apparently, the painter i'm doing a presentation on tomorrow really loved the sky and clouds. like really, really. the man studied them with scientific precision. literally said that the skies govern everything in nature and that they're "the landscape's chief organ of sentiment". he spent months just looking up to make sure he would get them right in his paintings. john constable was unknowingly serving the vast the whole time
