âBe forgiven.â
(If there are grammar errors or if itâs scattered, forgive me Iâm very tired as I write this xD)
After struggling with my exhaustion, I got out of bed for what I knew was going to be a long morning. After putting my feet on the floor, I immediately got a text from my friend/coworker at the parish saying that she needed me downstairs ASAP to help her set up for the parent-student retreat we were putting on. I showered faster than I ever have, brushed my teeth, and threw on the closest items of clothing I could find.
I ran downstairs and was immediately tasked with helping heat up the food for the day. After I had done that I ran to the church, waited for the announcements and final blessing, and went into ministry-mode.
To save you all from a boring and detailed of the events that transpired within 5 hours, I will say this: I was giving a talk, babysitting, rocking a baby to sleep, setting up food, playing UNO, catching my dog in my arms and protecting the smol children, setting up for a friendâs picnic, giving life advice to one of my teens, brainstorming and networking with a priest-friend, and answering a few ministry calls all within just a one hour period (literally, most of this overlapped).
Exhaustion is an understatement. I called my parents and asked if they could drive me over to my friendâs picnic so that I could get a break. I ran out as soon as my dad got there. I checked my pockets just to confirm that I had my phone and wallet. Right pocket, wallet and keys. Check. *switch baby to other arm* Left pocket, phone and rosary. Check. *switch baby back to original arm* What was I missing?
I heard the baby in my left arm giggle.
"SWEET FANCY MOSES.â
I HAD ALMOST LEFT WITH THE BABY.
After returning the smol nerd to their sibling, I got in the car and headed out to the picnic. It was amazing to see all of my friends and to hang out, but I was still  fidgety and tired. After basically becoming an empty shell for a bit, a friend noted that the shrine and chapel were open.
Of course! The picnic was on the grounds of this monastery that I have heard of so much yet have never had the opportunity to visit!
Either way, they had my attention. She took me to the shrine and showed me everything. There were so many beautiful statues, icons, and paintings. The whole hall smelled of incense and roses. The first thing I noticed was an image of Saint John Paul II (my homeboy). I made my way there and just admired the images of him being held by Mary and an icon of the Divine Mercy that was right next to it. My friend had to go, so she showed me the chapel and then left. I was blown away by the beautiful and yet so simple chapel.Â
As I gazed at the gorgeous Tabernacle, I suddenly felt this overwhelming desire to go to confession. I hadnât been to confession in a while, so I immediately felt the urge to go. As I wandered to the front, I saw a priest blessing a man. When the man left, the priest had smiled at me.
âFather, if it isnât an annoyance, could I ask for a confession.â
âA priest is always there for Godâs people, son.â
I shouldâve known then that the confession to follow would be a rollercoaster of grace.
Oddly enough, we did not sit, but stood the entire time. After âsigning in,â I went through my sins and waited for the priest to respond. After responding in a very profound way, he told me to look at the cross.
I had just realized that we were standing in front of a crucifix - one with Jesus as the High Priest on it. He noted how his ministry allows for miracles to occur everyday - two of which are very overlooked constantly: the bread and wine becoming Christâs Body and Blood and the forgiveness of sins. It was then that I heard an interesting comment - one of gratitude. In confession of all places.
âThank you for honoring the priesthood by asking me for confession.â
I couldnât do anything but smile. I was actually bringing both this priest and Christ Himself joy by repenting and turning back to Him.
âBe forgiven, my son. He has made you new.â
One of my favorite phrases went from ink on paper to a beautiful reality which pierced my heart.
He then pointed out that I had not confessed one sin.
Haha yeah right dude, I said it all. Thereâs no way-
âThe sin of wasting time.â
Well, sh- no wait Iâm in confession.
In what was almost a scene taken from a saint movie, the priest noted how he can tell how the root of most of my sins is wasting time. He went on to explain that if I had actually used my time for what I intended it for, I would be a canonized saint.
Well, golly gee.
He even noted how it is a sin to give up my sleep time for silly things.
âIf you do not rest, you will not be able to give of yourself fully to God, let alone any other people.â
He was right. I didnât need to enter the depths of my soul to know that.
The rest of the confession went amazing. He was speaking straight to my heart. I could truly feel that this priest was standing In Persona Christi. At the end, he gave me my penance and absolution. Then he gave me a hug and we conversed for a bit. My penance was to spend 5 minutes of my life in front of the Blessed Sacrament and offer that time in reparation for all of the time I had wasted before. I walked out of the room with this huge smile on my face. I felt so much joy.
