do you have any forgotten trios headcanons ?
oh ABSOLUTELY. let's see...
I mean broadly I definitely like to think they hung out as a group a lot in the s2/early s3 mcmantle era, like reggie just popping by josie or kevin's house to see her but kevin's there too so they all hang together (go to movies, pop's, whatever, that sort of thing) like them in the great escape basically but just, more of it, hanging out like that is something they just do a lot
and it's like yeah kevin is kinda sort of a third wheel in this context but also not really because josie is very good at compartmentalizing both relationships so hanging out with reggie doesn't affect her ability to still include kevin, and reggie is just very socially adaptable we know how he can just Make It Work with almost anyone as long as he wants to, and I don't think it'd bother him because he's cool with kevin anyway and it also takes some of the pressure off from hanging out "alone" with josie
by which I mean. like when they (josie and reggie) do hang out alone obviously it's usually more in an "on a date" or hook-up capacity which is cool but reggie also likes the laidback group hang dynamic because it lets him and josie both just be themselves a little bit more rather than their more performative ~public personas they both hide behind slightly (especially while "casual dating")
basically reggie likes the element of also being friends with someone he's seeing because it's less impersonal and he is very starved of emotional intimacy. josie also likes it too although she's more reserved about it, she'd be hesitant to admit she likes hanging out with reggie outside of a hook-up context too because that would seem like a step closer to catching feelings??
and kevin just really likes when he's able to be included because while it felt awkward at first josie usually pays more attention to him (very strategic about how much attention she gives reggie) + reggie wants to impress her so he makes an effort to be really friendly and chill with kevin too, which then also leads to them actually becoming pretty decent friends
+ reggie also gives them both rides a lot (kevin has his truck but he likes riding in reggie's car better)
they have a groupchat. it was kevin's idea and probably for coordination purposes re: some core four scheme but now they just still use it, mostly to socially coordinate, vent about school/their day/their other friends or to post memes
I don't know... what all the actual gng roles are but I imagine when they played kevin was like, the ranger equivalent, josie a bard, reggie either a fighter or rogue
however I don't think them playing lasted very long because reggie got bored listening to the rules explained and then kept forgetting the rules even when he got into actually playing, and then kevin'd get very impatient and frustrated and josie would get annoyed with both of them. and also annoyed with like the little meticulous details of the game + the fact their actions don't actually control the story very much (ohhhh how meta)
this isn't really a headcanon but just a storyline that imo should have been, where kevin and josie both are into reggie and have a mild sibling rivalry about it
I know these are super messily worded and I'm sorry for that, hopefully I articulated them all right tho... I am definitely forgetting some but here's a few as a start! happy to get more specific though if there's anything of particular interest 💞
