like. god i am Not against sonic covering the topic of abuse, like, at all. i'm a metal sonic fan i'd be a hypocrite if i was. but like. i cannot stand how ken penders writes it bc it’s blatantly obvious he’s not aware he is writing abuse and therefore it’s so badly done and unsatisfying. like obviously characters like locke are meant to be bad parents but their patterns of abusive and controlling behaviour is never examined and is in fact justified as well intentioned but regardless of intentions that shit is abuse and it is in fact bad to write “your parents abandoned and controlled you because they love you” in a children’s comic bc like. real life kids are in fact victims of abuse and they can’t understand yet that you’re just shit at writing there were undoubtedly real kids hurt by this depiction. meanwhile it's like. not at all ambiguous eggman is a bad person who treats people including his children badly lmao.