I wandered into chapel to do my penance and I gave God my time. It felt like an eternity (and not in a bad way!). I was so ravished by our Lord that all I could do was kneel and pray. I really did not want to leave. It was almost like I was experiencing the âdivine ecstasyâ that the saints have spoken of.
I donât know why God gave me this blessing today, but Iâm starting to get what Heâs trying to tell me:
âRest my son, you are home. You are forgiven. All is well - I make all things new. Yes, even you. Come into my dwelling place, you have a seat at the table.â
I have not stopped smiling since then. May this joy draw others to You, my Lord and my God.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition (Switch, 2019) Richie: I LIEK THE DUBBLE ONES! The Last of Us x2 Divinity: Original Sin II x2 Play count: 16 off that list, that's also eight twentyfifths, which is roughly how much of my massive dick your mom can take. Cunzy: Now, we all know the issues with a crowd sourced list. It's dumb. It's like putting together a list of best fruit, or favourite socks. However, every now and then it's useful to pull the wang out to measure it against the communities' wang and see just how weird and misshapen our is (we share genital appendages) by comparison. Play count: 9! What an alternative darling I am! Richie: I mean they are great, and you know they will be, but you have to draw the line somewhere, So you have to choose and say, "Nah I wont play this", better the time sink you know, right? And you choose your reasons, you skim an article, and find the thing that is slightly wrong and then activate your inner drama queen to say "OMG that is not a game I want to play I cant believe they dont have Fred Durst doing the voice of the main character" or something equally nuts. And there is plenty of them on that list that I simply refuse to play for these reasons. And I guess that's fine? Time is finite, I cant go back ten years and play all of the PS3 games I never played? Can I? Cunzy: GUILTY CONFESSIONS, A.K.A those games you know are great but just never got around to: Mario Odyssey, LoZ (the whole franchise), Red Dead (series), Mass Effect (series), Persona (series), Divinity (series), Souls (series)... where do I hand my gamer card back? Richie: Also Overwatch... Do people actually play it, or is that there just because people fiddle with their genitalia to fund cosplay camgirls? Cunzy: Yes, watch me throat this widowmaker dildo on my stream now. Richie: So do we disagree with this list? Well, to be fucking honest I'm not going to research it myself, I'm not sure I have played much more than 50 games this year, as far as i can recall, I played a lot of Diablo 3 and Fallout/Skyrim... but yeah I'm sure the above is good... Actually fuck that, Games of the decade for me are... Every iteration of pokemon that came out in the last 10 years, X/Y, Sun/Moon, Black/White, Sword/Shield, Flaps/Scrotum. Skyrim SNOW VIKING DRAGON SHOUTING Animal Crossing, Shake the tree for Nook. Lego Everything, play, collect, repeat Hyperdimensions Neptunia. Ultra Japanese anthropomorphised consoles as Anime girls. Vert is best Waifu. Fallouts So many plus expansions, Chandler as a bad guy is special. Diablo 3, Clicky loot loot WoW Classic, because... FFXIII-2, Timetravel-bocolina Tomodatchi Life, Make your friends on the DS into miis, interact with them, cry alone at night Smash Bros. Repeatedly main Peach till she becomes top tier, yaay Jackbox games, All Gems, probably the best multiplayer gaming actually this decade. Doki Doki Literature Club, MO-NI-KA Batmanzes, grapple glide Southparkgames, play the stories you have watched and add a weak RPG element. Dragon Ages-s, Way better than mass effect Every Naruto game. Like lego, but with anime ninjas Barrel Scrape: the game, where you frantically look at your steam collection for the games you have most played, and check the dates of your 360 games to see if they fall into this category I played 18 games it seems? Cunzy: *gasps for air*, wipes synthetic jizz from Lollipop Chainsaw skirt. Ten years is a long time. Here's my top 18 games of the decade. Silent Hill Shattered Memories 2010 Silent Hill without the combat and all the more psychologically chilling because of it. Great setting, theme and story. One I regularly come back to and still brick myself. Endless Ocean 2 2010 Expanding on the first one in every way, shame there aren't more nature lovin' games in this ilk. Monster Hunter Tri 2010 The only one in the series to have kept my attention despite it being the 'wrong one' according to many in the MH community. Lost Planet 2 2010 Probably one of the games with the most comprehensive couch co-op mode and ridiculous bosses to team up against. Absolutely bonkers story, giant monsters and jetpacks. What more do you need? Dead Rising 2 2010 I wasn't too bothered with DR3 and DR4 despite absolutely loving the first game. They seem to have crossed the line between goofy but po-faced and just silly apocalypse zombie killing. DR2 arguably gives you a playground more memorable than Willamette and stays on the 'serious' side. Dead Space 2 2011 One of my favourite gaming franchises I think, excellently built world that is complemented by the tie in anime, comics and spin-off games.  