MBBS in Bangladesh

She has not just been raped and murdered, she was very much tortured and brutalized like Nirbhaya. It is all over the Bengali news. I don't understand why no one is talking about this.
A 2nd year Respiratory Medicine in a well known government medical college in Kolkata, West Bengal, India is found in a semi-naked state and the college/ hospital called it a suicide.
I'm a MBBS student in second year. After reading about her, what crossed my mind is the amount of times she would have felt this fear, before this worst fear of hers eventually materialized.
"A young resident doctor was found dead in the seminar room of her medical college in Kolkata. Initial autopsy report suggests possible rape and murder."
As all are saying,
She wasn't walking the street at odd hours. She wasn't wearing clothes that were provocative. She wasn't loitering in dangerous neighbourhoods.
She was a resident doctor, looking for a place to rest in her own hospital.
She had been on duty and had gone to rest in the early hours of Friday.
The one place which was supposed to guarantee her safety failed her, miserably.
Someone comes, rapes a female pg who is merely resting in a seminar hall because there is no proper place for her to rest, brutalized her and kills her. How did NO one know? The college and police initially call it a suicide. Excuse me? It is also being said that under pressure from local politicians, the Principal and Dean attempted to alter the post-mortem report. Autopsy confirms sexual assault.
Tumblr media
What are the actions taken? One man arrested because his behavior seemed "shady". This is clearly not an act of one man. And this was a very well aware of and a well executed criminal act.
Tumblr media
Also, all this happening in WB right when the situation of bangladesh is in turmoil and news of Bangladeshi Hindus being killed and tortured, seems wrong, VERY WRONG. Happening right before NEET-PG, as 24 lakh doctors prepare to write an exam on Sunday to be resident doctors, this news has wrapped us all in agony and rage,
What are they working so hard for? Why should they aspire to be in a system that ignores their basic needs? The minimum requirement of a workplace is safety. That should be non-negotiable.
This profession demands extereme hardwork, a lot of mental strength and Physical Assaults, harassment, low paying jobs with odd working hours with intense humiliation. Now its the worst of all seeing a bright mind losing her life in the most disrespectful state of all. This should never happen to any woman.
I'd also like to question why isn't any big media house covering this news, where are all the international news channels all this time.
What are the students in other medical colleges doing? This talks about their own safety and lives. What are the medical students across the world doing? It's time for us to stand for the most basic Human right, safety.
Yesterday when my roommate, an MBBS final year intern was heading for her night posting, I feared and prayed for her to come back safely. Thinking about it, in a few years I will also have night posting, I'll also return from my hospital duties late at night. I'll also have to go through the same fear, and I'll also have to keep praying that my worst fears don't turn into reality. So many female doctors, nursing staffs, other Healthcare workers, other working women, non-working women go through the same fear, probably multiple times a day.
It is a shame to be born in such a disgusting world and society, it is shame to witness such a brutal crime, and it is a shame to live in this fear daily.
Those RAPISTS need to be hunged infront of the whole natio...if needed burned alive. People should fear the idea of raping, more than getting raped.

