I must say that the main thing that has caused me to despair of the Left is that I have come to see the question of Fascism and of anti-Semitism increasingly seriously as time goes on, and to view them as some of the defining questions of history and of modernity. If you do that it becomes very clear how woefully inadequately these things are understood, and just how unimportant the broad Left views them as.

#I have absolutely no answer to the question of anti-Semitism by the way #bo clue what can be done #maybe the Messiah will come and it'll be fine? maybe we'll experience the Kingdom on Earth?#short of that I have no idea #the one I am loyal to is some sort of committed socialist internationalism and solidarity that would guarantee a broad defense #of the Jewish people from anti-Semitism and the podsible maintenance of Jewish culture and the religion it is rooted in #but I completely despair of the Left beong at all capable of dealing with this when we can't even cast out the worst anti-Semites from us
