TMAGP Theory Board (S1 Episode 6)

What happened in Episode 6: Introductions?

This week's incident report was wild! I'm guessing we've met our first Protocol Avatar you guys and they are amazing!! I believe that Needles is one of the first emerging avatars in this world and an avatar of the flesh (that could also explain why the flesh has been so prevalent so far in the story maybe because it was able to influence someone into becoming an avatar first and therefore will get a head start in manifesting into the universe.) going off of that I find it super interesting how when Needles calls the emergency operator they don't appear afraid of them this could be just be this specific person is not afraid of needles like he said, but I think it would be cool if that operator is meant to show how this world is new to the powers, so the sense of fear of them has not had a chance to build yet

Ok lets talk about Celia First of all I love her and I really hope nothing terrible happens to her but I'm more interested in the fact she is not new to the TMAG canon. back in The Magnus Archives, Celia was originally a statement giver named Lynne Hammond but she is later introduced back in as one of Georgie and Melanies cult members. after the change Lynne lost her memories and began going by Celia because she couldn't remember her name both Archives Celia and Protocol Celia share the same voice actor (me and my roommate have been checking every new voice to see if they have any connection to the Archives universe after the Chester and Norris having Jon and Martin's voices happened) I started thinking maybe this is just this universe's Celia and not Celia being transported along with Martin and Jon. But if that was the case she would be going by the name Lynne not Celia ( because the change never happened so her memories stayed intact) Nope this is without a doubt Celia from the Archive Universe. This begs the question why is she at the OIAR? she seemed to be a normal citizen not associated with the ceaseless watcher was there something more to Lynne's original statement? I'm guessing she didn't just happen upon the OIAR by accident Her connections to TMA are to strong maybe she's looking for Jon and Martin who she knows would be the most likely to be transported to somewhere else with her. what will be her reaction to hearing Chester and Norris then?! Theres so many questions with this character and I cant wait to find out more about her

Also lastly this was not related to the events of this weeks episode but I updated the Augustus(Jonah) character card and instead of having a silhouette I made a crusty looking Jonah Magnus illustration hope you guy like it as much as I do (even though it is of the crustiest stinkiest man)

Here is where I try to convince you that the fire at the Institute correlates to the creation of FR3-d1. First, the evidence:

The fire at the Magnus Institute was "20 years ago(?)" According to RedCanary.

The error that caused the text-to-speech to happened around last year (2023)

The first Norris incident is about a woman that wanted to hear the voice of her husband that she had loved "for twenty years", but only some of him remained.

Both statements are from 2022, so those 20 years are the same (2002).

Windows 4 appeared in 1996 and was discontinued in 2006, so FR3-d1 must have been created in that timeframe.

These two statements are from the same episode and both refer to "20 years". It could be a coincidence but somehow I doubt it. I know we all think that JMart are the puters (this universe's or TMA's), but I just love these details.

I think whatever caused the fire is responsible for getting JMart (and possibly Jonah) inside the computer, that's why Norris reads about not hearing a voice he has loved for 20 years. Not only is it painful to Imagine (my poor baby) but I think it's linking both events.

The whole fire thing still reeks of Gertrude and Agnes. But, if I'm reading this correctly (I'm not) I'm sure whatever happened also caused JMart to be trapped inside FR3-d1. I just can't wait till we find out about the fire (I'm chewing my own arm).

Now, here is where I get conspiratorial. According to Alice the OIAR has probably been around since the 70's but we don't know about that. Certainly FR3-d1 couldn't be created before 1996...but it could have been created in 2002, the year the Magnus Institute burned down. Besides, before burning down, according to Alice's theory, the OIAR and TMI must have coexisted as institutions meant to record and classify supernatural incidents (one from the government and one private). But before FR3-d1, how did the OIAR acquire their incidents? Did they compete with TMI or did they share information? Was there some sort of deal between the two organizations?

I think that Chester, Norris and Augustus presence inside the computer and the fire happening in 2002 is not a coincidence. Also, the missing paper at TMI seem really suspicious. Who do we know wants to get their hands on supernatural incident records? The OIAR.

