Jungwon's Birthday Gift

Summary: Jungwon has been going through the promotion circuit with Enhypen’s most recent comeback, making it difficult for you to see each other. The other members know about your relationship, and even try to help Wonnie reach you sometimes. But today was a special day, your birthday… But Jungwon’s late-night filming would have him booked for the entire day.

Jungwon called you at the beginning of his day at 2 a.m., leaving you a voicemail wishing you a happy birthday to wake up to.

“Hi, Baby! Happy Birthday! I can't believe we've been together for a year now and this is the first time we're celebrating your birthday as a couple... But I'll be a little busy today, so I don't know if I'll make it out to you tonight. I want you to be so happy today, I'll call or text when I get the chance. I'll bring my gift to you in person when I can. But for now, you'll have to settle for a happy birthday song!"

Jungwon proceeded to softly sing you happy birthday through the phone. It was slow and sentimental, you could tell he felt bad about not being with you.

You quietly sobbed with tears streaming down your face as you heard his message, playing it over and over to listen to his voice. You knew that being in a relationship like this was going to be difficult but it still got hard at times like these. You tried to enjoy the day with some friends; shopping, karaoke, and eventually stopping at a restaurant before ending the night. But your friends noticed you weren't really enjoying yourself. They pressed you until you complained that your boyfriend’s work would keep him busy for the entire day. They complained that he was a shitty boyfriend, trying to be on your side, but you knew you couldn’t explain the full reason why and you could only half-heartly defend Jungwon. You stepped outside the restaurant, put in your headphones, and listened to his voicemail one more time. When you closed your eyes, his song made it sound like he was right next to you. But you opened them again to find yourself on the sidewalk under the night sky. Alone. You wiped your face into your sleeve and your phone dinged with a text. It’s from Jungwon.

“I know you’re probably feeling lonely right now, I’m so sorry I can’t be there with you tonight. But I’m always with you in your heart, and you're with me. Keep an eye on the TV, and watch for the MCountdown, I left a present for you.”

You hurried back inside and asked for a remote to the TV inside the restaurant. The manager helped you work the TV until he got to the broadcast of MCountdown. Enhpyen just performed their newest song, and Jungwon was front and center and looking into the camera. He smiled and showed a hand heart to the camera. But you noticed something else. You saw two silver bands on his ring fingers. You bought him a set of couples rings on his birthday, two simple silver bands one marked with his initials and the other with yours, which he only took off for stages since their outfit designers forced him to. 

You remembered a part of his text, I’m always with you in your heart, and you're with me. You smiled as more tears built up in your eyes. It wasn't something big, but it was the best present you received that day. A special gift from the best boyfriend in the world...

jisung's hair fanned out against the fluffy pillows, a small pinch between the brows as he chews his plump bottom lip. the cute pink blush that's happily resting on his cheeks matches the colour of his perky nipples.

your hair tickles his skin as you trail your lips along his chest. your warm hands stroking and caressing his baby soft skin, leaving trails of fire behind.

“you're so beautiful, ji.” you whisper. “the most beautiful man i have ever seen.”

“you're going to make me blush.” jisung squeaks, his stomach filling with excitement as butterflies swirl around in it. you give him a simple hum of acknowledgement as you continue to attack his chest with kisses.

“you did so well today sungie. i'm so proud of you.”

“you are?”

“of course i am baby! you did amazing on stage. i'm always proud of you and proud of everything you have achieved and become!”

“thank you, yn..” as your fingertips delicately dance along his sides, goosebumps appearing on his skin to say hello, you move upwards to kiss his neck.

jisung muffles a soft moan as he tilts his head to the side to allow more access for you. you plant delicate kisses on his neck being careful not to leave marks, no matter how tempting it is.

“yn..” jisung softly moans, his hands gripping and bundling the hotel sheets in his hands. you hold onto his tiny waist, stroking it slowly with the pad of your thumb.

“i love you, han jisung.”

“yn..”

