It was another day for Reyna, trying to find more of herself, and understand her budding powers as a goddess, or something more. Meditation, in a closed room, with nothing but the sound of her own breathing keeping her company. Her thoughts focus on her attachment, her belief, and her actions in regards to keeping life safe and what it means to live.
Of course, that all came crashing down when there was a sudden loud knock on the door.
"L-Lady Reyna, please, you must come see this!" A magister's voice echoes from the other side.
Tumblr media
She sighs, as there always has to be something. "What is it?" She asks, as she opens the door.
"I...I can't properly explain, it's best seen." He says. Curious, Reyna follows the Magister outside. And there she sees it. Something that surprises the experienced guide even.
Tumblr media
A giant tank, towering over the palace even, outside of Arx. It wasn't hard to see, due to the size of it. But that wasn't what surprised her most.
No...it was the signs that children were coming out of it.
"...What...the FFFFFFFFF-" She starts, barely restraining herself from swearing. She takes a deep breath and lets it out.
Tumblr media
"I swear, it's always something terrible..." She mumbles, annoyed, before warping over to the children climbing out of the tank.
"Whaaa!" Most of them shouted when Reyna appeared. They were a mixture of anthropomorphic dogs and cats, and very clearly wildly varying ages. The youngest couldn't be older than four, as she clung to what seemed to be her older brother.
"W...who are you?!" The brother asks, protectively.
"My name is Reyna. I apologize for my sudden appearance frightening you all." She says, as she kneels down to look less scary. "Where did you all come from? And why were you in that tank?" She asks.
The kids introduced themselves each: Malt, Hanna, Kyle, Boron, Socks, Mei, Hack, Chick, Sheena, Jin, Wappa, and Britz. They were the pilots of this tank, called the Taranis, and were trying to save their families. But suddenly, the Taranis glowed brightly and was warped away somehow.
Reyna had half a mind to just go back to their world, kill the Berman Officers, and be done with it. But, she thinks back to how her interference might be a hinderance than a boon. So, the most she can do is the rework the Taranis' teleportation function so that they can warp back home easily.
"It won't take you directly to your families, just last where you warped away from your world. I wish I could help more." Reyna tells them. She feels terrible, these children are going to war, and she's basically sending them back into it. Yet, when she looks upon their determined faces, she thinks...they can make it through this.
Mei happily bounces over and hugs Reyna's leg. "Hehehe, thanks lizard lady!" She says.
Tumblr media
"...Think nothing of it, Mei. And please, call me Reyna." She says, gently petting the little dog girl's head.
With that, the children board the death machine again, and a golden light shines around it. With that, the Taranis is gone from the sight of Arx.
"...I'll help you from afar. I swear, none of you will suffer again." She promises aloud.

Malt smiled as Dave ruffled his hair. "Haha, I kinda get that, actually." He replies. He was the oldest, so it was his responsibility to watch out for the others. In that sense, he kinda thought like Dave did. Hanna did too, though more as the mother of the crew.
Mei giggles as she's picked up. "Weeee!" She looks at the mane and clambers on. "Ahhh, it's super duper soft! You must take really good care of it, Mister Dave!" She exclaims happily.
"Hehehe, Mei looks kinda funny up there!" Hack says giggling.
"It's kinda like a piggy back ride!" Chick adds.
"Hey, hey, I want up there!" Wappa says.
"I think you should let it be Wappa. I don't think it'd be safe for both you and Mei to be up there." Sheena says.
"Hahaha, Mei's having fun at least." Boron says smiling.
"She has fun wherever she goes." Kyle says.
Britz just smiles, as he and the others follow Dave. They assume they're gonna sleep back in the Taranis. It was what they were used to as of late anyway.
Dave smiled at Malt. At the children. He ruffled Malt's head gently as he knelt close to their level. He was tall after all.
"Thats alright." He said kindly.
"Its the duty of adults to take care if children in need. That is at least my personal philosophy." He said with a soft, rumbling chuckle.
Now, he had promised a little girl something, now hadn't he? He lifted Malt's little sister up and on his back as he easily floated in mid-air without any issues with her on him.
There, she could pet his mane, clamber on him, or even go into his man's pocketspace.
She was a little, curious child.
He let her do her thing.
"Now come along children. You look like you've had a long, long day. After a good meal, and a good bath, you also need some well earned rest." He ushered them along in his best dad voice. It wasnt hard since he'd raised a rabble of kids before!

