conservatives are really out here saying Dune Pt.2 is pro-life because Jessica talks to Alia's fetus. Like... this is literal insanity. Alia literally, in the source material, goes insane and becomes a monstrous tyrant???? Likely because of her exposure to the waters of life in the womb????? She goes completely off the rails? You really want Alia Atreides to be your pro-life icon??? Knock yourself out I guess??? But like... doesn't even Jessica in hindsight go 'would have been better if she died in the womb'? Also how pro-life can it really be if Jessica was like 'okay so this is poison you want me to drink to become the reverend mother? Don't mind if I do!' and glugged that shit down like no thoughts of that baby at ALL. Yall call that 'pro-life'??? Cause looks to me like she was making some choices, huh...? These people really do not give two shits about CONTEXT for their arguments. Guess I should not be surprise given how selectively they interpet the bible...
