TikTok Creator Yukii Artana is Our Real Life Modern Day Hero
Thanks to food delivery riders like Yukii, many are able to stay safe at home during the pandemic.
Manila, Philippines - April 19, 2021 - These days, many depend on delivery services for essential goods like groceries, medicine and food. Thanks to delivery riders, countless families are able to stay safe and protected indoors. 27-year old Julio "Yukii" Artana from Imus, Cavite is one of those delivery riders. Along with others like him, Yukii braves the streets every day to bring food to people's homes.
A rider who delivers both food and fun Yukii is also a TikTok creator, entertaining his followers with dance videos, which he frequently creates while wearing his delivery uniform. He first joined TikTok because it was popular during lockdown. Little did he know that, a year later, he would have 132k followers on the app, and that his content would gain millions of views.

Having worked as a food delivery rider for two years, Yukii feels a sense of responsibility and pride in his job, and in his ability to provide this service to many Filipinos. He shares, "Masaya ako dahil nakakapaghatid ako ng tamang serbisyo sa customers ko, at nakakatulong din po kami upang mabawasan ang paglabas ng mga tao."
The job isn't always easy, and Yukii says that some days aren't as productive and profitable as others as far as bookings are concerned. Apart from this, he also faces many other challenges as a rider. "Bukod po dito sa pandemic , may pagsubok din kami dapat kakaharapin kagaya po ng panahon ngayon. Sobrang init din po sa labas, samahan pa ng usok ng mga sasakyan minsan umuulan pa, at isa sa mga kinakatakutan namin na minsan na may mga client kami na hindi nakuha yung pag pagkain dahil sa kulang sa inpormasyon, like wrong pin location, dahil pera talaga namin pinang-aabono namin," he says.
The health risk is another major concern for Yukii. Knowing this, he always makes sure to follow proper safety protocols. Yukii says, "Sa totoo lang po nakatakot talaga ang virus dahil hindi natin sya nakikita, kaya double ingat din ako sa sarili ko, at tamang suot lang ng facemask, palakasin lang resistensya, at sumunod lamang sa tamang protocols."

Living With It Sweetly: Healthy Ways to Control Your Diabetes
Diabetes has been a bitter pill to swallow, particularly for countries affected by the rising number of cases every year. In 2019, approximately 463 million adults (20-79 years) were living with this chronic metabolic disease, characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels; by 2045, this will rise to 700 million, according to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF).
A similar trend is also happening in the Philippines. In 2020, deaths due to Type 2 diabetes mellitus or adult diabetes ranked fourth at 37,265 after heart disease (99,680), cancer (62,289), and cerebrovascular diseases (59,736), as revealed by Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) data.
However, having diabetes does not mean you can never have a healthy, everyday life. Â
Working closely with your doctor can help you manage diabetes, and you can also start focusing on some critical changes in your daily life. Here are some ways to manage your blood sugar levels, as listed by the Department of Health (DOH). Â
Keep yourself active. Despite being inside your home most of the time due to existing lockdowns and community quarantines, staying active is crucial to help control your blood sugar levels. A little cardio can be a big help, no need to push yourself to do hardcore workouts.
Workout at least three times a week for at least 30 minutes each session. Not only can it help you bring down your blood sugar levels, but it can also help you lose some extra pounds, increase your endorphins (happy hormones) and ease stress. Â
Manage your stress. Getting stressed when you have diabetes will do you no good. When youâre stressed, your blood sugar levels go up. That is why it pays to relieve your stress by doing hobbies that relax you and doing some breathing exercises or yoga.
Quit Smoking. Smoking is harmful to your health, especially if you have diabetes. In addition, it may trigger other health problems, such as heart disease, eye disease, stroke, and kidney disease. Smoking also can make it harder to exercise. If youâre a smoker, consult with your doctor about the ways to quit.
Maintain normal blood pressure. Since hypertension puts a person at high risk of cardiovascular disease, primarily associated with diabetes, reliable blood pressure monitoring and control is highly advised. Seek your doctorâs advice on proper management.
Eat healthy. Eating healthy food is crucial when you have diabetes. Do not skip or delay meals since it causes fluctuations in blood sugar levels. It also pays to eat more fiber-rich foods like vegetables and cut down on salt. Drinking alcohol, on the other hand, must be avoided. Dietary guidelines recommend no more than two drinks for men and not more than one drink per day for women.