The kids can't help but stare a bit at Belle. She wasn't Caninu or Felineko, obviously. She looked more like some kind of living doll. For all the strangeness they've been seeing lately, Belle was something new.
The youngest of them, a 4 year old named Mei, speaks up as she gets closer to Belle. "Your hair is really pretty!" She says happily.
"Sorry if we disturbed you all. The Taranis' warp function malfunctioned again. It needs to be checked, and the energy levels need time to recover." Socks, the lad with glasses, explains.
Regardless, the kids do follow Belle out of the Taranis. They didn't look like they were from this world.
"We didn't know it could do that until recently, really." Hanna, the white Felineko with pink hair says.
"Hey, what were those things those guys were pointing at us?" Hack asks, a Caninu wearing an army helmet that exposed his eae, pointing at the ones with Wispons around.

Thank Gaia Belle had managed to prevent anyone from starting to attack this tank, though now her attention went to the twelve kids inside the tank. "I'm Belle, though I'm more concerned why you have a tank. That's not something children should be handling." The tinkerer wondered if it was some sort of experimental tank Eggman had been working on and they stole it. Strange how a tank randomly ending up in the base is normal for her.
Belle hoped she could get some information before Lanolin came to find out what was going on as she wasn't the nicest when under stressful situations. "How about you all safely step out of the tank and so I can ask you questions?" The last think the tinkerer wanted was these kids to start using this thing if they felt threatened.

They look down from the door they exited, and see the...they didn't know what she was, but she looked like a doll. A young cat in a cloak also carried a doll, and she looked at Belle fascinated. They all noticeably freaked out when they saw the weapons pointed at them.
"Wh-what the heck are they pointing at us?!" Kyle yells out, taking a stance ready to duck if it got ugly.
"I-I don't know. But they look rather advanced." Socks says, trying to see what they were from their distance. Luckily, it seems like the doll that was climbing up got the others to lower their arms.
"That was close...that could have gone badly." Britz says, as he had his hand on a pocket dagger he was about to pull out and throw if needed.
"Umm...sorry about the freak out. And thanks for sticking up for us. I'm Malt, by the way." The young boy with the cap says. He then introduces everyone one by one. Mei, Hanna, Boron, Kyle, Socks, Chick, Hack, Sheena, Jin, Wappa, and Britz. "What's your name by the way?" He asks.
There was never anything that could be considered a normal day in the Restoration. Something was always going on, either with Eggman, external or even internal shenanigans. This time, it was external shenanigans. All of a sudden, outside the Restoration HQ was a giant tank. It wasn't Eggman in design, or noticeably of any design seen before.
And not long after it appeared, some heads began poking out...children, coming out of the tank. Young dogs and cats.
"Huh...where is this now?" A young dog boy with a cap on his head muses aloud.
"Dunno. But it sure as heck ain't Gasco." A young cat boy in a suit replies.
Tumblr media
"No need for such thanks. I'm simply doing my job is all. I'm happy to fix anything that needs to be fixed." Belle just finished repairing a hover bike, putting up her tools and getting ready to walk off. That was until a tank appeared out of nowhere just crushing all her work and nearly scaring the bolts out of her.
Tumblr media
"Gear and starters, what's going on now?" Belle asked aloud as people were now scrambling to get their Wispon's with Wisps flying into them for this possible threat. The tinkerer thought it best to just get back into base, though then noticed some kids poke their head out, and quite a few of them. Followed by the puppet seeing a lot of people pointing weapons at the tank. She swiftly scrambled to climb the tank.
Tumblr media
"Don't fire! There's kids in there! I repeat, don't fire!" Belle shouted as she waved her arms rather for anyone out of range to signal them not to fire either. Most of the soldiers who heard Belle seemed confused, though saw the kids as well, quickly aiming down with other's following suit.