“i love you so fucking much. it feels like my heart is going to burst.”

with every word, every compliment and every touch from you, jisung's body and soul feels alive. his eyes welling with tears as he listens to you usher the three most deadliest yet beautiful words to him over and over again.

tears roll down his soft cheeks as he sniffles. you chuckle softly as you lean up to kiss his tears away. he laughs softly as you kiss his forehead, cheeks, eyelids, bridge of his nose, the tip of his nose before kissing his lips softly and delicately.

you pull after, trailing your lips along his jawline, neck and chest. butterfly kisses sit on his skin, fire burns in his stomach as his heart thumps over and over again against his rip cage.

a sudden whimper and gasps escapes his lips as you kiss his tummy. you kiss above the waistband of his boxer shorts, jisung holding his breath as he watches you. you hold onto his thighs, squeezing them as you eagerly watch him.

“yn.. please, you're teasing me at this point. i can't take much more.”

“you're such a good boy, ji.” you coo. you feel his hands rake through your hair, burying and massaging your scalp before suddenly gripping it and tugging gently.

you let out a soft groan before smirking at your flustered boyfriend.

“sorry! i didn't me–”

“oh. so it's like that then, huh?” you hum as you hook your fingers under his waistband. “ok, i see how it is, babygirl.”

|| The Friends Era (2014-2016)

Yoonmi and Mark actually met in 2014 because SHINee’s Jonghyun introduced them, but we didn’t actually get any public interaction or word of their friendship until 2015. Yoonmi was 2 years into her career, and Mark hadn’t even debuted yet, but he was on Mickey Mouse Club. Yoonmi guested on one episode where the concept was having all the staff leave the kids with Yoonmi so they would be comfortable asking her for advice and what to expect as kids in the music industry.

Mark had taken one of the seats next to her and offered her a blanket to cover her legs with because she was in shorts. Although Hannah led the others in speaking to Yoonmi, the latter often looked to Mark for what seemed like encouragement to speak.

We don’t get any interactions between them again until Mark debuts a year later. NCT U’s The 7th Sense promotions overlapped with BTS’s Fire promotions. When Fire won 1st place in Music Bank, Mark can be seen giving Yoonmi a one-sided hug. Just a month later, Yoonmi was promoting her solo debut the same time NCT 127 was promoting their debut. When Yoonmi won 1st in MCountdown, the tannies weren’t there, so Key had 127 accompany Yoonmi on stage.

Though many people got distracted by the fact Yoonmi and Haechan had a secret handshake, no one missed how Mark and Yoonmi lingered in their hug a little longer, or how he stayed next to her the whole encore stage. An ex-SM staff mentioned that Mark walked her back to her waiting room, which was on the opposite end of NCT 127’s.

Months later, it’s awards show season. Most known NCT-BTS interactions consisted of Hannah and Yoonmi hanging out, but apparently Yoonmi went to NCT Dream’s dorm often. Back to awards shows, MAMA was a gem. Not only were there Markmi hugs (the ICONIC ending stage hug where he lifted her), we had Yoonmi rapping along to Mark’s verses, Mark cheering especially in Yoonmi’s parts, and even Mark possibly jealously watching Yoonmi and NCT Jisung talking.

|| The Courting Era (2017-2018)

We didn’t actually know this at the time, but Mark and Yoonmi talked about it after they were exposed. Fans had released pictures from down the street of a KFC where you could see Mark and Yoonmi talking. At the time, we all thought it was them bonding while preparing for the SM Station Yoonmi would feature in and Mark’s feature in her album, but apparently Mark had also confessed to her and promised he’d prove himself when she said she felt scared.

They did a good job of keeping it lowkey. Aside from rare school photos together, the release of All I Wanna Do, Wannabe, Mark promoting with Yoonmi for Wannabe, their KCon Mexico special stage, and the selfies they posted after each of those, there was no visual evidence of them spending time together. Hannah and Jungkook (Chocouple nation presidents) sometimes would mention Markmi hanging out, but that was it.

|| The Secretly Dating Era (2018-2020)

Their anniversary is in early February, that’s all we know. They like keeping it private, and we respect that. But apparently Mark set up an at-home date for them and officially asked her that day to be his girlfriend. 

