howdy
i figured i should do an introductory post despite having this blog for like 2 months already
soOooOo (keep reading if you want)
Hello my name is Maz (or Maisie, i don’t mind) (i also use she/they)
I’m 20, from England and currently in 2nd year of Uni studying archaeology.
My dad introduced me to the monkees when i was 10, he showed me a few songs (my fave was sweet young thing) and then found Monkees on the Line on youtube.
and chat, that was it for me.
I watched that episode over and over and over again. to the point where now it doesn’t even feel real. i can probably recite the entire script.
i could only ever watch the episodes on youtube, which were like 240p and about 15 out of the 58.
I kinda lost touch with them during my teen years (dark, dark times). i remember seeing on the news when peter passed and it hit me like a brick. same with mike. and then in 2023 they had a mild resurgence in my music listening habits.
anyway i’m trying to expand my vinyl collection so for xmas last year i asked for a monkees one just for old times sake. and chat,
mary, mary started playing and suddenly i felt alive. i was like, i seriously need to start getting back into these guys. so i checked to see how much of an online presence there was and omg.
then i found the google link the show so i could finally after 10 years watch all the episodes.
suffice it to say they have taken over my life now.
peter was always my favourite i fully just latched onto him when i was a kid and i feel like that makes sense looking at me now.
