Meghan Shimek

This week during my weaving workshop, I researched other artists who have done weaving as pieces. I found this artist who does a lot of fashion techniques to create art such as this massive piece using large wool and weaving it together.

She started by using smaller scale and exploring in the soft textures but it turned into large scale woven sculptures and hangings. She believed weaving was a form of therapeutic healing for her and she responded to her own personal loss with this art.

I can see a similarity with her weaving compared to mine and how hers looks like an eye and mine is an eye.

Portrait of a tired person in work space. I’ve spent the last few weeks prepping for my USA tour. Packing and shipping boxes, checking in with my loom manufacturer, sending emails.
