technically mcshep bc i've shipped them for. forever pretty much lmao but i consider phan (daniel howell and phil lester) my first otp bc they were the first ship i actually started joining fandom stuff for (but i don't consider them an otp anymore bc i don't like shipping real humans anymore)

R - Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?

i already answered this (it's rodney and elizabeth) but my second favourite platonic relationship is ar1 and i always want an excuse to talk about them so im going to take this one. i love how close they all are, i love how well they know each other and how they all have their own little ways of handling each other. i love how loyal they are to each other and how much they love each other and every single Team Banter Scene lives rent free in my head (the trolley problem is literally the funniest thing ever i love it)

1. A selection of movies I rewatched so many times I wore out the VHS tapes. The Terminator 1984 (when T2 came Linda Hamilton blew me away), Platoon 1986, Aliens 1986 & Die Hard 1988. It's a lot of bonding strangers to survive, h/c, antiheroes or plain charismatic bad guys, hypothermia or fever, there was only one bed and bantering. The original wet rat blorbos. Also if it's not bloody obvious I had such crushes on Bruce Willis ,Tom Berenger and Michael Biehn, I watched so many bad 80s-90s movies because of them.

2. Wait a minute, TV shows, not MOVIES. My bad, I'm keeping nr 1 as is anyway. Hmm, I always list Hannibal or Buffy tVS/Angel tS whenever I do this so I'm gonna try to list something else that's major loves. So, Miami Vice 1984-1989. Baby me had such a crush on Don Johnson you could see it from space. Adult me gets it, bought the box & rewatches it from time to time, incl writing fic but never anything going somewhere.

3. The Expanse. It's probably a very obvious choice if you ever looked around my corner of Tumblr but I want more people to post about it so. Amos (my favorite pansexual murderbear), Holden (who gave me the Captaincy? Holy shit. How can I fix everything while also being stubborn and chaotic) Naomi (I live with my choices every day but I've got a new life here to do something with & I'll defend it with everything). OT3. Sometimes I want something of poly where Naomi & Drummer (dragon in the shape of a woman, a hoarding underdog with so much fight in her belly) gets to be happy too. But that's just to name a few, it's not often I'm so very invested in so many characters in a show but they all have arcs and space to exist. Unfortunately one of the mains isn't clicking with me at all so the first season took me a while to find all the gold.

4. 9-1-1; besides the love I have for the firefam I'm completely sucked into the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one. And the sunshine one is a golden retriever who's loyal to a fault and just needs food and love. While the grumpy one finds that letting the sunshine in makes life a helluva lot easier even if both of them almost dies a lot.

5. Hawaii 5-0. Talking about grumpy and sunshine. These two fit the bill too, they just can't decide who's who depending on the day and the drama. Danny's usually the negative one always predicting chaos. But Steve tends to be tortured or have shitty family secrets so his sunshine isn't that shiny all the time. But they're brilliant at bickering about everything which kinda gets them even. Instead they're great at hugs and saying I love you. I despise several plotlines but I can't quit them (I couldn't find a gif that includes Danny saying "Stop looking at me like that" in this scene but alas)

6. Stargate Atlantis, my first team turned into family, and my one and only OT4. McShep was my biggest fave, but i enjoyed team!fic just as much as OT4 fic. Reluctant leader with slinky hips and no self-preservation, paired with a smartass with a big mouth who always came through, a smarter woman who didn't get to kick people in the balls enough and stoic warrior who actually was the puzzle piece missing and more than meets the eye. They're a comfort fandom.

7. Due South. A weird cute soft series I didn't know had a fandom until after it was finished in early 2000s. And then I fell into fic (I never got to see the Ray wars up close luckily) and read so much by Speranza among many more. I've rewatched it a few times, esp if I'm home sick it's a comfort show.

I ran out of allowed gifs😭. Well, fuck.

8. Criminal Minds. I've rewatched this show many times because it's something about catching the bad guys and solving the case all neatly tied up. Another show I love but is even sadder and more horrible is Oz because happy ends doesn't exist because humanity is rotten and we pay for our choices. But it's so good I sometimes wanna rewatch it, I bought the DVD box. But then I remember how much I cried at certain eps, like the brothers and I don't. But sometimes it's good to cry over fictional characters.

See, I never saw him as asexual. I always saw him as being hetero but had decided at some point that he was incapable (and likely felt unworthy) of love while also fulfilling his duty to serve and protect. The man was such a protector that he avoided the “love connection” to make things easier when he had to sacrifice himself or make tough calls. Of course, his love spilled over to his close friends so they sometimes clouded his judgement anyway.

