Is NEET required for an MBBS Abroad:
NEET for MBBS Abroad: A Requirement with Nuances
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) plays a complex role in pursuing MBBS Abroad for Indian students. Here's a breakdown to clarify the situation:
Tumblr media
Officially Mandatory:
Since 2023, the National Medical Commission (NMC), which regulates medical education in India, has mandated NEET for all students seeking an MBBS degree abroad, with the intention of ensuring a minimum level of competency. This applies if you wish to practice medicine in India after your foreign MBBS.
Alternative Paths:
However, there's a twist. Many universities abroad don't require NEET for admission. This opens doors for those who haven't cleared NEET or want to study MBBS abroad irrespective of practicing in India.
The Catch:
While you can study MBBS abroad without NEET, there's a crucial caveat. The NMC requires you to pass the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) to practice medicine in India. FMGE is notoriously challenging, with a pass rate lower than NEET's.
Considering Your Goals:
Practice in India: NEET becomes essential. You'll need to clear NEET for admission abroad and then FMGE to practice back home.
Practice Abroad: NEET might not be mandatory for some universities. Research the specific requirements of your target country's medical licensing process.
Additional Considerations:
University Accreditation: Ensure the university abroad is recognized by the NMC (for practicing in India) or the relevant medical council of your chosen country.
Alternative Entrance Exams: Some universities might have their own entrance exams instead of NEET.
In Conclusion:
While NEET isn't always a direct entry requirement for MBBS abroad, it becomes crucial if you aim to practice medicine in India. Carefully consider your career goals and research the specific university and country requirements before deciding on the NEET factor and your ideal MBBS path.

NMC To Verifies Medical Admissions
In the latest news, NMC has stated that no student is going to get admission in MBBS without following the full process of admission. The admission to each medical college is only going to happen after the verification of it. The college whose students are not going to be verified by the committee have to pay a fine up to 1 crore or their college fee of each year whichever is high.
Why the Rules?
The NMC has stated this rule with the help of a notice in July 2023. It has stated that the students who are going to take admitted in private medical colleges without taking part in counseling sessions or students who take admitted without counseling will have to face challenges. It is due to the colleges providing admission to students without them having taken part in the counseling. So, NMC has decided to impose a fine on the colleges that provide admission to students without selecting the students from counseling.
It is happening because the colleges are doing this and asking for more fees from students with low NEET scores. That left the students with no choice but to leave the admission and for that, they did whatever they could and the students had to suffer a lot. Thus, NMC has made a rule that in every process the students are going to be verified so that the colleges are not able to do this disorder and students can know if they are going to be able to get admission or not and should not waste their time or try for studying MBBS abroad or try for another chance in NEET.
The rule of following the admission process throughout has been followed in UG and PG courses for the smooth admissions of students. The NMC is going to take care of the admissions of MBBS itself. It has been said that the admission will be done with full safety and the students have to follow all the rules and maintain safety by themselves too so that fraud should not happen.
The NMC has undergone various times when the admission is done without the counseling process. One time, the students were submitted to college without NEET NMC had canceled their admission due to not following the process. Thus, all students are advised that they should take admission with the following process of MBBS admission that will not let anything happen to them or with them in the future, and the private medical colleges who give admission need to be aware for this because NMC is going to legalize everything.
The medical private colleges will have to face various issues if they are going to provide admission without following the process of admission as NMC is going to take action against them. NMC is going to impose a fine against them as discussed or there could be more than that so students have to take care of the admission process.

