I feel bad for Starlo. (pt. 7)
Staroba is... not my cup of tea.
Still can't get over the fact Ceroba showed so little empathy for Star. It becomes even worse when you remember she started lecturing him ALL while wanting to take Clover's soul herself and lied to his face just so she could later betray the kid. At least Star tried to fix things. She started digging deeper and deeper into her plan and in the end got forgiven really easily.
I keep thinking Ceroba sees Starlo as a childish little bro or smth and even mentions how the reason she chose Chujin was because he was "mature." Yeah he WAS more serious in terms of personality but everyone's different. Chujin wasn't morally perfect anyway
'Back when I was a naive kid, kinda like you' and 'hey, it's science. your brain is still developing' rub me the wrong way. Basically what I got from this is how she thinks only someone childish and emotionally underdeveloped would consider a relationship with Starlo
Ceroba seems to view Star as a "poor naive manchild" who needs babysitting. She feels so bad for him that she'd sometimes tag along with his antics but won't hide the annoyance most of the time.

She'll also spare him from his feelings getting hurt, which is nice but it's not her honest opinion:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She seems to show little appreciation for what he tried to do for her even though they're supposedly best pals. She says how she's been burying her sorrows in the saloon but not how spending time there even slightly cheered her up.
Tumblr media
She envies Star's optimism but imo it sounded more like an adult envying a kid's naivety than one adult admiring the other.
Tumblr media
And APPARENTLY the time she spent with Clover in Steamworks cheered her up a little but not what Star's been doing for her for months.
Tumblr media
heck she didn't even notice he had been doing it for her. too stuck in her sorrows, probably
I think the reason for this is because the Steamworks reminded her of Chujin and Kanako and the life they used to have. Btw, she loved Chujin waaaay too much (and even though he's gone now she still doesn't think she'll ever be with anyone else except Chujin, she's proud of Chujin for a useless award, she still calls Chujin 'her love,' she keeps talking about Chujin's legacy and how Asgore and everyone else never believed in him), to the point she stubbornly supported him without question, only (maybe) seeing him more realistically at the end of pacifist. I just feel like Ceroba doesn't take Starlo seriously. It's not that she doesn't care about him at all, but… she definitely doesn't get him.
For these reasons, I'm not a fan of staroba.

SequenceShift Character Relationships
Don't worry, I still haven't given up on this AU yet. Even if it ain't popular, I do very much enjoy making content for it and seeing the same 5 folks like and reblog it. You guys are awesome! Now, I kinda just randomly selected a handful, so if there's others you wanna see (or maybe details I missed), lemme know!
Chujin and Ceroba
Ah yes, it's not an Undertale Yellow AU if our favorites foxes aren't divorced, huh? In all seriousness, Chujin and Ceroba met pretty much exactly as they did in UTY, with Ceroba being the one who proposed marriage to him. Things were going find, until a certain incident led to Kanako getting attack. After the creation of the Amalgams and Kanako's (presumed) death, Chujin was horrified with what he'd done and wanted to entirely pull the plug on Project Integrity, but Ceroba wanted to keep it going, entirely bent on her promise to bring back Fallen Monsters to life. This led to their falling out, and Chujin leaving the Imperial City with a handful of his followers.
Ceroba was understanding as to why Chujin didn't want to see her anymore and let him leave in peace. Unlike Asgore, she does know he's living out in the Remnants and of the Colony's existence. However, she allows them to live peacefully and undisturbed as long as they don't cause any problems. Chujin also doesn't hate Ceroba to the same degree that Tori hates Asgore, so there is a possibility for them to reunite, but they aren't exactly yearning to leap into eachother's arms.
Ceroba and Dina
Like I said earlier, Ceroba, Starlo, and Dina were a part of a childhood friend trio. It started pretty simple, with Princess Ceroba befriending two commoner kids who each had parents working for the Royal Family. As they grew older, Dina actually did develop feelings for Ceroba, but she knew Starlo was very much into the Roba, too, so she put aside her own feelings for his sake (yeah, didn't work out too well, but still).
