(Spoilers for BH6 #2 and #3.) Alex Miromoto and Olivia Vega (aka Mechadama), two villains from the comics that are actually worthy of appearing in the show proper. Having a pseudo-worshipper in Vega (not to mention another Olivia) would have been an interesting episode for Go Go. And the B-plot for #2 (one of Wasabi’s professors almost figuring out he’s in Big Hero 6) would have given some much needed attention for Wasabi. But alas, they’re both stuck in the comics.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that we’re going to get any more issues either (since the show is done). But perhaps they can live on in fanfiction...

BH6: The Series (Issue #3)

Ah, Mechadama. I've researched her before because I believe she was inspired by someone from the OG comics.

I've noticed that the panels are very dynamic this time around but Nicoletta Baldari did the art for all three of these, it makes me wonder how far it would go (given that this gets more issues) because the first two had good art but look like a warm-up compared to this.

Mechadama uses very similar weapons as the 6, including Gogo's disc and bombs similar to Honey's but more lethal and even rechargable. Mechadama actually outruns Gogo to which Honey remarks that hasn't been done before which leads me to believe that this comic takes place between ep 12 and 16 in the first season of the Series because Momakase HAS outran her before and Noodle Burger Boy turned evil in episode 12 which was referenced in the first issue but Season 1 aired 2017-2018 while just the first issue came out in 2019.

But through that moment, this comic becomes about Gogo learning more about how she can rely on the other members and work together (a reoccurring theme in BH6) and how she doesn't just have to overtake her.

They end it with giving Mechadama some layering which I won't spoil in hopes that you'll check it out but it's a wholesome moment, I wish we could get more reoccurring characters like this.

As Gogo is sulking over being outran by another roller-skating villain, cracks appear in Olivia's bond with the team when she figures their secret identities out.

I thought about putting all new mutant designs that appear in CoM part 2 in one post, but then I decided to post them separately to share some production notes that I have for each.

The idea of Olivia's mutant form being based on a snow leopard came from my mutual @darkslayernk when I first announced my decision to include her and the other IDW comics-exclusive characters in Monogatari. And since it's also a spotted feline, I do think it would suit her because her character initially serves as a parallel to Gogo.

It's Sycorax time, folks!

Summary: Defeating Obake is the conclusion to phase 1 of the Big Heroverse, and marks the beginning of phase 2, which is usually when things become way bigger than before. Big Hero 6 have decided to give their super suits upgrades in order to take on villains more effectively, while some of them found opportunities to gain work experience. However, as bioengineered monsters started appearing in San Fransokyo at the same time, the heroes have no choice but to take on this harrowing new challenge. Especially Gogo, who finds herself in a difficult situation in the midst of the plot which puts her double life as a superhero, as well as her sense of judgement on the line.

Who’s your favorite villain to write for? Who’s your least favorite?

Is there any character where you find you have to really think hard in order to write out their actions and dialogue?

Favourite villain, Momakase. Definitely.

Least favourite... I didn't really think about it much. Richardson is obviously my least favourite character to write (he only showed up once so far), but he's not really a villain. So if I have to pick one I think it's Noodle Burger Boy.

Wendy and Olivia are pretty hard to write because I had to pay extra effort in planning all sorts of different aspects to their characterisation. Wendy is very much like Honey Lemon, but since she showed up so little in canon I find it difficult when I'm depicting her experiencing negative emotions (such as when she loses her cool when Obake insulted Professor Hardy). And Olivia, she also only showed up once in the IDW comics so everything except being Mechadama and having a crush on Gogo is original.