I think the main reason I felt that was was because 1) he had sex/it was implied/showed attraction towards various one-off female characters, 2) Conversion had him kiss Teyla, which in my opinion, was because he was reverting back to mostly acting on impulse and instinct, and shedding inhibitions and 3) John Sheppard was definitely the epitome of a tortured hero in that he was a loner prior to Atlantis, with no real family and disgraced in his line of work for being brave and loyal to friends “to a fault.” So when he finally found his place: a job he excelled at and a “family” who loved him, I think he was desperate to not mess it up.

Now I am not asexual in real life but when it comes to my shows, I aurally am. I think ships amongst main characters make things so messy, dramatic and predictable and almost always become such a focus of what used to be more of an action show (I specifically watch shows that aren’t heavy on relationships for this very reason). For example, I loved NCIS but Tiva became too much and even Densi became too overpowering (in my opinion, of course).

Anyway, with all of that said, I think Sheppard/Teyla would have been the only ship I ever would have supported. Mostly because I feel like they would’ve both maintained the essence of their characters while only giving brief glimpses into the inner workings of their deeper relationship. I also feel like they would have complimented each other damn near perfectly and that the writers wouldn’t have turned the show into a love drama.

On that note (and since I doubt anyone will actually read all of my musings) I will say that there are a lot more McShep fans than there were back when it was airing. Which is totally cool and while I do not see either of them as gay or bi, I do agree that their bond was such an amazing one. They were perfect foil characters in that John was heroic, stoic and physically attractive but had a deeply rooted and often hidden intellect and never-fit-in vibe. While Rodney was an outright intellectual who seemed to embrace his inability to fit in while also exuding timidity and fear. But turns out he had deeply rooted bravery and a desire to be accepted by others. Besides, their banter was priceless!

If John "I never see this coming" Sheppard is not asexual, why'd they make it look like the Iratus bug DNA in Conversion made caused him to feel sexual attraction for the first time ever?

"That was... interesting..." Is not the way I personally would have responded to kissing Teyla, but you go Bug!Shep.

"That was fantastic," Rodney said, and stretched languidly before rolling onto his side, putting his back to John.

John smiled and gladly took the invitation to play big spoon. Moving in close behind the other man, he pressed his face against Rodney's shoulder. "Mmhhmm, we're pretty good together," he agreed, and kissed the damp skin of Rodney's back.

Sighing in contentment John held him tighter and nuzzled at Rodney's back. Smiling as he rubbed his cheek gently against the warm skin, his stubble making soft scratching sounds against it. 

Rodney squirmed a little. "Stop that, you know I don't like it when you do that."

"Liar, yes you do," John countered and did it again. He pressed a kiss between Rodney's shoulder blades, then rubbed his cheek against the kissed skin like a cat claiming a loved one with its scent. 

Rodney squirmed some more. "Stop it. What did I just say?"

Grinning against Rodney's shoulder, John deliberately pressed his scruffy cheek to the other man's back and ran it up to the nape of his neck. The scrap of the contact seemed both loud and intimate in the hushed dark of the room. "I like it," he whispered continuing to nuzzle Rodney's skin.

"Well I don't."

"Yes, you do."

"It causes chafing."

"No, it doesn't."

"It makes my skin itch."

"Not true."

"It agitates me."

At that John laughed softly and moved a hand over Rodney's hip to his crotch, cupping his palm against the scientist’s chubby cock. "It turns you on," he said right in Rodney's ear, then rubbed his jaw over the shell of it.

John felt the goose bumps prickle Rodney’s skin, felt the shiver that ran through his body at the intimate touch. He smiled and repeated the action rubbing his cheek against his lover's ear, knowing full well the scratch of his stubble was loud and abrasive. "You like it," he insisted in a hushed low voice.

Making a funny noise in the back of his throat--a growl that really was more of a groan--Rodney rolled over, and on top of John. His glare was incredibly ineffective given the blush on his face and heat in his eyes. "I hate you."

"You love me," John countered.

Rodney narrowed his eyes and his mouth quirked up at the corners. John smiled back as the other man kissed him instead of arguing.