Sanofi celebrates International Self Care Day with Power To Love Yourself Completely Online Event
Manila, Philippines â In celebration of International Self Care Day, Sanofi Philippines held an Instagram Live event called Power to Love Yourself Completely to discuss topics related to self care. Sanofi invited MommaNManila founder Michelle Aventajado and She Talks Asia Co-Founder and CEO Lynn Pinugo to talk about self care, with topics such as how to teach kids about self care, and how working millennials can take care of themselves while working from home.

As a mom, Michelle Aventajado also pointed out that self care can be anything simple. âSelf care can be so many things. For me, itâs waking up early enough and having quiet time for myself, reading my bible and drinking coffee. For me, itâs to rest when Iâm tired, stop when Iâm overwhelmed, pause and reflect. And when my kids see me doing that, Iâm setting an example.â

Today they are introducing a new set of changes for users aged 13-17 to further enhance these proactive protections. These changes will continue rolling out to their users globally over the coming months.
New changes to Direct Messaging privacy settings TikTok wants to help teens make active decisions about their privacy settings, so when someone aged 16-17 joins TikTok, their Direct Messaging setting will now be set to 'No One' by default. To message others, they will need to actively switch to a different sharing option. Existing accounts who have never used DMs before will receive a prompt asking them to review and confirm their privacy settings the next time they use this feature. These updates build on their current messaging protections, such as not allowing images or videos to be sent in messages and disabling messaging for accounts under age 16.
Decide who can watch your videos The process of making a TikTok is fun and creative â choosing music, picking effects, and getting the transitions right â but it is just as important to choose who that video will be shared with. To help teens understand the sharing options available to them, TikTok is now adding a pop-up that appears when teenagers under the age of 16 are ready to publish their first video, asking them to choose who can watch the video. They won't be able to publish their video until they make a selection.
 With each video going forward, creators can decide who can watch before they post. Accounts aged 13-15 are set to private by default, and private accounts can choose to share their content with Followers or Friends, as the 'Everyone' setting is turned off. Duet and Stitch are also disabled for accounts under 16.
Choose who can download your public videos
TikTok is also providing additional context to help teens aged 16-17 understand how downloads work, so they can choose the option that's most comfortable for them. If they opt to turn the feature on, they'll now receive a pop-up asking them to confirm that choice before others can download their videos. Note that downloads are permanently disabled on content from accounts under the age of 16.
A mindful approach to push notifications
TikTok prioritises and supports the well-being of their community members, with features like Screen Time Management that can be enabled both by account holders or by parents as part of Family Pairing. They want to help their younger users in particular develop positive digital habits early on, and they regularly consult with leading pediatric experts and youth well-being advocates to develop their Youth Portal, bullying prevention guide, and other features that support youth-well being. Now, they will be drawing upon this research to make changes that reduce the time period during which their younger teens can receive push notifications. Accounts aged 13-15 will not receive push notifications from 9pm, and accounts aged 16-17 will have push notifications disabled starting at 10pm.
These changes continue to build on their ongoing commitments as there's no finish line when it comes to protecting the safety, privacy, and well-being of their community. TikTok and AHA! Officially Launch Their Partnership on May 23
On this day, a special #AHAmazingLearning segment featuring TikTok EduCreators aired on the show.
Continuing to pursue partnerships that promote learning in a fun and entertaining way, TikTok has collaborated with the GMA News and Public Affairs program, AHA!. This educational program is hosted by Drew Arellano, and showcases facts and trivia on a wide range of topics.
The partnership was officially launched on May 23 though a special #AHAmazingLearning segment on the show's grand episode. During the segment, TikTok EduCreators had the chance to share amazing ideas and information, science experiments, and artsy tutorials on national television. The grand episode also featured the launch of AHA!'s original mascot.
The partnership between TikTok and AHA! kicked off with the #AHAmazingLearning campaign on the app last May 12. TikTok Partners with AHA! to Bring #AHAmazingLearning to More Filipinos
Knowledge and creativity come together through this enriching collaboration.
TikTok has become an enjoyable app for learning, filled with interesting and informative content. Everything from Science and Math, arts and crafts, and even cooking can be learned from creators on the platform.
