Hi! RPer asker from before here, absolutely love your blog, btw, and that image of Cu Alter and Medb's kiss in the manga almost left me in tears, lord knows why. But yeah, to the question. Suppose a character questions Medb's ability with man, citing Cu as 'Oh, what was the name of the one you couldn't conquer? Can't quite remember'. How would you think she would react?

Passionlip mentions that Medb is a beauty but hates it when people imply or outright say that she has no luck with men, so canonically she would be really bothered by it. Twice as much— no ten times as much if you mention Cú specifically.

Sometimes, Medb can let insults slide because she’s arrogant enough to have something else in store for them such as Nero calling her a bitch, only for Medb to have Arjuna and Alter at her side to kill Nero and the rest of the assassination squad in America.

However, she would definitely not let a comment like that go out of pride because like Cú describes her, she is a warmongering lady who doesn’t like backing down. Especially because it puts her in a conundrum. Medb does not want to actively pursue Cú Chulainn out of insecurities of her worth and what it means to love and be loved. However, she still admires him above everyone and enjoys being able to be the antagonist he needs to be a hero, which is a huge reason that she does it anyways. Basically wants him to be the one who buckles first without her having to admit anything when he’s not going to do that with someone who can’t be honest in the first place

She can’t just outright try to prove she could seduce him because that’d defeat the purpose of her putting a wall between them. Anything she’d say would be a bunch of hot air, but she can’t put her money where her mouth is because otherwise that means becoming vulnerable and genuinely voicing what she wants. Part of it is also that she doesn’t really get how to love/be loved without it being at her own expense.

She is the only one that is self sabotaging herself when it comes to Cú, and she knows it. She makes the rules, and both her and Cú follow em. It’s when she breaks her own rules that Cú is noticeably receptive towards her, and every occasion of that, she’s been completely unaware of it for one reason of another.

So basically, she’d definitely make an unnecessary fuss because she’s offended, but there’s nothing she can really say that would help her case. She might just turn it on the other person and get hostile/violent or stomp off with some haughty last words to avoid the issue. She’s like a chaotic version of Kaguya-Sama that won’t admit that Cú has won ages ago, but he’s a good guy that’s never going to point that out to her

If you’re roleplaying her, this could be a pivotal point of her reflecting on what she wants in life and whether or not she will be more honest with herself and other people. It’s something she kind of talks about in her voicelines with Guda, but she only scratches on the surface of the topic.

Incidentally, Cú Chulainn is self aware and will readily admit that he has no luck with women, which is a big difference between the two
