btw when i’m referring to Aeryn as a mercy killer or an angel of death or whatever that is NOT a representation of what i think of him and definitely not a representation of who he really is. His morality is uhh. the best word i can think of is Frail. (and very much a burden to him but that’s a separate post.)

Because Bhaal made some fucking mistakes when crafting this guy. Gave him too many feelings, too much empathy. So fragile is his mental state, he has to believe these things just to keep going; that he was sent to ease the suffering of those buckling under the cruelty of this world with the knife. And so loose is his grip on reality, on right and wrong, he can.

This is why I love durge coming with medicine proficiency so much - sure, the in-game reason is all the fucked up shit they get up to, but Aeryn was a serious, bona fide nurse for a while between fleeing the Foster Family Murder and being found by the cult, and definitely keeps it up even after. Just in different ways. and with different motives :)

*okay Gortash helps. And he’s definitely enabling these delusions and manipulating them to better serve him. of course.