McShep One Shot - Black Hole

He wasn’t entirely sure how they’d started this particular conversation. They talked about everything, but this? People they’d dated. Men and women. People they’d wanted to date. People they’d never even bothered to ask. People they wondered ‘what if?’ about. There was a thoroughness to the banter that Rodney hadn’t expected to have with John during such an out of purview conversation. As though John wasn’t just talking about it, one guy to another, but searching for clues, digging around for information. It was almost... professional, like he got when he was working hard on figuring out a high stakes situation. There were always things they talked about, their thoughts spiraling from one thing to the next till they usually didn’t remember where they’d started from. It was easy, as easy as calculus or triple integrals. Talking with Colonel John Sheppard would never get old. But that didn’t mean it couldn’t get confusing sometimes. Because Rodney had figured out, nearly the moment they met, that he was supremely lost on the elf-eared, crazy-haired, smart-mouthed, just-plain-smart man in a way he’d never experienced, and wouldn’t dare pursue. Because how could anyone like John want anyone like him? But then he’d catch glimpses of John looking at him in a way that seemed far beyond the fondness of one colleague to another. Or John would say things that were very clearly compliments, but somehow far more appreciative of the matter at hand. Or their conversations would step right into entirely too confusing territories. Like now. “You’re as bright as a black hole and twice as dense, I swear.” John said, half laughing at his own description. “If someone practically waved themselves in front of you, naked, doing the macarena with sparklers in their hands, you’d have no idea they were flirting.” “You would know, wouldn’t you. Captain Kirk. You practically have flirting down to a science. Can flirting be considered a science? More like witchcraft, if you ask me. It’s ridiculous. Why can’t two grown adults just tell each other the plain facts. Just look at each other and say, ‘Hey, I like you. You obviously like me. Let’s do this.’ But no, there always has to be some sort of show. Grandstanding to attract a mate like a peacock is not my idea of how one person should woo another.” Rodney grated out, crossing his arms as he sat back on the one short couch in John’s quarters. The Colonel was sitting across from him, relaxed in his own chair, the chess game on the short table between them entirely forgotten by now. Rodney watched as John’s brows furrowed, watched as his hands went from relaxing to fingers tapping the ends of the arms on the chair in that enticingly rhythmic way that Rodney had once or twice (or two dozen times) wondered how it would feel on his own skin. John had that fidget of sorts, or was it a tic? Usually when he was trying to come up with a game-plan, one that required getting in to a lot of trouble, or getting out of it. But as suddenly as his fingers had started up, they stopped.  Rodney darted his eyes to John’s face and.... oh. What was that look? He’d never seen that look before. Or at least, not directed toward him. That was the look John got when he wanted something. Or someone. It made Rodney forget to breathe. All the air ceased to exist. Could a person live without breathing? Of course not. That was a stupid questi- John stood up without a word, the single action completely ceasing any further ramblings in his typically packed brain. In fact, Rodney had no thoughts at all. No sarcasm. No genius. Where had his genius gone? Apparently, it was on vacation. Because right now, he couldn’t understand what was happening. Or not happening. The confusion only got worse when John sat down directly next to him, turned to face him, his knee pressing into his.  “Hey Rodney.” John said easily, a spark of humor in his eyes as he took in whatever the hell kind of expression Rodney could feel himself making. “I like you. You obviously like me. Let’s do this.” John said his words right back to him. Rodney felt himself breathe again, but only because his heart started doing an ungraceful impression of a marching band and his lungs seemed to want to get out of the way of the noise. Could John hear that?! Because that was loud. That was... wait... “Are you mocking me?!” He demanded, frustration searing through him as he dropped his arms and sat straight up, facing John who just smiled. A real, warm, affectionate smile. It was like the one he usually gave Teyla, or even Ronon. Because Rodney knew John loved them like family. But he’d never turned that smile on Rodney. Not really. He thought he’d catch ghosts of that smile. But now... now he could see it, clear as day. And somehow, it was different. It was... “Rodney. I am not mocking you.” John said almost careful, like humoring a child. “In fact,” He scooted a little closer, “I have been trying every damn thing I could think of to flirt with you. If I’d know it was as simple as just telling you I want you, then I’d have done this a whole lot sooner.” “What, really?” Rodney was well aware his eyes were wide now, his voice a little tight. “Wait, do what?” He asked, brows furrowing lightly. Okay, so... maybe he could be a little dense. Maybe all the stuff he thought he’d seen was way more than just tiny moments of maybes. John’s face softened considerably, the smile fading to something gentler. It brought entirely new qualities to his already too handsome as hell face. It was really unfair. “This.” John said simply. And then he lifted both hands, palms cupping Rodney’s cheeks, effectively holding him in place as John leaned forward and... oh, OH. Any frustration, any confusion, any wondering went out the window and into the deep, dark depths of the ocean. Because John’s lips were obviously made of silk, and they fit so damn perfectly against Rodney’s, and when their tongues met it was instantly addictive, and Rodney could smell John’s aftershave, so warm and clean, and his hands were entirely too steady... more steady than Rodney’s. Because he could feel a fine tremble in every finger, flowing through every muscle, shaking him like he was freezing. When John pulled his mouth away, which made Rodney instantly whine, he was smiling. He was searching Rodney’s eyes. That same, adoring expression on his face. But Rodney could see it now. He could see what was different about it. “Oh.” Rodney said, almost flatly, despite the fact that he was feeling anything but unimpressed. John laughed, dropping his hands but staying close and Rodney found himself smiling back. “You’re right. You really should have done this sooner, Colonel. Quite frankly, I’m disappointed in you. You’re supposed to be the flirting expert.” John half-chuckled, half-scoffed. “Shut up, Rodney.” He stated, and before Rodney could protest, John started kissing him again. And honestly, Rodney was perfectly alright with that. Because there was kissing, and there was kissing. And John was, of course, incredibly good at it. Though Rodney didn’t have the time to think about it. Because he was thinking about what kissing could lead to. And the list was endless. Somewhere along the way, Rodney decided that people didn’t need to breathe to keep living. As long as he could keep doing this with John, he could live forever...