The Fletcher-Manaker Project Doctors For The Poor Series , March 2025 to March 2026
Introduction
This new Fletcher-Manaker Project Doctors For The Poor Series drive is aimed at attaining two objectives, namely (1) to earn monies for the granting of scholarships for qualified but needy students from several countries to study medicine and or nurses (Previous drive:-https://www.tumblr.com/a-basil-fletcher-things) and 2) to provide salary support for two medical doctors and three nurses working with Doctors Without Borders in Sudan, in Ethiopia (Tigriya Region), the Congo and Bangladesh ; a total of eight medical doctors and twelve nurses.
This document is divided into two sections. Section 1 addresses the now usual Fletcher-Manaker Project drive to provide funding for scholarships to study medicine or nursing and Section 2 The second section (Section 2) covers the raising of funds to contribute to the salaries of Doctors For The Poor operations in Ethiopia, in Sudan and in Bangladesh.
Doctors & Nurses For The Poor Series For Digital Textile & Digital Surface Designers- Revenues earned from the commercial use of these images will be used for the provision of medical and nursing school scholarships to male and female students of children of textile workers and cart pushers in India, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Mali, market vendors , and to students recommended by Doctors Without Borders in Nigeria and Tchad (African & Asians students will study in India), children of fishermen in Bluefields (Nicaragua), suitably qualified students from Haiti-students recommended by Doctors Without Borders and the Caribbean Coast of Colombia , in addition to four nursing scholarships to females of Mayan descent from Guatemala ( Guatemalan , Colombian, Haitian and Nicaraguan students will study in Cuba), to provide a total of eight nursing school scholarships for female students of Newlands and Wallen Avenue in Portmore, Jamaica ( Excelsior Community College Scholarships via the Holiness Apostolic Church , The Emanuel Apostolic Church , The Bethel Apostolic Church and The Newlands Seventh Day Adventist Church serving these communities), two MMBS scholarships to study medicine in Cuba to be awarded to one member of the Emanuel Apostolic Chuch and the other to The Newlands Seventh Day Adventist Church and to two (2) MMBS and three nursing scholarships to students of Kingston High School on Kings Street, Kingston to study in Cuba (In keeping with the Ellen Manaker’s Program presented below) and university/ college scholarships to the children of the lower middle class and working poor in Boston. USA. .Additionally four MBBS scholarships to study medicine in Cuba will be offered to qualified but poor students from Boston (USA). Permission for use please of photos contact The President Brandeis University at- [email protected]
The Kingston High School Problem
Kingston High School ( formerly Kingston Secondary School and before that Kingston Senior School) is located at the northern end of Kings Street, in Kingston. It is located about 300 meters South-West of the main offices of The Ministry of Education and about 50 meters South of The National Heroes Park. In spite of its “desirable location” it remains at the bottom of the ranks of high schools in the Kingston & St. Andrew Metropolitan area with few passes in the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) . The truth be told, is that for much of its recent past the school functioned in the main as a “safe place” and “day care center” for children from the violence prone communities from which the bulk of its students come from.
The problem is further compounded by the fact that, unlike the high performing traditional high schools, the Kingston High School is not owned by the Church but rather by the Government of Jamaica, which means that the school does not get the high level of supervision, guidance and material support as do the traditional high schools which are owned by the Church.
Within this context, it would appear that the administrators of the KingstonHigh School have been facing challenges finding suitably qualified students to take up The Fletcher-Manaker Project Scholarships for students to study medicine and or nursing in Cuba.It is in this light The Ellen Manaker Program is being proposed. If the Kingston High School is able to produce students who are capable of taking up scholarships to study medicine, it will be able also to produce students capable of taking up scholarships for the study of engineering and other similar scholarships provided by other organizations and educational institutions.
The Ellen Manaker Program
The Kingston High School must submit all relevant information of the candidates they are putting forward for the medical scholarships to Cuba, at least two weeks before the opening of the scholarships, to the Office Of The President of The Brandeis University. No funding shall be provided if the requirement of documentary submission is not met. Monies held back will be set aside for future scholarships to the school.
It is being proposed that US$1,000.00 be set aside to top up the salary of the teachers who is able to have at least 100 students passing mathematics at the CSEC level , with more money being paid out for grade 1 passes and less for grades 2 and 3 passes. This means that the teacher has have an examination pass rate of 100% to get the full US$1,000.00 . The same would apply to the teachers of English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
US$ 5,000.00 will be dedicated to the above. A similar system of incentives will be put in place for the teachers of the Caribbean Advance Proficiency Examinations Units 1 and 2 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
This program is budgeted to cost US$12,000.00 per year with the Principal and Vice-Principal getting US$2,000.00 each on the delivery of the required 500 CSEC passes and at least ten of the required CAPE passes in the first two years . Money to be put aside for a ten year drive starting 2025 after which it will be up to the graduates of the Kingston High School to continue the program. Given that the Kingston High School is about 100 meters east of the Jewish Cemetery, the local synagogue can be approached to distribute the monies on obtaining copies of the examination results.
Signed
Basil Fletcher,
C.C. alumni of Czech and Slovak universities living in Latin America and Africa, to Fatima Espinoza of Bluefields, Nicaragua, Delicia Bailey of Guyana and Della Fletcher from St. Georges, Grenada W.I.
Section 2
The Fletcher- Manaker Project is also seeking to raise funds to contribute to the salaries of two native doctors and three native nurses working at one Doctors Without Borders facilities in the following countries:- Ethiopia, The Congo, Sudan and Bangladesh. It is hoped that by doing so Doctors Without Borders can continue their work in these locations in spite of the funding cuts from USAID and other international and national funding organizations.
Revenue Distribution:- Forty five percent of all incomes earned will go directly to The Doctors Without Borders specifically for salary support as outlined above. Another forty percent of income generated will go to the provision of scholarships under The Fletcher-Manaker Project’s -Doctors For The Poor Campaign. Fifteen percent will be retained by The Fletcher Manaker Project. This drive ends on 1st. March 2026
End

