Evaluation for Personal Branding

It has just been over two months since I was first given the project. I found the project quite interesting. The prospect of creating a website is something I have been interested in for a while now, and this was the perfect time to put my ideas and practises in motion. This project has had its fair share of issues that I have resolved.  

The research I did was helpful, looking at both 2D animators and Stop Motion Animators website allowed me to make a type of hybrid website with me utilizing the best parts of each website I found; equally, the same can be said for the show reel. The show reels I have found were quite memorable. I looked at many different show reels with 2D, CGI and Stop Motion just to give me a feel for what is required. Later in the project, I found some upbeat and catchy music, which I used in the show reel as well, used my best clips for the show reel. My one criticism is I wish I had enough time to edit more footage in. With my channel ident, I feel it is quite plain and simple with the white background over black text. I think in the coming months I may try to make my indent better. I am also disappointed with the lack on the new clips I have been working alongside this project. Both the ‘BBC Listening Project’ and ‘The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas’ were projects I wish I edited in but sadly I didn’t have the time. In terms of clip usage, I think I put my best work in there. It was mainly a lot of University work because I felt my work outside of University could not compare. 

My CV was a point of interest. I have always had this colour scheme, of Orange, Black and White. For the most part, it has stayed like this for a long time. In an attempt to try and change it I looked at other people’s CV’s online to try a visual and interesting CV and whilst a few stuck out, when I tried to apply what I gathered from online sources, I couldn’t make it work with my CV. My CV was just a wall of text and I wanted a piece of work to stand out. I wanted to show my passion for animation while trying not to make my CV so boring, so I attempted to take a few pictures of my Stop motion Models I have made for projects. Only one real model seemed to work well and that was the puppet of me where my picture is meant to be. For the most part I feel like I could of perhaps found different methods then just a wall of text describing my work experience or education but as this is something that will be constantly updated I know I can fix these issues. 

My website took a while to officially make just because I was unsure as to what design I should go for. In the end, I went for a basic website, which had all the necessary elements I needed as well as me adding a few extra elements as well. The website changed a lot from its inception. Before I was just trying to match the colours of my CV, which I did for a while until fairly recently when I had to change the background to be a bright yellow. I did this to make it stick out more than the white did ever. I am still unsure if this was the right move but currently I do like the colours of it all. The logo is another point of interest. I have had my name and my brand ‘Imagination Animation’ join up. I wanted to do this to show I am actually quite imaginative and that I like to think outside the box and make stuff people would not normally think off which I think describes me. In terms of what I would do differently, I would maybe add another subsection as well as change the colours but there is not much I would do to this other than small updates. 

Overall, I am very happy with how this project has gone as well as the outcomes I have been presented with. I do intend to keep updating my Website, YouTube, Instagram and CV updated as soon as work is done as if I leave one of these not updated, its worse than not having a social media presence at all.
