthy family and his scars came from protecting his younger brother from broken glass. We see in anime canon that he has a desperation to prove himself. Personally, I think that his father (the “breadwinner” or in general Head Of The House) tore down his confidence so much that he just started to grow desperate, and wanted to prove to himself that he was good enough to deserve love.

I saw somebody else’s headcanon a while back that Kyoya had gone blind during the incident with the broken glass that gave him those cheek scars. I really liked that idea and it could tie into this one. Kyoya is the oldest son of a wealthy family and has his father’s respect, he goes blind as a kid and has to learn to do everything all over again without his sight, and lost his father’s support along the way because now he wasn’t as capable as he had been before.
