Megarama Cinema

I took these pictures on the 30th of October while i was going to watch the movie "Joker" in Megarama cinema in Ain Diab Bd de la corniche, Casablanca 20050, Morocco.

🎞️ Description : The picture on the left showcases a bunch of movie posters and most are Hollywood movies mainly (Joker, Maleficent, It, Angry Birds, Terminator, Zombieland, The Lion King, Shaun The Sheep...) these movies are all in the same movie theater, Megarama, as shown in the picture on the right.

🎞️ Reflection : The movie industry has been a main platform of mass media since the beginning of the 20th century. The role of films and movies is basically to entertain people through visual storytelling which aspires to imitate reality and may send implicit ideas, or sell products and lifestyles through it. Hollywood has a huge impact on the population of the world as a whole. And in Morocco specifically most of the teenagers are more into American movies than any other movies. If you go to the cinema you will find that the fullest cinema rooms would be the ones playing Hollywood movies compared to the other rooms who are playing any kind of other movie. If you ask people on the street, everybody knows who Leonardo DiCaprio is, and who Angelina Jolie is. They know Titanic, they know Avatar, they would basically know all blockbuster movies in Hollywood. And that affects their taste, their peronality, their entourage and so on. The cinematography culture is growing rapidly in Morocco, and citizens are starting to go to the movies for a fun sunday night, or majoring in the film industry dreaming of working in Hollywood one day, so the display of movies in posters or billboards in our streets or social media or in the cinema is impacting the crowds daily and leaving a print on them wether they sense it or not.
