Actually doesn’t-understand-casual-sex Slade is awesome. I imagine him and Jason would hook up a few times on impulse and Slade would get attached and feel a responisbility to protect Jason. After the first time Slade shoots someone for messing with Red Hood Jason swoons. 

And I mean, Jason doesn’t do anything casual ever. That boy wouldn’t know how to not care if his life depended on it. Jay was lost for Slade immediately after their first time when Slade whispered in his ear that he’d take care of him.

It’s the perfect set-up for Slow Burn where they were fucking since the very start but both first try to deny the depths of their commitment to themselves and then believe the other doesn’t reciprocate their romanitc affections.
