drabble title: a friend who: caesar madea kane & cassian barakzai pairing: caesar madea kane & cassian barakzai *though currently they’re just friends requested by: no one project: magically inclined triggers: none? notes: to lazy to explain anything to readers. just felt like doing a cass & cee drabble before bed.
Tumblr media
The amount of confusion Caesar must be feeling makes Cassian feel a little bad for her. Knowing you're chosen for greatness must seem like a lot when it’s not something you’ve prepared for your whole life like she has. Though fate says the two of them are supposed to work together, the idea of having to be chosen at all must be a bit much to wrap one’s head around. Especially with a history like Caesar’s.
Thing is, when Cass comes back to her weird little knick-knack shop the next day, expecting Cee to run off and call her crazy after she’d thought it over, Cee ends up walking over to her as soon as the bell chimes and Cass walks through the door to the shop.
“Hey,” Cass says coolly, wincing slightly because she expects fuckery might be afoot and that this might be some sort of game.
But no, Cee just shrugs, smiles. “Hey. I’ve been thinking about the ‘Chosen Two’ stuff, and I want to tell you that I’m in. And even though I had a full on panic attack about it last night, because - despite what you say - I don’t have a magic bone in my body, I think I can help you and I want to help the world, too.” The dark haired woman nods slowly, pushes curly hair behind her ear and Cass finds herself confused.
“I can train it out of you, if you don’t think it’s there -- but it’s there. It might seem like I’m trying to kill you though, which is why I’m hesitant. I don’t want you to think this is something I came up with just to hurt some random stranger,” Cassian adds, shrugging slightly. “But the prophecy never ever states that we work together due to magic. It was just stated we find each other and work together. You see, I can’t work on my own. I fall into chaos on my own, I’m….”
Before she can say anything else, the strange and unusual knick-knack shop owner just smiles. “You’re …destructive? Cause that’s me, too. I work better with people. Which I thought about, too. I think you need a friend, and I can be your friend.”
Cass feels as though she’s already waxed poetic enough, so she just gives a thumbs up, and says, “Basically, yeah,” before she dickishly puts on some shades indoors, and sighs.
Cass wants to tell Cee she’s glad she’s in this with her, she wants to tell her that she needs a partner. But doing so just seems like too much already, so she does something she saves for friends and loved ones – she smiles.

The 62nd Annual Grammy Awards took place this year under the shadow of major tumult at the Recording Academy. They also began just hours after news broke that NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his . daughter Gianna and seven others died in a helicopter crash near Los Angeles.
Despite the somber mood, the stars showed up for a night of performances, Grammy Moments and of course the distribution of the awards themselves. Among the many winners who received awards before the evening ceremony began were Lizzo, Rosalía, Willie Nelson and Tanya Tucker. Alicia Keys was set to reprise her role as sunny host, with performances on the docket from Ariana Grande, Rosalía, Demi Lovato and many more.
Going into the evening, Lizzo led with the most nominations (eight), while Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish followed with six apiece. All three of those artists contended for Best New Artist (though their respective newness varies), alongside five other artists, in the first year of an expanded category.
Below, see the winners of the 2020 Grammy Awards, updating live throughout the evening.

New top story from Time: See All the Winners of the 2020 Grammy Awards

I feel like conversations with Cass and Caesar are funny because and a bit sad in the beginning because Caesar will be throwing her whole heart out.
Meanwhile Cass is like DO NOT PASS GO for most questions that are about herself.
And one day Caesar learns Cass’s father’s from Russia and she’s like “So I hear you’re Russian???" and nothing else?? Like she doesn't even ask if why she has a non-russian accent if she's FROM russia, if that's the case.
And Cass is like “Yes, ‘russian’ to get out of this conversation…” before she can get anything out of her. And I feel like that's the bare bones of their dynamic at first LMFAOOOOOOO jkhhadkjad

drabble title: reassurance prompt: there’s nothing reassuring about what you just said. who: cassian barakzai pairing: cassian barakzai & caesar adjani project: magically inclined | original work in progress triggers: we're here for the (oc)cult stuff. well made-up stuff. notes: you know.......i was bound to make a magic universe at some point. and you know that shit was gonna be in space. and weirdly it has no link to the palms or shadow place. it's it own thing. mostly writing this to experiment with the characters since the ones in this universe are so new i don't even have a proper pinboard for it yet. oof. if there are errors i write at 1am,
Tumblr media
Cassian doesn’t necessarily feel like she’s there for the sake of being reassuring. In her mind, she’s there because she needs to serve as a protector and as a piece of a prophecy that eventually will be fulfilled. The fact that Caesar doesn’t take this seriously is mind-boggling to her. As far as she’s concerned, the only way the prophecy can be fulfilled is if they take it seriously and if they work together, but apparently, the idiot of a man doesn’t believe in the prophecy at all. He thinks what she’s telling him is all a lie and that she’s insane.
Something that, typically she would usually not bat an eye over or would probably laugh about. But since this is the end of the world, life or death matters, universe shattering, Cass does not find this funny or worth ignoring at all. In lots of ways, she finds it terrifying that he wants to pretend this is a game. That he isn’t of the chosen.
“There’s nothing reassuring about what you just said,” Caesar expresses to her after a while, and after she stares at him with a deadpan expression as she tries to understand how one can be so fiercely oblivious and naive to the truth. “It sounds like a dream, a fairytale, or a movie.”
“To be honest, I would’ve forgiven you if you would’ve just said nightmare,” Cass tells him with a light shrug and slight smirk, pulling down her shades as she rolls her eyes at him to make sure he sees. “But no, it’s all true. You’re magic, your parents were magic, grandparents, etcetera. And now, you’re needed to help me with something important. Something great.” Cass makes little sparks appear above her hands to prove a point, despite the fact that she's not entertainment for a party.
Caesar looks at her curiously. Swallows. Cass wonders if he knows she is so much cooler than he is. “It just sounds like a lot of responsibility…” he mumbles.
“Well, deal with it,” Cass tells him coolly, placing her hands down in her pockets before she gently grabs him by the wrist and has him follow her into the dark. She can feel him shake so she places her other hand over his and says calmly, “You’ll deal with worse. You’ll be fine. Nothing will harm you while I’m here. I swear it.” It’s said with such seriousness, such loyalty that she hopes he believes her, despite the fact that it’s foolish to make promises that huge. But the thing is. If she can’t keep him alive, everyone else dies. So, in a way, it’s a promise she intends to - and has to - keep.