I don't have enough evidence to put together a theory on how the OIAR got their hands on the souls of two (three if that's Jonah) TMI employees for their computer program. They might not even realize that's what happened and maybe TMI is the one infiltrating the OIAR. But I just think the years match too well to be a coincidence (specially with the repetition of the 20 years in two incidents from the same episode)

I'll update my theory as we get more info. I just need to Know what happened in that fire.

Episode 1.

This summary is going to include the theory that Elias, Jon and Martin are all voices in FR3DD1! I’m sure you all can do your research.

I’m going to start off with my general thoughts! This episode was long and I’m sorry for the rant, it’s supposed to be concise but I got distracted! Please let me know what you’d like me to focus on in future, I’d love to hear your ideas!

What are my thoughts?

- At the beginning, we seem to be listening to this episode from the recording of a PC. Maybe the very same PC that holds Jon and his friends? Who knows!

TEDDY: Teddy’s leaving party! That totally isn’t gonna bite him in the arse! I find it quite surprising as I thought institute workers couldn’t leave. Though, this is the OIAR. Not the institute. But I think we’ll be seeing our little friend quite soon!

COLIN: Colin is a little ray of sunshine, isn’t he? Can’t wait to see how he handles our little friends in the computer! He seems to be under the sort of “curse” that prevents him from leaving. Teddy seems to know it. Which begs the question, why can Teddy leave? He has been working on this program for 2 years, and has tried everything under the sun! At the end, he seems rather frenzied. He is frantically searching through drawers and talking to FR3DD1. He seems aware that Freddy can hear him, and determined to find out! I wonder how well that went for our past team, hmm?

GWEN: It seems Gwen’s anger is unfounded. Why? I haven’t a clue. Maybe we’ll find out why she hates Alice in later episodes? She also seems to want to be head of the OIAR badly. Maybe something to do with her being a Bouchard?

SAM: Sam on his paperwork ticked a box called “response 121”! I’m sure that’ll have 0 consequences later on whatsoever! Don’t you?

A brief summary: a spelunker called “RedCanary” goes to explore the Magnus institute ruins after some form of fire happened years ago. He seems spooked out, finding “symbols and stuff and some pretty suspicious stains on some floors.” Aswell as a sense of anxiety he didn’t have before! He ended up getting banned due to Gory images, something about eyes? Maybe it’s our good friend Jonah leaving his mark! Who knows?

HEELLLLOO EVERYONE!! I am going to talk about THE MAGNUS PROTOCOL and a Theory (maybe theories?) I have so spoilers for the first two episodes of The Magnus Protocol and major spoilers for the ending of The Magnus Archives!!!

(Someone has very likely said this before so it might be repeat information)

Okay. okay. Okay. okay. You guys know… that one comment Alice made about the voices reading statements, right? How there are three voices you can hear when statements are read aloud? We’ve got Jon and Martin as Chester and Norris, but she also mentioned an Augustus there too. “Auhhh but who’s that?? There was nobody else in the Panopticon-“ WRONG!! It’s our babygirl Jonah Magnus.

First off, during the end of the Magnus Archives we get a little “after” dialogue from the girlies about what’s going on. They mention something happening to Simon and why it’s probably for the best that they didn’t find any bodies. But that’s the thing. They didn’t find ANY bodies. Not Jon or Martin sure, but Elias’s corpse should’ve just been hangin’ around in there. But this seems to indicate that it wasn’t. So where’d to go? Probably the exact same place that Jon and Martin went.

Is taken from the trailer for the Magnus protocol, and I’m sure a lot of people are familiar with it already. The two things I want to draw attention to here are the J.01 and J.02 lines. J1 and M1 are… you know… Jon and Martin. But the J2 doesn’t really have an answer unless you think that it’s Jonah, whose body was never found when the Panopticon fell. Honestly I don’t know what’s up with the master and slave lines but I’m sure those (and the fact that they failed/are undefined) is important.