Socks and Jin seemed a bit sad, but had to respect Dave's wishes. It was true, they should be careful, since they don't know what these things even are for. Britz was glad that Dave gave the warning and line. He felt if he didn't, the two could have gotten hurt taking it apart.
The children looked amazed at the food before them. Some of these meals they had never seen before, because again, WW2 era level of tech France. Of course, they still do their best to enjoy it. Hack, Chick, and Wappa are messy eaters, trying to grab desert first, but Hanna keeps them in line to eat their main courses first.
Sheena meanwhile is fascinated by the magic. The ease of it, and the kindness of Dave reminds her of her father. She feels a bit more comfortable around the dragon for it.
"Oooo, these veggies do look tasty actually!" Boron says happily chowing down, easily eating everything on his plate.
"Hey, at least try and eat it civilized!" Kyle says, using good table manners.
"Okay, I'll get super clean then! I don't wanna make your fur dirty too!" Mei says happily, and eats carefully, as Malt guides her on how to do so.
They're loud, but they're happy. They hadn't really had a chance for peace like this since they boarded the Taranis. After all, when your giant tank lurches with every move, rest doesn't come easy. Not to mention all the fighting they had to do, and the heavy responsibility on their shoulders.
Just having one night, where they can be themselves, just be kids...it was good for them.
Dave forgot on how incredibly curious children could be, and willful. Dave only smiled with patience.
"Im afraid you can't poke nor prod at my machines. You can look, but no more. If I told you why, you'd call me a bit silly for it. But essentially, I don't believe you are ready for it." He said.
Most of his appliances weren't that special. Run of the mill things, except for the oven and stove. Simple to use, but they ran on mana batteries that woukd essentially last a mortals life time.
Well the microwave too, but it was so small it didn't take much. And maybe the fridge and cooler too....
Okay so hed made a lot of improvements. He didn't exactly have electricity here or a gas guzzling generator. He used what he had available.
He summoned the food on the table. It was a lot of good food. To them likely expensive food. Fresh too since the space he used didn't decay nor cool it. It was fresh out of the oven more or less.
And since Dave really did need a lot of food, or specifically calorie intake. It was a lot of meat with spreading of vegetables, potatoes and sauces.
Chicken, boar, venison, and goose for the meat, and a whole lot of other things.
"Dig in!" Dave said in lieu of distraction. He could tell that the kids would be a handful.
He summoned cutlery and dishes, using his magic to give them all a spread of their choice and giving a healthy amount of greens, sauce and water to drink.
The big boy he gave less meat, more greens. Yes, that kid needed a diet.
As for Mei....
"It is. Maybe later sweetie. First, food, then maybe a bath for all of you. You look like you could use a good bath."
Hed make separate "rooms" outside. The void really wasn't cold nor hot. It just was. Hed give them their own space to take a bath, but they'd be able to talk. And while they did that, he could clean their clothes.

The kids climbed into their respective bunks. It was amazing how this place could hold all 12 of them to begin with.
"Malt and the others found it first! I dunno where they got it." Hack points out.
"Well, we didn't know it existed either until we found it." Socks points out.
"It started when we heard a voice on the radio. We didn't know who she was, but she warned us of the Berman attack on our village in time for us to avoid it. She then told us to hide in the cave. I think she knew we'd find the Taranis in it." Malt explains.
"We don't know her name, but she's been like a guide, ya know?" Kyle says, removing his tie.
"I don't know how much we should trust it, but we didn't really have a choice at the time." Hanna points out.
"It's been kinda scary, and the ghost keeps popping out too!" Mei says, as she holds her blanket close.
"Seeing that ghost freaked us out bad enough that we ended up giving away our position to you guys." Chick adds.
"We've all seen it, but it never gets any less strange." Sheena tells Dave shyly.
"Even when we try to talk to her, she doesn't really seem to say much." Boron muses mellowed.
Malt smiled as Dave ruffled his hair. "Haha, I kinda get that, actually." He replies. He was the oldest, so it was his responsibility to watch out for the others. In that sense, he kinda thought like Dave did. Hanna did too, though more as the mother of the crew.