Oh, thanks for inviting me to play! Thinking over the 123 fics in the 9 different fandoms that I've written in over 17 years...

I started to write a whole thing about which fandoms sharpened my writing skills and which stories over all I'm immensely proud of but that isn't in the spirit of this ask! So I'll say that, for SGA (and McShep, in particular, because they are the ONLY pairing I've written in this fandom - what can I say? I'm an OTP sort of gal 😁) then I'm stuck between two stories.

I wrote Easy in 2005 and I was just starting to get my John & Rodney groove on, especially with regards to their banter and their characterisation. This is classic light angst with a happy resolution; friends to lovers where they are actually having sex then realise they're in a sexual relationship and OH SHIT, they might actually be in a relationship relationship! And there's quite possibly love there too!

The other one I really love is Coming Down which was written a year later. The summary is 'Before Afghanistan...before Russia...John and Rodney meet' because I couldn't resist writing a story where they meet before Atlantis and how that scenario might play out. It was most definitely influenced by Johnny Cash's 'Sunday Morning Coming Down' and has a sweet melancholic feel that will hopefully leave people with a smile on their faces at the end.

favorite thing about them: I love the character growth throughout the series. Especially the first three seasons. He has to take on the responsibility of the military of Atlantis completely unexpected and he's totally not ready for it. But he takes it on and kicks butt ;) Just wish tptb had shown more of that journey.

least favorite thing about them: how tptb wrote him. Even after the growth he showed, they still wrote him as a playboy and as someone not caring about the duty rosters and not knowing who is out on mission and not knowing who is on who's team. We all know that's bs. Of course he would know.

favorite line: I like a lot of what he says and how he says it, but one of my absolute favs has to be when he's jumping to Elizabeth's defense: "Just out of political curiosity, how much trouble is it gonna cause you if I knock this Woolsey guy in the head?"

brOTP: Sheppard/Ronon. It's clearly Joe and Jason's friendship shining through. They have fun banter, tease each other, but they can also have serious conversations.

OTP: Sparky!!! aka John/Elizabeth. What else did you expect. From the moment in Rising as he throws her that tiny smile as she's passing by him in the SGC gateroom, I knew to keep an eye on them and damn... was I right. Their chemistry went through the roof. Long wistful glances, being there for each other through difficult times, risking their own lives to save the other, ... and so, so, so much more. They will forever be my OTP.

nOTP: John/Rodney. They're friends, nearly a tie for the brOTP question. They have fun together, they have banter, they're best friends. But that's it for me. I can see/understand nearly every other big ship in this fandom (even Sheyla and I've lived through the Sparky/Sheyla war back in the day) but Mcshep. Nope, don't see it at all.

random headcanon: after The Eye of the Storm eps, John stayed in Elizabeth's room. Nothing happened, they just held each other while they slept. He just wasn't ready to let her out of his sight and she desperately needed sleep. After they never talked about it again. It was the one night they spend in each other's arms.

unpopular opinion: I think I already voiced it with my nOTP answer ;) I'm not sure I have any unpopular opinions about this show...

song I associate with them: Johnny Cash - Hurt I can just imagine John listening non-stop to this after losing Elizabeth because he will never forgive himself for leaving her behind on Asuras. I know it was released like years after the show ended, but ssssssshhhh...

favorite picture of them: Obviously, it's one where he's looking at Elizabeth. I've seen better pictures of this scene. But he's so soft in this, so caring. I don't think he's ever had another scene like this in the rest of the show. The softness on his face just kills me every time I watch this scene.

