            Hi  there,  I  go  by  RHYS.  They  /  Them  pronouns.  I  am  an  artist,  and  i  struggle  with  anxiety  and  other  illnesses.  I  also  work  when  I  can.  So  i  tend  to  be  pretty  sporadic.  I  can  get  to  things  very  quickly,  or  very  slow.  Nothing  against  any  one  person.  I  just  write  when  I  feel  like  it.

I can do meet cutes and slice of life situation but...there will always be unsettling undertones.  I also write jade from several points in his life. Anywhere ranging from 17( in game age ) - 20( last year at the college ), and beyond that even. If I'm exploring his life post NRC.

  I  am  mutuals  only  in  regards  to  threads,  and  require  plotting  to  write  anything  at  length.  however,  I  do  accept  asks  from  anyone  and  everyone  that  wishes  to  send  them  in.  This  is  for  my  own  comfort.  So  do  not  get  impatient  with  me  or  push  me.  I  will  block  you  the  moment  you  do.  I  have  a  life  outside  of  rp,  and  I  need  that  to  be  respected.

asks and thread do not always stick. i love writing with people, i love getting asks, and i love threads. but sometimes im genuinely not sure how to reply to it right away. it isn't a lack of interest, i promise. if i'm following you, then i do want to interact and write. again, just be patient, rp is an outlet for me, and a hobby. i don't force myself to write if it just wont come to me.

on shipping and dynamics. so... i practice ship exclusivity, when it comes to certain dynamics. i do not enjoy recycling, or reusing ideas with other people. and in order to ship with my muse romantically-- i do ask this be mutual. if you do not enjoy that, then it's fine. no hard feelings, i can respect that. when i am comfortable enough to plot these things out, i really try to put out 100% effort. and it doesn't feel very good to see our ideas and dynamic done the same with someone else. again, i do not expect everyone to operate like i do. if you don't want exclusivity in this way, then say so. we can do something different, and work that out. ( to be clear this only really applies to romantic or unique dynamics. not platonic or familial. )

digital! traditional is nice in small doses. i think im done with normal pencils i prefer either painting or like. charcoal as i recently discovered

sketching <3 lineart is to me what coloring is to normal people. it's relaxing sometimes but i need 1 million stabilzer. you already know how i feel about coloring

this is the iconic sibling moment i was talking about. its roughly a year old now, and looks pretty stiff, but it was like. kinda insanely good for my skill at the time. pretty big point in my art history

finally see what it means to be living (captain marvel, carol/maria, i really hit the zeitgeist with this one i think i was something like the fifth fic in the ship tag)

do whatever you think (the magnus archives, this series is actually #2-7, then #8 #9 and #11 for me so i’m going to cheat a bit)

standing in a world of my own (daredevil, matt/foggy/karen, another zeitgeist hit! really miss writing for daredevil actually... it’s a perennial fave)

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

i don’t really Do angsty endings... possibly a blanket of stars just because i ended it on something of a cliffhanger and then completely zoned out of rnm for long enough that i forgot where i was going with it. there was definitely the intention of fixing things but then i just... did not do that. and now the show is on s3 and i’m over a season behind! life comes at you fast

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

where the long shadows grow, because it reunited kirk prime and spock prime and they DESERVE TO BE HAPPYYYY. i’m a complete sucker for presumed dead/back from the dead stories, actually, so on a similar theme i have two (TWO) daredevil fics which follow the trope, one about ray coming back post-s2 (might never be normal again) and one about foggy and matt reuniting post-endgame (in the corner, taking up space). this is the only time i will ever acknowledge endgame ever again

7. Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve written?

i do write crossovers! in fact i am often roundly mocked by my friends for the increasingly esoteric nature of my crossovers. way back in secondary i wrote a twilight/labyrinth crossover where angela was sarah and jareth’s daughter  because i had a massive crush on a girl who liked both twilight and labyrinth. however, since that has been comprehensively scrubbed from the internet, i think my craziest crossover is probably part three of ‘traced upon the skies’, already an esoteric crossover of rivers of london and hot fuzz, when i added in a crossover with the horror movie ‘the ritual’ just because i wanted rafe spall’s character to be happy 

8. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

EXTREMELY rarely and only with extreme embarrassment. i will not be any more specific than that

9. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

i used to really struggle with doing this, to the point that i had over 300 comments just. lingering in my inbox unanswered. so i decided to give those up and just commit to answering them from then on, which has been working fairly well for about a year and a half now. i love getting comments but i get overwhelmed really easily and struggle with replying in a way which feels meaningful without getting in my head about it! 

10. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

yes lmao it was for a harry potter fic on ff.net where harry got sorted into hufflepuff instead of gryffindor. it wasn’t a very good fic but i think the fact it was clearly written by an 11 year old should have scared off at least some of the less flattering comments.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

i don’t... think so? i don’t know how i’d find out to be honest, my vanity googling is rarely very effective

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

yes! as bronze may be much beautified (skyfall, mallory/bond) got translated into chinese, i was extremely pleased. i think it’s mandarin but the ao3 page for the translation doesn’t say and my mandarin is.................. extremely poor

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

also yes! me and jess little-smartass have written a lot together, although only our star trek/les mis series has been published, more’s the pity. we spent a lot of les mis fandom time workshopping aus and we were always extremely correct about all of it, imo

14. What’s your all time favourite ship to write for?

oh god. i think probably kirk/spock, although there’s some recency bias to that since i reread space manhattans recently and was reminded of my love for them. i really like writing jon/martin but i’ve mostly done that from outsider pov which is a bit different to writing shipfic, i think. joe/nicky from tog was also something i really liked writing but i struggle with plotting longer fic with them

15. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

i recently went through my abandoned fic folder so i actually have a few options for this. the obvious choice would be ‘any of the hockey ones’ but i did delete most of those just for my sanity. more recently i started writing a vaguely smutty pre-the thing mac/fuchs fic for alex @milkdrinker5000 which i really WANT to finish but am struggling with. most obscure answer (even beyond the thing) and most likely to remain unfinished is the insanely in depth post-tog booker/copley fic i had planned out back in about october. i wrote a good 6-7k of that one and then i realised it was going to be, like, difficult, and decided if i was going to put that much work into something it may as well be the novel im meant to be writing

16. What are your writing strengths?

once a friend told me i had an excellent facility for dialogue and ive thought about it every time i write ever since. i love writing dialogue and i think i’m good at knowing what sounds ic and what is right out. 

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

one of the things i struggled with for a really long time, and honestly still have trouble with, is depicting action in words. once i wrote a hockey fic which featured multiple hockey games and i spent probably four times as much effort editing those to make sense and be interesting that i’ve ever done on a talkier scene.

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

i’ve done it but only when i knew more or less what i was talking about - i did italian at school so i felt confident using it for nicky in something particular and real. i try not to italicise when i drop in words from other languages, which is what i usually do when i’m using a language i haven’t studied in depth (for example, joe’s use of arabic in some of my fic), and to only use words which i’ve heard used by native speakers in that context. i think if you don’t feel confident using another language, generally speaking, you shouldn’t do it. and for god’s sake don’t use google translate for a full sentence

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

harry potter on the newsround chatboards. ariana lovegood-longbottom my sweet child

20. What’s your favourite fic you’ve written?

this used to be an easy question because hands down the fic i was proudest of on posting it was i’ll be seeing you. i spent a year and a half on research and writing! but these days i do cringe a little at my hockey fic, and i think i’m prouder of some of my shorter works. let’s do a curveball and say layer on layer, down on down, which is my favourite of my rnm fics and the one i like most from a narrative voice perspective. getting michael right was stressful and i’m still proud i got it down for a TIME LOOP FIC, my absolute favourite trope

I have a question, what is a proper word to use in replacement of "noona kink" as a non-Korean it kinda makes me feel weird to be referred to that, but idk how else to explain it. I don't want to be put in the same group as ped*s, but I like the power dynamic of a few year age difference(IM NOT A P*EDO IM ONLY 4 YEARS OLDER) plz help

Oof... I am soooo not the person to be answering this question. I am not Korean and my Korean language ability is akin to that of a toddler. But in an effort to encourage rather than shame genuinely curious discourse, I’ll attempt to unpack some of the things in this ask. 

1. There is no English language equivalent of the words oppa/noona/hyung/unnie. They denote closeness and are used between siblings, close friends, and boyfriends and girlfriends, so sometimes they have a platonic connotation and sometimes a sexual one. (Sidenote: I know some people will argue that it only has a platonic connotation and never a sexual one. Please weigh in on this if you are actually Korean. I don’t know for sure. But I will tell you a story. I once met a 46-year Korean man in an online language exchange who kept wanting me to call him oppa. I asked a Korean woman who is a friend of mine about it and she told me that was super creepy and weird. A few days later the dude starts telling me he loves me and how he wants to leave his wife and come to America to be with me. So at least for that Korean man, I think oppa had a sexual connotation.)