What I DO recognize however is the date that’s set for 2023 at the very bottom. Keeping in mind that Alice mentioned all this freaky stuff started happening a year ago, and the series takes place in 2024, this is likely the very event we’re seeing of the computers being all wonked out. Though the question I mostly have here is, did someone (or something) put those three in there intentionally, or did that just happen to be where they went after the end of TMA? Furthermore, why NOW? Why now years later (aside from real-life time happening (because I am 100% sure that Jonny has an answer for this and I want to know it)) in 2023? Is there something special about the specific date? What’s up with the EPA Polution Preventer (and why is it spelled wrong)? The memory test went okay, do the three remember themselves? Do they know where they are?

Okay. OKAY. I’ve rambled on for a while but don’t worry we’re close to the end of my scattered, disjointed thoughts. Because the one question I have now is “Who’s listening?” In TMA it was the Web, right? The web, with tape recorders drawn to the lighter (which I’m pretty sure is what was happening but I might be a lil forgetful). But there’s no lighter here? And we aren’t using tape recorders, we’re using… computers, maybe? A cellphone, possibly? The entities have been shown to not really play nice with technology… but there was ALSO the video of the dude who ate his own computer so I’m honestly not sure what to think. I don’t know if it’s the Web, still. Honestly I don’t even know of Smirke’s Fourteen can be APPLIED here. This might be one of those instances where TMA listeners have to forget some things to make sense of this different world. But if it IS applicable to an entity, the best guess I have would honestly be the Extinction. That might explain the EPA Polution Preventer (seems pretty extinctioncore), it might explain Jon Martin and (possibly!) Jonah here, having just come from an apocalypse/the end of the world/AN EXTINCTION EVENT, but aside from that? I honestly am not sure. Because we don’t know how many of the entities are actually intelligent. Sure they can like and dislike things but it’s kind of been very solidified in how much they aren’t very thinking, aside from the web.

So uh… what’s the deal? I have… no idea. I am frothing at the mouth in anticipation. I love this podcast. I love both of these podcasts… this is amazing… this is fantastic. I’m in love. Please anyone tell me if you have any ideas or counter evidence for any of this because I would LOVE to talk to you about all this!!

BIG MAGNUS PROTOCOL SPOILERS FOR EP 1 AND 2! YOUVE BEEN WARNED!

Ok I have a theory. Has this already been posted? Probably, but I'm brain rotting.

It's mainly based off of this bit in the transcripts (pls note im getting my transcripts from the unofficial transcript archive, however as far as I know these transcripts are still accurate and the the same as the official transcripts)

This is literally from the first episode, the first non-spoken lines are about a computer listening. No, sorry not listening eavesdropping. As a writer you wouldn't use the word eavesdropping unless it was ment to personify something. Maybe I'm looking too much into this, but like- this is only where my decent into tmp madness starts. Ofc Norris and Chester being voiced by Jonny and Alex heavily implies that some part of Jon and Martin's soul has been transferred into the computers, or programs, files, or whatever you wanna call it. There's not quite enough info to determine how much of them is trapped in the computers, but im quite certain more than just there voice is trapped. There's emotion in the voices, especially Martin's (because ofcourse there would be, my favorite poet-) once again personifying the computers. Now, im not sure if the eavesdropping computer was 'Norris' or 'Chester' or even 'Augustus.' At first I though 'Oh well lots of people are theorizing that Augustus is Jonah and I was convinced. Not the mention that supports my connection to the eavesdropping computer. Because ofcourse, Jonah would be eavesdropping, especially seeing as we're all theorizing that Gwen is related to Elias. (Bouchard lastname)

NOW. HEAR ME OUT. The Bouchard lastname isn't inherently connected to Jonah Magnus. Before Elias was possessed by Jonah, he was just some guy. I can't remember excatly what ep of mag that's in, but I distinctly remember someone mentioning how odd it was that Elias went from a low level position at the institute with issues of some kind? I forgot what kind? Anyways what I'm trying to say is while yes, it makes sense that Elias and Gwen are related, that doesn't mean Qwen has anything to do with Jonah. Especially since as far as I know, Jonah was obliterated. Like... he's gone gone- and this universe were listening in on is most likely (this might have been confirmed, I'm unsure) a whole alternate universe from the one the magnus archives took place in. Wait I think it was confirmed? Seeing as it burnt down in 1999 in this universe as far as I recall, and the tma podcast takes place in the mid 2010's. So pretty sure tma and tmp take place in different universes, tied togethor via the web. Think spider man into the spiderverse if your confused. (Sorry im really just rambling at this point)