What made you ship it?

Look, I went into this show thinking I would not ship it, because I knew it was popular and I am Contrarian. But this one is just so good. It’s so good. It’s so so good. The two things that hooked me were the banter and the way Sheppard will just gaze at McKay in the most absurdly in love kind of way?? It’s ridiculous. Thank you Joe Flanigan.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

There’s a lot, but it took me until the end of the series to make me figure out what I like so much about them. 

First off... I hc McKay as autistic, because I don’t know how there’d be an argument he isn’t tbh. And something I noticed about McKay in his relationship with Keller is that (in my opinion) he masks with her, and when he doesn’t, she gets frustrated with him. She’s not doing anything wrong. They’re just a bad match.

On the other hand, while Sheppard will bicker and tease, McKay seems much more comfortable being himself around him and Sheppard seems to like all of McKay, even the difficult bits. As someone who’s autistic, that means a lot to me.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I have no idea. I am new to this fandom. From some of the weird anti-Weir stuff I’ve seen among some McShep shippers, maybe my unpopular opinion is that Weir is a great character and I love her friendship with Sheppard.

Science Bros (MCU)

If you've even dabbled in science bros shipping I imagine you've seen this one but it's so good that I couldn't not put it on!!! I just love how the mutation acts and how Tony's character analysis ♥ Bit dark at points but so good I've lost track how many times I've read it. Definitely one of the fics I'm still hyped to read for the 1000th time 😁

I'm not even really in the James Bond fandom there's just so many good 00Q fics it just sucks you in 🌀 Anyway this is one of my other favourite tropes: undercover couples but with some great pining and banter sprinkled in which makes it all the better 😀It's sooo good just read it

So many good ones in this ship - I've spotted a few I wanted to read whilst finding this 😊 I'm not usually one for merlin AUs without merlin having magic but I do love me some soulmate AUs ♥ I love the way they've managed to make the au fit so seamlessly with the characters. This one is so gosh darn cute, it brings out the sappy side of me

This week’s rec is Astolat’s amazing Stargate Atlantis fic, A Beautiful Lifetime Event. If you were in the SGA fandom back in 2005, when this fic was written, you’ve almost certainly read it; Astolat, known back then as Shalott, was a giant in SGA fandom, and this fic was huge. So huge, it has its own fanlore page, which mentions that A Beautiful Lifetime Event actually brought people into the SGA fandom.

This thing won awards. (Remember when there used to be fanfiction awards? I miss those).

I cannot say enough good things about this fic. I know I’m gushing, but I just can’t help it. It’s so good. And while there’s definitely some conflict, it’s a happy fic, the kind that leaves you smiling when you get to the end, which is nice here and now in the days of  apocalypse 2020.

Honestly, it hardly seems to need recommending, but now that SGA, and Sg1 for that matter, are streaming on Amazon and available to a whole new audience, I thought people who weren’t in the fandom back when then might not have read it, and that had to be rectified.

It’s a McShep fic, funny, sweet, engaging, and well-written, and full of the witty banter that’s the trademark of the McShep relationship.

If you’ve seen even a little SGA, and you haven’t read it yet, go do that now. And if you have read it, you should probably go read it again.

Fic Back Friday

Make a post recommending a fic you love from at least a year ago. Dust off the archives, dig through your AO3 history and share those old fics with newer fans who might not have seen them - and the fans who’ve been around forever and might want to revisit an old fave.

Reblog art, edits, and gifsets from seasons past. Dig out those hold headcanon and meta posts and bring them back. What were the popular fan theories? What was everyone writing fic about 2 years ago? Five? Go comment on an old fanvid that got you right in the feels. Queue up that OTP playlist and break out the tissues.

Random thoughts about the next few episodes of Star Trek TNG that I watched:

-Data and Geordi cosplaying/roleplaying Holmes and Watson was amazing

-they reminded me very strongly of Troy and Abed in that episode, and according to Mark Watches comments and a tumblr that was linked, I'm not the only one. Hooray!