Resident Evil Revelations 2012 It was a good decade for Resident Evil with almost every game seeing multiple ports, re-releases and remasters. It's a close call between Resident Evil 2 and Revelations on the Nintendo 3DS for my favourite of the decade but this one really got it's biohazardous talons-with-eyes into us especially raid mode. Revelations 2 is fantastic co-op but the raid mode side of things isn't as fluid as the original Revelations. Criminally, aside from a brief VR foray into Resident Evil 7, we errr didn't play it. The Last Story 2012 Oh, I fell in love with this game and despite the small geography of Lazulis City it felt like a living city with many surprises tucked away. Great soundtrack to boot. Fire Emblem Awakening 2013 Another series that had a rock solid decade starting with Awakening then the rest of the 3DS trilogy, an excellent Warriors game and even Heroes wasn't too bad. Although Fire Emblem Three Houses is the superior game, it's the cast and the support system pioneered by Awakening that has this in my top 18. Tomb Raider 2013 Sometimes the context in which you play a game is as important as the game itself. A weekend in 2013 with fellow Tomb Raider fans blasting through this excellent and long awaited reboot is fondly remembered. Last of Us 2013 It's hard to put a finger on just one thing that makes this game phenomenal but there's not been much like it since. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2013 There were some great LEGO games this decade from opposites LEGO Worlds and LEGO Dimensions to movie tie-ins and a strong series of games based on the Marvel and DC comics. The Marvel trilogy in particular was outstanding. Everyone's Gone to the Rapture 2015 With age, the more energetic games can leave me wheezing with exhaustion just thinking about playing them and EGttR is a perfect respite from the shootbang games. Honestly, I'd be keen to play more games just like this. The English countryside setting in particular made it extra special. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2017 Honestly, who actually puts Mario Kart on their top games list? Well thinking about it and looking at play records it's probably the perfect couch multiplayer game but with a real challenging depth to those looking to break records and get a hold of those elusive gold kart components. Splatoon 2 2017 Cheating slightly here by including Splatoon 2 and the Octo Expansion as one entry. I'm really not a huge fan of the central competitive gameplay of Splatoon, although I've put in the hours, but the single player side of things are a worthy first person puzzler(?) in their own right. Into the Breach 2018 When the options paralysis sets in, which is often, I just spin up Into the Breach. Three hours and a few runs later I'll question why I don't play this game even more often. Hundreds of hours in and still challenges to do, runs to try. Super Smash Brothers Ultimate 2018 Part game, part nerdy love letter to gaming, part video game museum. Pokemon Sword and Shield 2019 Okay as Richie pointed above any of the pokemon mainline series could have filled this slot but the last one makes most sense. Twas also a good decade for the spinoffs. I enjoyed Pokemon Conquest a huge deal, put an embarrassing amount of time into Quest as well as Picross, Rumble, Duel, Go and mystery dungeons. And there we have it, lists, we'll be back at some point in the future with more lists, perhaps with a list spanning the last 2 decades, to present you with our Game of the Century (spoilers, it's SSX Tricky). Also if anyone has a word to describe my above rant about the act of proactively dismissing something despite knowing it will be good to avoid committing to the time sink, please let me know. We live in a time of labels, there must be a word for this! Love and where do you even start with persona! Richie + Cunzy X

DualShockersâ Favorite Games of 2019 â Rachaelâs Top 10
December 31, 2019 4:00 PM EST
There were plenty of games of 2019 that I enjoyed immensely, but if I had to pick just 10, here were my favorites of the year.
As 2019 comes to a close, DualShockers and our staff are reflecting on this yearâs batch of games and what were their personal highlights within the last year. Unlike the official Game of the Year 2019 awards for DualShockers, there are little-to-no-rules on our individual Top 10 posts. For instance, any game â not just 2019 releases â can be considered.
Here we are again at the end of another great gaming year. Even though we didnât see as many huge titles like Red Dead Redemption 2, Marvelâs Spider-Man, or God of War as seen in 2018, my year has been packed full of some amazing titles regardless. Thankfully, I didnât have to solely rely on AAA games to have a great gaming experience, as this year we saw many fantastic indies that included Untitled Goose Game, Outer Wilds, Lost Ember, My Friend Pedro, to name a few. This only goes to prove how far independent studios have come along, and how they have firmly made their mark within the gaming industry.
