So according to Thom’s letter, the Inquisitor asked him to join her in Minrathous, and Dorian mentions that a “reunion” is impending.
I imagine them meeting up after the final battle, he is so relieved that she is alive and well – and that this long, long war is finally over and they can go home. Together.
He’s happy to see Dorian as well, of course. It’s true that necromancers always made him feel uneasy, but after years of being married to one and friends with another he’s learned to at least respect their craft.
The Inquisitor happily introduces him to Rook, the bright-eyed young hero of the day. Oh, and she’s also a necromancer, isn’t that amazing!
And then they’re both introduced to Rook’s partner, and Thom is momentarily relieved to greet a very polite man closer to his own age, with grey hair and kind eyes, but then oh – is that a staff with a glowing human skull? And is that skeleton in a mage robe talking?
Oh we would love to visit you in the Necropolis, he vaguely hears the love of his life exclaim with a genuine delight he hasn’t heard from her in months (years? How long has she carried the weight of the world?). Is it true that skeletons do all the cooking? That’s so exciting, isn’t it love?
Thom sighs, takes her cold (small, familiar) hand in his and smiles. Of course darling.
(He resigns himself to a life among bones and sickly green smoke, surrounded by mages who make skeletons walk and corpses talk.)
(At least he bonds with Emmrich over their shared dislike of the nobility.)