2. Talking about one of the boys having an “oppa kink” or “noona kink” is very different than saying you as a non-Korean have a “noona kink”. Saying something like “Yoongi has a oppa kink” would imply that Yoongi gets some sexual excitement from being addressed with a term in his own language that connotes respect and a sort of “older protective male” vibe. While saying something like that is a little weird because it is assuming the sexual preferences of a real person, I don’t think it is any weirder than saying something like “Yoongi is a bottom or Yoongi is a dom”. It’s weird, but I don’t think it fetishizes Korean culture because Yoongi himself is Korean and he might enjoy women of any ethnicity using that term with him. (BUT I don’t know for sure! I would be interested in opinions from Koreans. Koreans seem to disagree about this too though.)

3. HOWEVER, if you as a non-Korean say something like “I have a noona kink” that quickly becomes fetishizing. Because noona is not a word that exists in your language, so you’re getting off on the idea of a specifically Korean term that only Koreans would use. I think maybe you could say something like “I would love for Jungkook to call me noona” because Jungkook is a specific person who you might be attracted to because he is Jungkook and not just because he is Korean and “noona” would be the appropriate term for him to use with you, since he is Korean. But to say “I have a noona kink” implies that you would get off to any man (Korean or not) calling you “noona” which is either fetishizing the Korean term if you’re using it between two non-Koreans, or is fetishizing Korean men if you’re getting off on the idea of your partner being any Korean man just because he is Korean. So I definitely would not say “I have a noona kink” as a non-Korean. This is the main reason I stopped using noona in my reader insert stories. 

4. Pedophilia is a term that specifically means a sexual attraction to prepubescent children. I don’t know why the internet decided that attraction to 16 or 17 year olds or to anyone younger than you even if they are over 18 can be called pedophilia because it isn’t. Sexual activity with minors as an adult is morally abhorrent and wrong because of the power dynamics involved. But it is only pedophilia if the minors are children, not teenagers. And it definitely doesn’t apply when talking about a 25 year old crushing on a 20 year old. That’s not pedophilia. You are all adults. It bothers me when people use that term willy-nilly because it minimizes the trauma than can be done to children by predators by conflating it with other things that are less traumatic. 

5. It’s fine to have preferences but any preference becomes fetishistic when you only want that one thing to the exclusion of everything else. It’s fine to say you find younger men attractive and it’s fine to enjoy sexual power dynamics. It becomes fetishistic when you only date younger men because you need that power dynamic in order to get off. 

TLDR: Say you are attracted to younger men. Don’t use the phrase “noona kink”.

Hey. I'm a cis-gay here wanting to be more educated on trans stuff so I dont offend or look like a dummy when talking about stuff. Can you explain what makes trap a slur? Because I've always heard it as one thing and even though I've never called someone and wouldn't unironically use the term trap in any context, I still dont quite understand what makes it a slur and was hoping a trans person could educate my dumbass on the topic please. basically the word “trap” in this context refers to a man who dresses up as a woman in order to lure in heterosexual men. “it’s a trap” and all that. which, if the internet existed in a vacuum, would be fine, but it doesnt so its not.

trans women, especially trans women of color and trans women who are sex workers, are murdered at an alarming rate compared to the general population. ill use some specific examples for this.

nireah johnson, a 17 year old black trans girl, was murdered in 2003 along with her friend by a cis man after the cis man, who had previously felt attracted to nireah, found out that she was transgender.

janice roberts, a 44 year old trans woman, was murdered in 2003 by serial killer william devin howell. he tried to engage in sex with her and strangled her to death when he realized she was transgender.

shelby tracy tom, a 40 year old canadian trans woman, was working as a sex worker in vancouver in 2003 when she was strangled to death after a cis male client realized she was transgender. she was post-bottom surgery, but she apparently had visible scars. the murderer was cleared of hate crime charges even though he murdered her after realizing she was transgender because he acted out of “panic” and did not originally target her because she was trans.