The Soul Cannon was odd. The chamber was clearly too small for any adult to fit in, let alone one of his size. It's almost as if it was designed...for children to use. A disturbing thought to say the least.
Either way, the children come out of the bath, and dry themselves off. Hanna helps Mei, and each one gets nice and dry. Hack shakes himself dry first, only for Chick to throw the towel on him. The others are pretty normal about it.
"Man, it's been a while since I had a bath that nice." Kyle says stretching. He seemed to quite enjoy the bath.
"Woooow! Our clothes are so clean. I didn't know they could be so clean." Boron says as he looks his over. Everyone puts theirs on.
"Thank you, Mr. Dave. I feel bad though, since you're doing a lot of nice things for us, and we can't really give you much in return." Malt says. He thought what they could do, but with what they've seen Dave do, there really isn't much.
Dave forgot on how incredibly curious children could be, and willful. Dave only smiled with patience.

"Yes sir, thank you Mister Dave." Malt says smiling. With that the kids follow him into the kitchen. They look around amazed by how different it was from anything they knew.
"Huh, this kitchen has items and equipment not found in the Taranis...I wonder if I study it, I could perhaps create a variant that utilizes the power source of the Taranis?" Socks muses aloud, looking around the various items that would be unfamiliar to children from what is essentially WW2 France.
"Yo, Dave, do you mind if we take a look at some of this stuff? It's pretty cool." Jin asks, specifically pointing at a microwave.
"Be careful you two. I know you're both versed in fixing the Taranis, but the technology here isn't the same." Britz warns the two.
"Hey, Mister Dave! Is your mane soft? Can I pet it?" Mei asks, excitedly bouncing up and down.
Hanna meanwhile is keeping an eye on Hack, Chick, and Wappa, making sure they don't try anything. They were planning a prank in not so hushed whispers. Kyle is trying to keep Boron from drooling over the idea of lots of food to eat. Sheena just holds onto Bluette, a bit nervous around Dave due to his incredibly powerful magic.
"Whaaaat?!" Boron cries out.
"Nyehehe, you got him down good mister!" Wappa says, snickering at Boron's plight.
"Now Wappa, you also tend to try and get out of eating your vegetables." Hanna points out in a motherly tone.
"Aww come on, do you gotta call me out like that?!" Wappa whines. The other kids laugh, like it was a rather normal conversation between them all.
"Thank you, Mister Dragon. I think having a good meal would be nice to have." Malt says smiling.

"My...the inventions here are astounding. Imagine what we could learn just by studying them!" Socks mumbles in awe. Jin was similarly impressed by the variety of tools and materials.
Of course, all the children screamed when the robot popped out.
"Whaaaaa!" Mei cries out, and runs away from it, thinking it's gonna scoop her up. She runs into the kitchen.
"Mei, please, it's okay!" Malt calls out, following after her. Neither one notice the other presence in the room. The other kids are trying to avoid the disc like object.
It was unlikely for anyone to find Dave's workshop on purpose, so it's no surprise that the children end up finding it on accident. The Taranis warped outside of the building directly, and needed repairs from the strain of warping. They reasoned the workshop had the tools and materials they'd need to fix it.
"Whoooa, it's so big!" Mei says wandering around ahead of everyone.
"Mei, wait!" Malt cries out running after her. Thus began a chain of the children running in one after the other. Mei doesn't realize what she caused, and is just excitedly exploring the building like it's a playground.
Inside of what she finds are different areas for different sorts of work.
Tools in each section are carefully laid in neat order and a stair to the left leads upstairs.
Just at those stairs are shelves that hold different sort of materials, all labelled and categorised and locked, just in case.
The workstation with the most work is laden with schematics, tools, and bits and bobs that are still being tested and tinkered with.
From upstairs, they can hear the sound of someone going through a kitchen. A deep sonorous voice humming aloud.
The workplace is neat, way neat. A little area that seem to be about as tall as a foot and as wide as a leg seems to be in one corner. The seams of it closed, the metal there sticking out, but for a good reason as there is a cleaner bot in there.
It pops open just as the kids enter, and a disk like object made out of plastic slowly swoops in as it starts to clean the floor!