As a gamer, Iâm very open to what I will play â which is probably a good thing in this business. As youâll tell from my diverse list, Iâm not afraid to jump into whatever piques my interest. That may be from the adorable and cutesy, to the dark and twisted underbelly of the video games universe. As much as I love experiencing all areas of gaming, thereâs one factor that always calls me home, and thatâs immersive storytelling. I donât think thereâs a feeling in the world like sitting back and getting completely lost within a world interwoven in an amazingly captivating narrative. Since the start of time, humans have used storytelling as a way to connect to others, to bring people closer together and how the world is right now, there couldnât be a more apt time to continue this tradition in the games we play.
As we slide into 2020, Iâm excited to uncover whatâs in store for me â especially with my most anticipated game mere months away, The Last of Us Part II. But until then, allow me to share with you what has been my Top 10 games of 2019. Let me tell you, it wasnât easy to narrow it down to just 10!
10. Sayonara Wild Hearts
Sayonara Wild Hearts is a beautifully crafted piece of kit. It oozes bags of appeal and a refreshing, upbeat soundtrack that accompanied the gameâs style perfectly. Other than its eye-popping visuals, the underlying story of heartbreak made this short, heart-pumping title really stand out.
I played it all in one go from start to finish and since then, Iâve been recommending gamers to give this unique and worthwhile title a try. On a side note: Queen Latifahâs voice is the epitome of ASMR.
Check out DualShockersâ review for Sayonara Wild Hearts.
9. Divinity: Original Sin II
Unfortunately, I didnât get the chance to play this game when it first released back in 2017 but when I saw that it was releasing on the Nintendo Switch, I knew that I had to play it. Divinity: Original Sin II is acclaimed to be one of the best western-style RPGs ever made, with stellar writing, voice acting, and brilliantly crafted tactical combat, and I couldnât agree more.
The Switchâs small screen in handheld mode is perfect to get up close and personal with the bucket loads of action and endless, compelling dialogue. Divinity: Original Sin IIâs emotion-wrought fantasy world really does make it one of the finest RPG games of recent years.
Check out DualShockersâ review forDivinity: Original Sin II on Nintendo Switch.
8. Mosaic
Over the past few years, Iâve seen a rise in talking about mental health in video games. I love that we are now more open and free to discuss these issues that affect so many of us, and that developers are willing to take this on and adapt it to their games.
Mosaic offers a painstakingly realistic look under the heavy covers of depression and burnout in the workplace. I applaud that Krillbite Studio made no apologizes as they dove head-on in tackling these difficult subjects in Mosaic. Its cruelly dark and, at times, hard to play because of how authentic the main character plays out his troubles. But this is, in my opinion, when you know youâve made a great game; when the player feels what youâre portraying.
Check out DualShockersâ review for Mosaic (by me!).
7. Planet Zoo
When it comes to management sims, I tend to get a little overwhelmed with how much you have to do. You almost have to divide yourself into a million pieces to just stay afloat, but thankfully Planet Zoo offered much more manageable gameplay that I thoroughly enjoyed.
With its plentiful tutorials and smart UI, I spent hours taking care of all the zooâs creatures, and who doesnât want to care for a baby lion cub? Frontier Developments also tackled important educational and conservation topics throughout, which gave me bags of insight into each species. If youâre looking for a management sim that wonât take hours just to know what youâre supposed to be doing or kill every brain cell due to an overload of tasks, Planet Zoo may be the one for you.
Check out DualShockersâ review for Planet Zoo by me, again.
6. My Friend Pedro
My Friend Pedro made me feel like I was actually really good at games. It made me feel like Neo from The Matrix with its slow-motion gunplay and super crazy stunts that offered one hell of an adrenaline-filled ride.
From barrel riding to swinging off chains to achieve the ultimate stunt-shot, My Friend Pedro provided me hours of entertainment. I was a bad-ass ninja on a skateboard with a talking banana; whatâs not to love?

5. Life is Strange 2
This tale of brotherly love between Sean and Daniel Diaz begins as they try and flee America to start a new life in Mexico, and it hooked me from the get-go. Sure, it was a little slow in the beginning but it soon picked up steam and turned into a goldmine of storytelling.