Dina remained the humble bartender for a while until Kanako's assassination attempt. After seeing Ceroba spiral into depression, she volunteered to join the newly formed Royal Rangers. Of her companions, she was the one who was closest with the Empress, talking to her and comforting her when need be. She also took on the Royal Executioner role so that Ceroba wouldn't have to go through the pain of having to take a life with her own hands. Worth noting Dina's feelings for Ceroba have resurged by this time, but she doesn't want to make a move just yet. Though that might change in a True Pacifist Route... Sorry Chujin and Starlo
Moray and Mooch
Both of these two have had their troubles, especially considering the Wild East Massacre. Mooch had it particularly rough, as it left her with a fuckton of anxiety, which she hides beneath her 'gremlin' persona, as I call it. The more Clover kills, the more that side comes out. Moray tries to hide it, but they've also been hurt pretty bad by the Massacre. This has led them and Mooch to become really close with eachother, especially after the Feisty Five broke up as a friend group, so these two really only have eachother by the start.
They do have something of an older-younger sibling type relationship, where Mooch's chaotic nature and kleptomania contrasts with Morays more orderly side, but at the end of the day, they very much care for one another. Also worth noting that they both fight Clover in Lakeside at the same time.
Starlo and Kit
This basically started after Martlet requested Starlo to look into a strange monster sighting within the Barrens, thus leading him to encounter the usually elusive Kit. The two started talking and formed something of a friendship with one another. It's worth noting that Starlo doesn't know that Kit is Kanako, nor does he know that she's an Amalgam (in fact, he doesn't even know what an Amalgam is. Ceroba and Martlet are pretty tight lipped on that subject).
They aren't super close friends either. Kit is very reclusive and unwilling to share more about herself. Their conversations haven't really gone beyond simple small talk. Besides, she only really talks to him when he sees her (which he does have pretty damn good perception). Now Starlo does have a sort of funny feeling when it comes to Kit and maybe even almost able to put the pieces together, but given his role as Captain of the Rangers, he hasn't really had time to look into it.

Starlo apologist speaks again
this picture right here.. i hate it sm.
Tumblr media
TIME TO DEBUNK EVERYTHIN', YEEHAW!
#1 Starlo's name is uncool on purpose might literally mean 'Starloser' It fits his character arc. In other words, he's not the cool, badass sheriff he pretends to be (he's not 'North Star'), but a kind, friendly farmer inside
#2 He definitely DOES care about Clover. Why else would he keep saying he's proud of them, praise them, believe in them, get worried about their safety, send them a warning letter, immediately run to check what's going on with them, get angry at Clover for not staying HOME (yeah he really did consider the Wild East their home) tell Martlet to bring Clover to safety, and jump at Ceroba to try and protect them? don't question the love of star daddy
#3 Undyne actually IS a badass. Starlo isn't. He's a softie who cares about pretending to be cool bc he's insecure, even when in a situation where he could die. He wants to be a hero. He wants to be SOMEBODY, not a NOBODY. Maybe he also cared about his own status more than his town, friends and family (which could be the reason he brought a bb gun). Or he just wanted to buy time so the others could hide. Now that I think about it, it's the latter. Why else would Dina say this in genocide after you kill Ceroba: "He was more of a hero than you'll ever be." That's the whole point of his geno fight that, and a lil bit of angst when roba finds him dying IT'S CALLED CHARACTERIZATION
#4 He kidnaps Clover bc they're a human. The only human who's ever set foot on the sands of the Wild East. He's obsessed with human culture. His whole life ARE westerns. Why? Whether it's the sense of justice cowboys represent, the exciting lives they live, or both, Starlo feels like he matters thanks to this nerdy interest, like he can contribute to his community
#5 i see Martlet as a big sis not a mom bc of how young she is, despite that one joke in bits & bites, but to each their own Star jails Martlet bc of the potential of the Wild East getting shut down. She did threaten to report them to Asgore and well... according to him, better safe than sorry. He even admitted he doesn't feel right doing it
#6 It WAS wrong of him to blame and attack Clover like that, all for his own status and ego (and to get his friends back) It's called a flawed character making a fucking mistake. Or did you expect someone perfect, with no room to grow and develop throughout the piece of media? Also, Clover is not an infant, they're a child. If it was meant to be a joke, it ain't funny bucko
#7 he either actually forgot about the fact he himself kidnapped Clover bc he wasn't in the right mindset (understandable), or purposefully ignored the information to avoid responsibility for his actions & shift the blame onto Clover (he IS flawed and thats more than ok)
#8 in neutral, he doesn't apologize bc Ceroba doesn't come and snap him out of his fantasy & mindset
#9 he did his best with the apology. you can't blame starlo. He's not very good with expressing himself and emotions in general (that he has been avoiding for so long via escapism; he also uses escapism to help Ceroba instead of talking openly with her)
#10 he doesn't know how the ceroba & clover interaction played out bc he was unconscious. Maybe he thought Clover had managed to talk her outta fighting. He says in true pacifist "Yall had a fight?? and the deputy won??" In other words he didnt know they had even fought. To add fuel to the fire, his bff just died and star, being the forgiving sweetheart he is, had wanted to give her a chance at redemption, but never got the chance to. He never got the chance to say goodbye, either.