Anyways. Now I'm thinking, the Jonah Magnus in the tma universe was destroyed.... meaning Augustus probably isn't Jonah? HOWEVER. I just though of something. Was the Jonah Magnus in the tmp universe destroyed??? Maybe he's just some guy who died before coming to use the power of the watcher, but... maybe not? Ok so... the main question I'm left with then is who's useing the computers to eavesdrop? Maybe it is this universes Jonah, whoever he's possessed this time... my bets on Lena, but that's a whole other theory that I don't feel like going on a tangent about rn. Maybe it's Chuch, Norris, and/or Augustus. Maybe Augustus is Annabelle? Idk.

Anyways, I'm gonna use this as a thread and add onto it the more thoughts I have on this :3

I just listened to the newest TMP episode and I’m one again thinking about Chester, Norris, and Colin.

Obviously Chester and Norris are on everyone’s mind being voiced my Jonny and Alex. Like we know our creators there’s no way there’s not at least a sliver of connection between these funky text to speech guys and the original Magnus Institute.

Even the first episode mentions The Magnus Institute and was voiced by Jonny oddly enough. I just think the obsession in that statement in particular and Sam’s reaction to it are very reminiscent of the original series.

Jon being the one to read the story about the institute is the first thing that jumps out, and then the one experiencing the institute being reckless and breaking so many rules of the chat board just *screams* the behavior of the first three archival assistants and their archivist. And Sam’s subsequent obsession with the story too, I mean this time it comes across as curiosity more than paranoia but that’s still so Jon of him to react in that way.

The statements read by Norris thus far just make me think of the connection even more. We all knew martin as the hopeless romantic of the two with his poetry and positive but determined outlook on the apocalypse in front of him, and to me these statements really capture that same feeling. His first statement being about doing anything to hear his lost loves voice again, even if it turned out to be a scam. Then episode three’s statement where the writer is so clearly decaying and falling away into the earth, and yet all he can focus on is when his love is coming back and when he’ll be able to see the sun again. It just feels so very Martin that both of these writers can’t help but to look for the light in their painful situations both literally and figuratively. Just. Like. Martin.

This is where Colin as a character and plot device becomes really interesting to me, because NO ONE knows as much about the computers and file system as much as he does. Admittedly, even he says it’s a shit show in there but still. If anyone is going to uncover the true origin of these voice bots or their connections to the statements it’s probably going to be him, or at least he’ll be the catalyst for it.

Even his own obsession and irritability with the app is so similar to that of Jon’s interest in the statements and entities of fear.

So my going theory is that later on, maybe by the end of the first season, there will be some connection established between Chester’s and Norris’s voice to what’s going on in the statements. Perhaps the Magnus institute will be mentioned again and Sam or Colin will find records of Jon, Martin, and the other characters from TMA. I would get even be shocked if the crew found some physical files (and the tapes ofc) which leads them to truly understand the weight of their work and the government organization itself.

Mentioning the tapes, the trope of the computers recording people like the tapes is definitely going to be a thing. Teddy not realizing his “station” is still on and recording in the first episode paired with Sam and Alyce’s faraway conversation in episode three make that very apparent to me. Hell, I wouldn’t be shocked if they cracked open a desktop and it’s just tape recorder components. It would at least explain the reason the technology is all over the place and why Jon and martins voices are contained in it. After all, the tapes followed Jon and Martin by the end of it was just completely tethered to him.