What I appreciated most about Life is Strange 2 is how deeply it resonated with me in how well it addressed a lot of the current political and social issues we see in America today. Dontnod Entertainment obviously went to great lengths to make the player feel and care about what happened to these brothers, and for that, they have my respect. Iâm really looking forward to knowing more about their next game, Tell Me Why â my guess is that it will be another emotionally hard-hitting adventure, and Iâm totally here for that.

4. Concrete Genie
What can I say about this wholesome and charming game? I feel like it would be better to take my heart out and let it tell you, because thatâs where Iâve stored everything that has touched me from this beautiful title. Concrete Genie throws you into the shoes of Ash, a young sensitive boy you loves to paint. When his town gets consumed by a dark, negative force coupled with some bullies set to make his life harder, Ash goes on an adventure where he meets the most adorable genies and together, they right so many wrongs.
Just before playing this game, I was going through a rough patch in life, so jumping into this adorably endearing title made that period much more bearable â I honestly couldnât stop smiling throughout my entire time playing it. If youâre looking for something that will lift your spirits throughout these winter months, consider Concrete Genie. I dare you not to fall in love with Luna.
3. Luigiâs Mansion 3
I sometimes tend to lean towards games that are pretty dark and sinister, but as you can start to tell from this list â Iâm trying to change that. In freshening up my game playing habits more, I found myself wanting to give Luigiâs Mansion 3 on the Nintendo Switch a shot and boy, am I thankful that I gave this game a chance.
Thereâs so much to love in the third installment of the adventure series that lets Marioâs chicken-livered twin Luigi take control. The graphics in Luigiâs Mansion 3 are a kaleidoscope of beauty that pops straight from the beginning, and in my opinion, the best graphics currently on the Nintendo Switch. Coupled with impressive animation, fun levels, and acute attention to detail, this game was an absolute pleasure to play. I honestly have never had so much fun hoovering in all my life â just ask Chrissy Teigen.

2. A Plague Tale: Innocence
In case you didnât know this about me, I love games where I must fight to stay alive, so here I am again getting sucked into a world where I have to go head-to-head with forces that wants me dead â sounds charming doesnât it? This time Iâm running from rats in this deeply somber tale of the evil that scurries in the dark, and itâs not just the rats, FYI.
What I loved most about A Plague Tale is the narrative between the two siblings, Amicia and Hugo de Rune, who are thrown into a dangerous world where all they have are each other to rely on. Amicia, who constantly has to reassure her little brother Hugo, and Hugo constantly asking a barrage of questions is so life-like that you almost forget youâre playing a video game due to how well Asobo Studio cultivated the relationship between them both. A Plague Tale: Innocence will propel you into a broken and terrifying world, but also remind you that beneath the cruelty of its environment, a deeply set unconditional love story between a brother and sister waits to be uncovered.

1. Days Gone
From its very first reveal at Sonyâs E3 2016 panel, Days Gone had me hook, line and sinker. As Iâve already stated, thereâs something immediately appealing to me about apocalyptic survival games, (hello, The Last of Us). Whether itâs a metaphor from my own internal struggles, Iâm not sure, but what I do know is that trying to stay alive in a world that wants to swallow you whole captivates me on a whole other level.
Days Gone has a meaningful and varied narrative with just the right amount of pain, hope, and unexpected surprises to keep you glued to your seat the entire ride. Bend Studio crafted something personal and unique to them where they invited players to enter this world with an open heart and a little patience, where only then would your gaming experience really pay off in this stellar title.
The story is rich and meaty with a wide array of diverse characters you meet on your journey around Oregonâs beautiful landscapes, with countless areas you can interact with and explore. Iâve even found myself mindlessly riding my drifter bike for hours from one end of the map to the other, merely to soak in the scenery â the lakes, mountains, and forests are breathtakingly beautiful that Iâve already filled up a lot of space on my PS4 with the games built-in photo mode. Hats off to Bend Studio on this epic adventure; I canât wait to experience whatâs next from the studio.

Before you leave, Iâd like to share some Honorable Mentions that didnât quite make my top 10:
Untitled Goose Game â What a cute little asshole.
Disco Elysium â I havenât yet finished this game but so far, Iâm finding it really enjoyable with a cracking narrative.
Hearthstone â I finally dove into this online digital collectible card game at the start of 2019 and in my opinion, itâs the best card game out there.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer: this is where I go to release some pent up frustration. Thereâs nothing quite like finding unique ways to kill strangers online.
Death Stranding â Iâm still peeing and pooping my way around this strange world. It may or may not fall into my Top 10 in 2020, but as of right now, itâs unsettling and addictive for reasons that are beyond my comprehension at present.