-I was kind of disappointed that the episode wasn't just about Data blowing Pulaski's argument out of the water, and was actually shocked that the sentient holodeck Moriarty was like... not evil? He just attained consciousness (because a program had to achieve consciousness in order to challenge Data, and the holodeck computer is magic) and wanted to continue living and understand things! I think Futurama may have misled me; that or he comes back and is evil later. (...I expect he will come back, I don't know what to expect about his alignment) On that point, I am tickled that a program had to attain sentience in order to be a proper match for Data, because duh Pulaski, that is what makes Data a living being, stop casting aspersions on whether he has a soul, you're a doctor, not a priest.

-As the above mini-rant makes obvious, I still kinda loathe Pulaski and wish I didn't but.. god, she is just terrible. I'd like to appreciate that an older woman is a main character who gets to wear fancy costumes and get charmed by Holo-Moriarty, but she is not allowed to call Data a machine and tell him he doesn't have a soul and then go on holodeck adventures in a cool costume and eat crumpets. NO. I would guess that she was an attempt to create a Bones-Spock dynamic, but I think the heart of why it fails is that Spock was not bothered when anybody drew attention to his Vulcan attributes, much less a close colleague who we saw shared mutual respect, and they cheerfully traded barbs and mockery with each other indiscriminately. Meanwhile, we spent a season getting to know Data as sweet and earnest and basically just the best, Pulaski attacks the one thing he is constantly striving to achieve and/or improve in a way that smacks strongly of bigotry, and shows little respect for him, and Data does not retaliate because that is not who he is. On top of that, Pulaski replaced another amazing character who had just begun to have some great development and UST and the like. It's like they wanted everyone to despise her.

-I swear to god, that Fake Han Solo guy flirted with Data. And Worf. ...I'm probably just seeing a gay mirage oasis in the desert, because I am used to shows at least having an almost-married bromance (cough cough McShep), if not actual gay people, but I also don't think the Star Trek future utopia Enterprise would have cared if he was, so I choose to believe it. :P

Geordi: have you noticed Data has been acting a little insecure lately? 

Me: what, really? It couldn't have anything to do with the new crewmember who disrespects his sentience every time they're in a room together?

Me: okay, but star trek is probably not having that as a real plot, right?

Star Trek: not exactly, but proceeds to have a plot involving Data and consciousness, including several conversations about what he can experience and what he misses out on and that he deserves respect as a living being.

Me: ...okay, but that wasn't, like, on purpose, right? They aren't going to address the Dr. Pulaski situation or talk about how she is causing Data stress/insecurity, right? Because the writers seem to feel that it's just bantering and don't recognize it as bigotry because it was the 80s?

...omg I actually don't know what to expect from this, I seem to keep setting my expectations too low. It couldn’t be a real arc, right? Because that’s interpersonal conflict and that wasn’t allowed?

...are there at least fanfics for this?

ETA: I forgot to mention, I loved the random Vulcan doctor that appeared. Could we have gotten more of her instead?

ETA2: Personally, the conversation Data had with the Creepy Misogynist Asshole Grandpa felt much better and more interesting than any time Pulaski has talked to him. Because this was an actual conversation. There was give and take, and they asked questions of each other. He could discuss and criticize Data’s construction, but Data seemed more cautiously curious than anything else. CMAG was a little dismissive of Data, but most of his disrespect was not to Data’s face. While Pulaski just drops “oh, you’re just a machine, you don’t have a soul” bombs into what should be regular conversation, and it’s not exactly a topic that she is an authority on, or one that invites discussion. Bring back Dr. Crusher ASAP.

And did I mention this week that Brent Spiner is amazing? Because that. In less than two seasons, he’s played two utterly distinct creepy versions of the character he plays every day. Two characters with very different personalities who are creepy in entirely different ways, who are both trying to pass themselves off as Data, and all three believable and unique. Bravo.

Also, I didn’t have much to say about the Riva episode, although overall I think it was good; it didn’t strike my fancy very much, but I liked what it was saying by the end. Knowing that it was written by and starred a deaf man makes it even better.

25. Have I ever shipped something because of Tumblr before I watched the show?I have, yes. I shipped Kurt and Puck in Glee and Dean and Cas in Supernatural because of Tumblr. Stereo, too. Now, when I say "ship" I mean "enjoy fic with them as a pairing" I don't get into oTP status without watching the source--and I am much more likely to have a character i ship with happiness than a specific other person.26. Do I have a pattern in my shopping? Yep! The stoic bad boy softy and the loud mouthed snark-master. I love witty banter. I love characters who are misunderstood by most--except by the other person who is misunderstood. (Mcshep, Fraser/ray k, sterek, to name a few.)