However, the high competition, limited government seats, and expensive private colleges in India make this dream difficult. This is where MBBS Abroad becomes a smart and budget-friendly solution.
Tumblr media
What is MBBS Abroad?
MBBS Abroad means studying Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in a foreign country. Many countries offer high-quality medical education at affordable fees. These universities are recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO), National Medical Commission (NMC), and other international medical bodies.
Students get global exposure, international learning standards, and the opportunity to practice medicine in India or abroad after passing the required screening tests.
Why Choose MBBS Abroad?
There are many strong reasons why thousands of Indian students are choosing MBBS Abroad every year:
Low Tuition Fees
Compared to private medical colleges in India, tuition fees in countries like Russia, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Philippines are much lower. Some universities offer MBBS courses at a cost of just ₹20-30 lakhs total, including hostel and food.
No Donation or Capitation Fee
Most foreign universities don’t ask for any donation or extra charges. The admission process is transparent and purely based on NEET scores and 12th-grade marks.
Global Recognition
Universities offering MBBS Abroad are approved by the NMC, WHO, ECFMG, and many other international organizations. This helps students apply for licensing exams like FMGE, USMLE, or PLAB to practice medicine globally.
Modern Infrastructure and Labs
Foreign medical colleges have advanced labs, high-tech classrooms, and modern hospitals for clinical training. This gives students practical knowledge and strong clinical experience.
International Exposure
Students studying MBBS Abroad interact with peers from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds. This builds their confidence, communication skills, and overall personality.
English Medium Programs
Most universities offer the MBBS course entirely in English, so language is not a barrier for Indian students.
Top Countries for MBBS Abroad

Kazakhstan
Medical universities in Kazakhstan like Kazakh National Medical University offer MBBS courses with modern facilities and experienced faculty at a very reasonable cost.
Nepal
Nepal is very close to India and has many NMC-recognized medical colleges. Indian students don’t face any cultural or language barriers here, and the course follows a similar pattern to Indian MBBS.

Which of the following is a mandatory requirement for admission to an MBBS program in Bangladesh?
Pursuing a career in medicine is a dream shared by many, and Bangladesh offers a promising platform for aspiring medical professionals. The country has a well-established medical education system, with numerous public and private medical colleges offering MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) programs. However, admission to these programs is highly competitive, and meeting the mandatory requirements is crucial for securing a seat. In this article, we will explore the essential requirements for admission to MBBS programs in Bangladesh.
Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Exam
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) exam is the most critical requirement for admission to MBBS programs in Bangladesh. Students must have passed the HSC exam or equivalent from a recognized board or institution. The HSC exam is a two-year program that follows the completion of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam. Students who have completed their HSC exam with a strong foundation in science subjects, particularly biology, chemistry, and physics, are eligible to apply for MBBS programs.
Minimum GPA Requirements
To be eligible for admission to MBBS programs, students must have achieved a minimum GPA (Grade Point Average) of 9.0 in their HSC exam. This GPA requirement is applicable for both public and private medical colleges. However, some private colleges may have a slightly lower GPA requirement, typically 8.5 or 8.0. Students who have achieved the required GPA are eligible to sit for the admission test, which is the next step in the admission process.
Science Background
A science background is mandatory for admission to MBBS programs in Bangladesh. Students must have studied biology, chemistry, and physics in their HSC exam and achieved strong grades in these subjects. This requirement ensures that students have a solid foundation in the sciences, which is essential for success in medical studies.
Age Limit
There is no specific age limit for admission to MBBS programs in Bangladesh. However, students must have passed their HSC exam within the last two years to be eligible for admission.
Other Requirements
In addition to the HSC exam and minimum GPA requirements, students must also meet other criteria, such as:
- Being a citizen of Bangladesh or having a valid passport - Having a good moral character certificate - Being physically fit and free from any infectious diseases
Admission Test
After meeting the mandatory requirements, students must sit for the admission test, which is conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for public medical colleges and by individual private colleges for their respective institutions. The admission test assesses students' knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, and English.
Conclusion
Admission to MBBS in Bangladesh is highly competitive, and meeting the mandatory requirements is essential for securing a seat. Students must have passed their HSC exam with a minimum GPA of 9.0, have a science background, and meet other criteria such as age and physical fitness. By fulfilling these requirements, aspiring medical professionals can take the first step towards a rewarding career in medicine.

March 2026
End
