November 5, 2024 - Buff-banded Tyrannulet (Mecocerculus hellmayri) These tyrant flycatchers are found in forests in the Andes from southern Peru through Bolivia to northern Argentina. While the details of their diet are unknown, they pick food items from foliage and twigs while perched or hovering, usually foraging alone and often joining mixed-species flocks. Almost nothing is known about their breeding behavior, though a juvenile was observed in May in Bolivia.