They still did a good job of keeping it lowkey to the point where apparently most of the neos didn’t even know they were dating, but everyone noticed how, despite how both of them had increasingly busy schedules, they both seemed to glow and be happier. (Aside from those few weeks Yoonmi and Yoongi were at odds, which is rumored to be because Markmi started dating)

|| The Reveal (January 1, 2020)

Every year, kpop and kdrama fans wait for Dispatch’s celebrity couple drop on New Year’s Day. To everyone’s surprise, Mark and Yoonmi were announced. Stan Twitter went into pandemonium, and everyone was clowning dispatch because we all knew they were “just friends”. 

To everyone’s further surprise, SM and BigHit both confirmed it later that day, and Mark and Yoonmi themselves tweeted about it, confirming they were dating.

|| The Struggle Era (2020)

Around late January of 2020, Yoonmi released a M.Y. Everyday video titled “I have a Boyfriend”. Here, we found out about the courting era, how long they’ve been dating, and the fact that they have been dating for around two years by then. It’s also cute because around the middle of the year they ended up both having pink hair!

It was rough for them since their schedules kept them apart, then Covid hit, and they didn’t get to see each other at all. It wasn’t until around August, eight months later, that they were able to see each other. Mark said it was the best birthday gift he could get, seeing Yoonmi and even having her play the leading lady in his “As We Wish” mini drama. Watch it, I’m begging! Every source ever that was there for the filming said the two were just holding hands and silently exchanging smiles and stories almost the whole time.

They did a weverse/vlive together, each of them streaming from each of their phones. They were smiling and leaning on each other the whole time, answering questions, and everyone could see how happy and comfortable they were with each other.

|| The Private but Not Secret Era (2021-eternity)

We don’t actually know too much about their relationship since they have been keeping it between them and their close friends and family (WHICH WE SHOULD RESPECT, OKAY?), but we do know from some stories that they try their best to spend time together whether it’s going out or staying in each other’s places. As fans, let’s remember that we should be more than happy with the fact that they actually talk about or mention each other a lot, especially compared to other celebrity couples. We also get the birthday posts and the occasional random instagram stories, but that’s it, and that’s more than enough.

Mark and Yoonmi are two of the most precious, talented, and hard-working people in the entertainment industry, and I’m glad they found comfort and solace in each other. As of this month (december 2023), they have been together for five years and about ten months. Cheers to a bright future for the both of them!

my favourite, and most popular, post from this month was my XG shooting star set. for some reason doing an entire set for a music video is really intimidating to me but i think i did well!

my favourite was this taeyeon weekend set. i wouldn't be tumblr user pinktaeyeon without having this be one of my favs. i think i coloured and sharpened it well. my most popular set was this irene monster set! i'm proud of this one as giffing stages can be SO difficult! i think it came out well.

june was A MONTH!!! shinee came back, taeyeon was doing concerts and EXO RELEASED LET ME IN AND HEAR ME OUT!!!! my favourite and most popular post was a set from exo's hear me out mv. this mv was just so special to me. seeing the exos having fun and being silly just meant so much. this set is another fav too. kyungsoo eating a donut gif you're so dear to me.

my favourite post from this month was this set of chanyeol and jongdae in chanyeol's good enough music video. seeing chingu line in yeol's mv really healed something in me. these two sets (cy, ks & jd & chanbaek) are close seconds just bc the good enough mv was so special. my most popular set was this one of taeyeon at the louis vuitton fashion show!

i haven't made much this month but this set of taeyeon's fabulous performance video is my favourite and most popular set! yet again she looks stunning. talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before etc.

this year has been a really good one for creating. i've genuinely had so much fun making things and also seeing other people make things for my favs too. being able to create for exo and taeyeon specifically has been so much fun!!