I also think Colin will be the first to die, sorry. And maybe it wouldn’t necessarily be a true death but given his attitude only three episodes in, I really do think he’ll be the first to be consumed by and/or killed by whatever the big bad is revealed to be this season.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside

A/N: this was done because i’m procrastinating on writing the second part of Not At All, so here i am with this one-shot. i kinda hate myself for it cause i made myself cry. help.

There’s a ringing on Jacob’s ears, How did it come to this? This didn’t make sense, this shouldn’t have happened. He was carrying a girl in his arms, the ache all over his body was long forgotten as his long legs kept on taking one hasty step after the other.

“Jacob lay her down. I’ll- I’ll look for something, just-“ A deep panicked voice pierced through his thoughts and suddenly he was now again aware of what was happening.

Bill helped Jacob lay (Y/N) down on the dusty wooden floor of an abandoned house that they just had the luck to stumble upon after apparating.

It was small and dusty, with broken windows and torn curtains but it could do. They were too far away from civilization and (Y/N) can’t take another hasty trip in her condition.

Jacob felt like something was lodged in his throat, he couldn’t speak. His mouth was dry and his hands were shaking as he took off his brown blazer and folding it to put it under her head.

“Papa would probably be upset right now, don’t you think?” Ask (Y/N) as she looked up at the ceiling with this eerie calmness that Jacob found unsettling. “Mama too, I don’t look forward to getting scolded again.”

“Don’t worry, we’ll promise to cover up for you. Just- wait.” Bill said, his voice controlled but Jacob could see it in his eyes, he was afraid. What does this mean?

Bill started searching in the kitchen and he could hear the hastily opening of drawers from where Jacob was kneeling next to his sister.

“Did I tell you that Dumbledore once offered me to become headmaster?” (Y/N) looked up at him, there was sweat on her forehead and her breathing was becoming labored. Hand on her chest.

“No, you didn’t.” It took a lot out of him to say it and he was proud of himself to not let the chill in his bones take hold of him. Jacob doesn’t know what to do, Bill was still frantically searching in the kitchen and the look in her sister’s eyes felt like she knows something he doesn’t.

“Yeah, well, I told him that I have to wait-“ She stopped, eyes creasing a little, “-to wait for a long time to gain his position.”

Bill cursed sharply in the kitchen before going out to look in the other rooms upstairs. He didn’t glance at them, he just didn’t want to. He kept searching.

“Professor McGonagall told me that I was fit for the job but she said it would be beneficial for me to become a teacher first and you know how Professor Flitwick likes to boast.” (Y/N) chuckled out but it looked painful to do.

“Just imagine the look on Professor Snape’s face once he realizes that we’ll be co-workers! Maybe I’ll teach him a thing or two about taking unnecessary house point from me, that’ll show him!”

Jacob gave her a weak smile and she gave one of her own. It’s quite strange how they were so much alike. “I’m sure you’ll be giving him quite a headache."

“Though which subject do I pick? Perhaps DADA? I’m pretty good at that subject, not to mention I’m a great dueler. Once I become a teacher I could maybe give Mrs. Norris a kick or two and there’s nothing Filch can do about it.”

“Or maybe I could be another healer, Madam Pomfrey had always told me that she needed a few extra hands.” (Y/N) gripped her shirt a little, sharp pain taking a little bit of her strength with her.

“Or maybe another Quidditch referee Like Madam Hooch. Or a substitute teacher for Professor Sprout in Herbology, or maybe something to do with Care for Magical Creatures like Professor Kettleburn.”

“I would see Hagrid every day and we’ll make those rock-cakes he’s so proud of. You know, now that I mentioned it, he’s gonna be a better teacher at Care for Magical creatures than me.”

“Liz would be so jealous, I bet she’s gonna know and fight me for the position.” She chuckled again.

“Penny’s gonna have to get in between us, I’m sure. Merula’s an ass, she’ll probably just watch, I don’t know why Penny married her but I can tell she’s happy.”

“Same with Barnaby and Tulip, I swear to Merlin, those two can be deadly. Hey, despite my great dislike for the Ministry, Tulip’s my favorite. They’re getting quite the reputation, especially with Barnaby getting famous for being second to one of the best duellers of all time.”

