Not the first song to be posted here, but the first one I ever translated! Probably the easiest song I've done thus far, so I'd say I'm pretty confident with this one. If I had to say what it's about, I'd assume it's about going to Heaven with someone you love, or perhaps even a pet as the "shining rainbow bridge" (or "nijiiro kagayaku hashi") in fiction is a paradise in the form of a meadow where pets await their owners after death. Upon the owners' death, they too arrive in the meadow to cross the rainbow bridge to Heaven with their pets. That being said, given that Kojima speaks of "tightly [grasping the other's] hand" ("anata no te o nigirishimete"), she's likely singing about a human in this case.

This song is actually a foreign language cover of Salvatore Adamo's Mauvais Garçon, meaning Bad Boy. The original is sung in French so obviously there are some small differences here and there to account for how many syllables certain words have, but overall the translation to Japanese is accurate and works really well! A lovely, sad song about the bitter end of a romantic relationship and subsequent beginning of a new life elsewhere that translates well not only to the Japanese language, but also Kojima's musical style. Also, about the word "rokudenashi" - there are several ways to translate it including but not limited to "good-for-nothing" (which I went with), "ne'er-do-well", "scoundrel", "bad apple" and "bastard". Basically, it's a versatile word used to describe someone who just can't seem to do anything right. In this song, it's used as an insult directed towards the person who was broken up with, like it must somehow be their fault, but I think the way it's sung as well as the shift from the polite "watashi" when talking about herself to the slightly rougher "atashi" when being spoken about by others makes it sound like it's also being adopted as a term of self-deprecation.