Dee Dee Pierson, a black transgender woman, accepted money in exchange for sex in 2011 and was murdered after the cis man who paid her realized she was transgender.

do you recognize a theme here?

trans women are viewed by cishet men (not all cishet men dont get on my ass) as men in dresses. when a cishet man finds himself attracted to a woman who turns out to be transgender, it is a personal attack on his masculinity and heterosexuality, so he is moved to violence and it is at the trans woman’s expense.

my first exposure to the word trap was on 4chan’s /b/ board when i was edgy and 13 and until i branched out with what sites i went on i genuinely thought trap was synonymous with trans woman because that was how it was used on there. exclusively.

so you don’t have to, i just went through the “trap” tag. out of 20 posts that were pictures/nudes of real people. out of the 20, 2 of the posts were posted by trans women calling themselves traps. 6 were pictures of trans women posted on blogs including one blog dedicated to “exposing sissies” that tagged the pictures with both trap and trans girl related tags, so to whoever runs that blog the words are obviously synonymous. 3 were unclear, although i lean hard towards trans woman for one of them. 8 were pictures posted by people who very clearly called themselves crossdressers or “sissies” with two or three of the posts being from the same account. interspersed with these posts was all sorts of hentai of very feminine women with large breasts and penises and the very occasional male character in feminine clothing.

“but leon then are all crossdressers bad?” no. playing with gender expression can be fun, freeing, and even arousing to some people. the concept behind the usage of the word “trap” specifically directly contributes to an environment that allows and encourages trans women to be beaten or killed because of fragile cishet masculinity. if trans women were non negotiably viewed as “real” women, and not crossdressing men or men out to trick cis men into being gay, then this would be an okay thing. but we dont live in that perfect world.

I do agree with you to an extent, and I'll touch on that, but in the case of Doogie, I wasn't really using the example of her being a teenager as a reason not to watch it, I was more just kinda saying it made me specifically feel :/ but I recognize that's because the show isn't made for me.

Spoilers for the first episode ahead, but ofc 27 year old me is going to watch this kid go through the pain and trauma of losing a patient and wonder how her mother, who is also a doctor herself so she knows firsthand what that's like, can let her daughter do this. And, in the case of you and I, it would be more palatable if we were watching an 18+ college student doing a residency or getting their medical degree etc, but I can tell the show was made for the preteen/teenage demographic, so it's definitely going to be much more interesting for them to watch someone their own age (or close to it) juggle being a full-time doctor while also dealing with stuff they're dealing with, like getting your license, trying to get more freedom from your parents, getting your first steady boyfriend/girlfriend/significant other, etc etc than if it was a college student.

(like I know sometimes when I bring up HD, I talk about how it sucked that Ray hired someone so young to be a sidekick and threw him into that world, but I wouldn't really ever use that as an example not to watch it, because I get that it's a kids show, so ofc they're going to have the 13-year-old be the sidekick. the whole point is to have the kids see themselves in him)

The times that I really agree with you, are when we're talking about shows that are made for an older audience, like the gossip girl reboot or pretty much any CW show, Euphoria, and so on. Like, gossip girl would be soooo much more palatable for me if I was watching college kids deal with this anonymous entity rather than watching these high schoolers deal with it (especially given the premise but i won't get into it cause spoilers) (and ESPECIALLY when it comes to the graphic s*x scenes. Like, to be real that shit makes me uncomfortable anyway, but watching these 20+ actors doing graphic shit knowing the characters are supposed to be 16-17 or even younger, it's just,,,, no thanks. Also, obligatory child-of-a-mental-health-care-professional statement: anti-social means against society, ie doing actions deliberately intended to hurt society. Asocial means not interested in society which is what most people mean (not very interested in people, but not inherently doing things against them).

That out of the way:

If you are totally inexperienced and have no knowledge of the functions I strongly recommend reading the FAQ which is intended to have some background. Your girlfriend is also welcome to do so.

The things to look into: If she does data analysis for decisions but then trusts what feels right, 1. why does she do the data analysis in the first place if she won’t use it and 2. is it that she gets a ‘right’ feel from that process of analysis?

Make sure you’re accurately considering introversion and what it means (talking to people and being introverted are not exclusive at all; basically what I’m dancing around here is that maybe 90% of the time when 17 year olds say I hate people they hate like 2 people or the concept of popularity or something but are actually pretty chill with people, if introverted)

Finally, why is she considering the types she considers? They’re also all pretty skewed towards intuition and I didn’t see much here that would reveal intuition vs sensing.