Mei giggles happily as she holds onto Dave's mane. She's gentle, and smiling as she rides along. Malt is happy to see his little sister enjoying her time with Mr. Dave.
"Forgive me. I suppose it is difficult for me to feel normal. I am Berman, the enemy they are fighting. I wanted to help them stop my people." Britz replies, looking at Dave. "I may be young, but I was still a soldier in their forces. I could sense from you...anger. And I feared your reaction to me being Berman." He admits.
"Britz is good, though! He saved me from a Berman camp that captured my family!" Sheena immediately defends him.
The engine was self-sustaining, and even self-repairing. At least when out of immediate combat, that was the impression it gave him. The weapons were also clearly modified, and it was obvious the children's hands were on them.
Beyond that, the children woke up when they felt like they should. But the lack of daylight was unusual to them. They initially freaked out before remembering they were in the void.
Eventually, as Malt and Hanna went down the lifts to cook breakfast first, they saw Dave working.
"Mr. Dave! What are you doing up here?!" Malt asks surprised.
"You didn't stay up all night working on the Taranis did you?" Hanna asks, concerned for the dragon. Neither of them knew that the dragon didn't need to sleep, and were appropriately concerned otherwise.

As Socks looks back to notice the cleaning bots again, his eyes sparkle. "So that's what that strange robot we first encountered does! Its purpose is to clean! I should see if I cannot create something similar when we return home!" He says excitedly.
"I'll lend a hand building it. Having one of those back in the factory would actually be pretty handy. The men always leave things so dirty around the work stations." Jin mentions.
They see the rooms with the bathrooms made before them.
"Wow...Mister Dave, your magic is amazing!" Sheena says. She had never seen magic used like this before, let alone with how strong it is. She was only 9, but even still, this was incredible to her.
With that, the kids take their own individual baths, for the most part. Mei goes with Hanna, as she's still too young to bathe on her own yet.
Chick and Hack also bathe together, as they're twins, and have been in the same bath before. They end up enjoying splashing each other with hot water and having fun.
"Ahhh...that feels nice." Boron says, sinking into the hot water.
"I know right? Never knew stone could be good for a bath tub." Kyle muses, washing himself up.
"It's been a while since I've been able to clean myself. The Berman at the camp would often shut me out of the cleaning rooms." Britz chimes in.
"I dunno how that dragon does it, but he's pretty cool!" Wappa says happily.
"Yeah, he's really nice. But, it seems kinda lonely here. I don't know where it is, but it can't be all that fun living on his own." Malt says, thinking about doing something nice for Dave.
Dave forgot on how incredibly curious children could be, and willful. Dave only smiled with patience.

All the children being lifted in the air stopped their screaming. Their gaze and awe fell on the dragon. From shock, confusion, awe, and surprise, they all stare at him.
"Wooow. He's really big, huh?" Boron muses.
"Seriously, that's what you focus on?" Kyle groans.
"This magic...its like the Nono." Sheena muses softly in surprise.
When they are asked how they got here, Malt looks ashamed. He decides to explain and take responsibility.
"Well, we were trying to get back to our world with the Taranis' teleport function. But it brought us here by accident and broke." Right after Reyna fixed it for them, too. "Sorry, we should have knocked first, at least." He says, bowing his head.
"Sorry, Mr. Dragon!" Mei says, looking sad too.

The siblings were surprised when suddenly lifted into the air. Their eyes then land on the large dragon dressed in clothes they didn't recognize.
"Ooooo! Malt, it's a dragon!" Mei says as she reaches out to try and pet the mane. She doesn't realize she has no control over her current floating nature.
"I'm sorry, Mister Dragon, sir. We didn't mean to intrude. We came in to hopefully find some tools and materials." Malt explains. He then hears the others running away from the roomba. "Ah, are they in trouble?!" Malt asks concerned, trying futiley to move and get back to them.
"This strange contraption appears to be chasing us!" Socks cries out, nobody realizing it was just after the dirt they dragged in.
"Hey, hey, hey, keep it away! Leader's orders!" Wappa yells.