#11 just bc starlo's an adult doesn't mean he can't have these flaws/behaviors. Every individual is unique. Starlo is deff deeply insecure and most likely autistic, too. Please think about that in the future, thank you
my current feelings can best be described by good old Axis

Flaws/imperfections of each main character
because we all have em'.
Dalv
pushes people away
clings so much to how things turned out in the past that he's unwilling to make new memories
as that one sweet corn said if you backtrack, he's a "mopey mope"
deff has OCD
not trusting
not friendly
unwilling to get out of his comfort zone
trusts his own judgement too much
he's literally me. I feel called out... thanks, Dalv. You're awesome ❤️
Martlet
unwilling to get out of her comfort zone
slacker
scatterbrained
bit of a dummy (I feel so bad for saying this; love you Marts! ❤️)
blames herself too much
anxious
not sure if she's depressed, but she DOES lack self-confidence and is a bit awkward at times
REALLY likes material comforts & nice things to the point where it was her main reason (besides not having to work too hard) for keeping the not-so-moral royal guard job (also mentions how she wants to steal jewels from the mines)
unsure of herself and her future
gives too many chances/a bit naive (to geno Clover)
trusts her own judgement too much (that getting a job as the royal guard was a good idea, that geno Clover is good deep down)
Starlo
INSECURE INSECURE INSECURE
doesn't love himself :(
kidnaps a child
overly enthusiastic to the point he literally "started a fire"
reckless (while North Star)
relies so heavily on his social image that he expects it to make him feel worthy (of love, admiration)
hides his quirks
a biiit arrogant (while North Star)
mischievous childish trickster (to Blackjack, maybe… unless Jack's role-playing the role of the "victim"; while North Star)
needs too much external validation
uses distractions to escape negative things/emotions instead of dealing with them
people pleaser
puts too much pressure on himself
ignorant (of many things such as horses and gumballs, but mostly of his and others' true feelings and desires) He just doesn't get that the others weren't having a good time, and that they wanted the old him back. He just doesn't get that all he did, he did because he doesn't like who he is and wants others to love him for his persona. Thankfully he realized it in the end
refuses to accept that he was being too much into this whole thing and instead turns to STATUS STATUS STATUS (more love, more admiration = getting his friends back)
hides his true self from the world
just wants to be cool
naive and foolish (don't even remind me of geno)
my boy's totally not perfect, gotta love him for it :)
P.s: holy heck he's the most flawed of them. Love you sm star 🌟 ❤️
Ceroba
manipulative
liar and hypocrite
pessimistic
blames herself too much
won't forgive (herself) and forget (what she did wrong)
stubborn
emotionally weak (sorry Cer, Star helps ya with this)
emotions and feelings influence her actions too much (praising Chujin even though he didn't win a prestigious award, injects Kanako the second she mentions how Chujin's dream could "come true" if she injects her, willing to brutally hit Martlet and Starlo and potentially kill them just for what she felt she had to do, aka kill Clover)
clings to the past too much/nostalgic of better times instead of making new, happy memories and letting things go (you can do this, Cer ❤️)
everyone
• willingly or unwillingly killed/almost killed a child
• ok guys, I really can't excuse this one. Sorry :(( I love you all tho :))
