I feel like a bad person for this but I am a little bit surprised when I see people who are very surprised by their favorite mainstream celebrity not caring about them or social issues and focusing entirely on themselves and never paying any mind to things that don’t effect them as an extremely privileged wealthy white cishet person. Like wait you thought this A list celeb gave a shit? About anything??? You put this person on a social justice pedestal over the absolute bare minimum or even just subtext, and thought that they actually cared about saying and doing the right things rather than just??? Looking good????? And you’re surprised when they fail you????????

#I feel like a bad person because I saw somebody crying over this #and I do feel bad for them clearly they idolized this person and really looked up to them #and are hurt by what they did #but also I can’t imagine being. shocked by this. like have you seen the everything about this person?#this seems pretty standard to me #I think I just have very very little faith in celebrities morals #like I don’t understand people who are shocked when one half of a celebrity couple cheats on the other #who cares. I’m more surprised when a celebrity couple stays together for an extended period of time #I suspect a lot of celebrity relationships are some kind of staged PR #I also don’t think celebrities are the pinnacle of activism #celebrities can be activists the two absolutely can exist at the same time #and I think there are some who genuinely do attempt to use their platform for good #but also if you are searching for reliable activism #maybe look for. actual activists. and not just whoever is on the top 100 charts