“Also Dora’s on her way to becoming a good Auror. I can feel it, Jacob. She’s part of something big and I just can’t wait to see what it is.”

Jacob nodded silently, he felt cold.

“Andre’s tailoring for Gilderoy Lockhart and I’ve never seen him so happy, I’m glad he got his dream job and met one of his idols. Ben became a healer himself and got a job at St. Mungo’s, even with those fears he had back when we were eleven. Not to mention he got to woo the devil herself! Ismelda may not look it but she shaped up, now that she’s finally away from her toxic family. She has a powerful voice, I’m sure she can change peoples mind's with her music."

“Rowan’s family business is now paying off with that new broom they released. It was her very own design, it’s a shame that I only got to use it once. It’s fast, very fast…”

Her strain that she’s holding back finally becoming visible and Jacob doesn’t know what to do, or what to feel. They lack the equipment, lack the medicine for whatever she got struck by. He felt useless and he hates himself for it.

“She didn’t get to be a professor but she’s glad to be with her family and being the one successfully handling the business. She told me herself.”

Jacob can feel his eyes welling up. It stings, with how he was staring unblinkingly at (Y/N) while she spoke.

“You know, you should tell Angelica how you feel once we get back home, I can see how much you like her. If what Felix, Chester, and Jane told me was true then you wouldn’t have a problem with her saying no.”

“Jacob-” She called him and he couldn’t stop the tear that went down his cheek. “Jacob, I can’t feel anything. My whole body’s going numb.”

Jacob choked back a sob, “Tell mom- Tell everybody that I’ll be gone for a while. I just need to rest my eyes is all. I’m just really tired.”

“No (Y/N)-“ He hastily said, moving towards her to cradle her in his arms. “Listen, you’ll be fine, this is nothing compared to what you’ve been through.”

Jacob could see it become visible at her collarbone, a black colored vein starting slowly rising. It was already on her arms and most definitely on her legs as well.

“You can go through this just hang on. We’ll figure it out, big brother will figure it out. Don’t worry.”

(Y/N) should be crying or terrified but instead she felt serene. Everything is numb and she couldn’t feel a thing but she felt calm. The pain stopped when the curse had finally settled and now it’s covering up her whole body with, what she could easily describe as poison.

She could hear the sound of heavy footsteps upstairs, despite it sounding almost echo-y by the second.

Upstairs Bill was panicking, fuckfuckfuckfuckFUCKFUCK!

There was only a metal bed frame that’s already rusting, an empty drawer and a broken lamp, the other two rooms were as empty as the last and he knew they were running out of time.

There’s nothing here, fuck, there nothing here! FUCK!

Bill ran down the stairs, the sound of weak wood and heavy boots filled the air. “Jacob-“

And he saw the man he usually sees as smug and confident crumble, hugging her sister to his chest with tears in his eyes.

“I’m here, big brother’s here. I’ll figure it out.” Bill hear him say weakly, almost as if he said it with certainty then a solution would pop up and it will help (Y/N) become better again.

He walked over them slowly. Bill didn’t want to give up, didn’t want to believe that (Y/N) is-

He wanted to do more, he felt like he could do more- should be doing more to help her but there’s nothing left. They were traveling for far too long and he’s sure Rakepick is out there somewhere looking for them.

Bill kneeled down next to (Y/N) and he could see the black vein-like curse travel from the side of her ear and on the back of her head slowly and he could tell that she’s gonna be gone soon.

“I’m- I’m sorry (Y/N). I- I-“

Her eyes instantly looked at him and Bill couldn’t hold back his tears, hands in his hair smoothening it back. “I wish I could- but I-“ He bawled out.

“Charlie….” She muttered and Bill’s eyes shot up and Jacob gripped her tighter.

“I wonder what he’s doing.”

(Y/N) gave him a small smile, eyes shining like the day he met her in the Training Grounds, before closing them.

Her face relaxed, her chest stopped moving, and Jacob’s loud cry was enough of an indication that she was no longer going to be able to walk this earth she blessed with her short presence.

It was cold.