What issues are there with medical education in India?
What NEET 2023 minimum score should applicants aim for to study MBBS abroad? We advise students to aim for at least 135 in the general category and 105 overall (For the Reserved category).
*Demand-Supply Mismatch: There is a significant demand-supply imbalance, and the number of available seats is insufficient by population norms. These seats at private colleges cost between Rs. 15 and Rs. 30 lakh annually (not including hostel expenses and study material).
The majority of Indians cannot afford this at all. Since quality is unmeasured, it is challenging to make comments on it. Nevertheless, regardless of the private-public division, it is extremely inconsistent and subpar in the majority of medical colleges.
*Issues with Skilled Faculty: A severe faculty shortage has hampered the government's plan to launch additional medical colleges. The only thing the new schools have done is kidnap faculty from an existing medical college, with the exception of the lowest level, where fresh entrants arrive. Academic integrity is still a major concern.
The Medical Council of India (MCI) made an effort to close many of the corruption and ghost faculty loopholes that existed in the past. To increase the academic rigour of the faculty, it instituted the requirement of publications for promotions. But this has led to a proliferation of questionable periodicals.
*Low doctor-to-patient ratio: In India, there is one government physician for every 11,528 people and one nurse for every 483 people, which is much lower than the suggested 1:1000 by the WHO.
outdated curricula and methods of instruction Every day, significant advances are made in the medical arena, but the Indian medical studies syllabus has not kept up with these developments.
*Lack of social accountability: Medical students in India do not receive training that instills social responsibility in them as healthcare professionals.
Private medical colleges have issues. Due to a legal reform in the 1990s that made it simpler to establish private schools, a large number of medical schools with funding from businessmen and politicians without prior experience in managing medical schools have sprung up around the nation. It significantly commercialised medical education.
*Corruption in the medical education system: Fraudulent practises and widespread corruption, including fraudulent degrees, bribery and donations, proxy faculties, etc., are a serious issue.

India's shortage of doctors is a harsh reality
The National Medical Commission Bill has been heralded as a watershed moment that will significantly advance the state of medicine in India. National exit test latest news is the National Exit Test will be mandatory for students who graduated from MCI/NMC approved medical colleges abroad also.
Our nation falls well short of the WHO requirement of 1000 doctors per 1000 people. Only one of of India's eleven states adhere to the WHO standard, and no healthcare organisations do.
In addition to a severe doctor shortage, India's health care system is also struggling with ineffective human resources and subpar infrastructure. India has had a large number of fatalities over the past few years as a result of a lack of medical professionals, particularly doctors in government institutions.
Only 9.26 lakh doctors may be actively accessible for service, assuming 80% of the doctors registered with the Board of Governors/State Medical Councils/Medical Council are available. Since some doctors may retire, move into hospital management, or move abroad without having their names removed from the record, the correct data is never a match.
With over 1974 primary healthcare facilities operating without even a single doctor, the nation urgently needs at least 3000 doctors. With approximately 5000 surgeons needed, there is a significant shortage in community health facilities in rural areas.
In India, there are 15,700 basic health centres that only have one physician on staff. The predicted 600,000-doctor shortfall in India is expected to be resolved by 2022 if there is an increase in the number of beds available in hospitals.
Differences in the ratio between states
The WHO recommends one doctor for every 1000 inhabitants, although states like Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Delhi, Punjab, and Goa have more doctors than that. Despite this, the rural public health system lacks enough physicians. In the state of Tamilnadu, there are 4 doctors per 1000 residents. In Goa and Punjab, it is 1.3, 1.5 in Kerala and Karnataka, and 3 in Delhi.
The majority of doctors from these states are wary of migrating to areas like Bihar or UP where there is a dire need for medical professionals. There is only one doctor for every 8000 or more people in Jharkhand, and per 6000 or more people in Haryana. There is just 1 doctor for every 3000+ people in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
According to a study that was published in the Indian Journal of Public Health, India will require 2.07 million more doctors by 2030 in order to reach the 1:1000 ratio. Our government has set aside just 1.3% of the GDP for this, compared to the global average of 6% for public healthcare. More people can wind up paying high prices in private hospitals as a result of the lack of government doctors.
Are we capable of managing the COVID-19 crisis?
The first step in the fight against coronavirus is to maintain the ratio of doctors to the 1.36 billion people in the world's population. Addressing the imbalance between supply and demand for healthcare infrastructure is urgently needed. In order to stop the infection from spreading, most hospitals have strict shift policies for their medical staff. Nearly every other day, new reports surface of doctors quarantining themselves after getting the illness.
To address this unusual scenario, all states must comply with the fundamental healthcare criteria, including having enough doctors, nurses, and personal protective equipment (PPEs).
The national exit exam for mbbs latest news is the NEXT, or National Exit Test, is scheduled to go into effect in December of 2023 at the earliest. It will be used instead of the NEET PG and FMGE tests for graduate school admissions. In order to learn more about NEXT for MBBS, read on.
