the fact that i can’t find a SINGLE pacific rim au for dead boy detectives is fucking crazy. literally find me a duo better suited to co-piloting a jaeger than edwin and charles you CAN’T

like. edwin as the incredible pilot and brilliant strategist who can’t pilot anymore because he can’t drift with anyone (maybe bc of trauma from whatever hell is in this au?? or for extra knife twisting bc his last copilot was niko who died in a fight while they were in the drift and he had to pilot their jaeger back to shore alone) and charles as the reckless (rookie?) pilot who’s a natural fighter and can drift pretty well with almost anyone but hasn’t ever managed to find a really good match until edwin??? who’s terrified of losing another copilot and still has visceral memories of what happened when niko died, of how he knows what it feels like to be torn apart while you’re still awake????? and meanwhile charles is desperate to protect his copilot no matter what the way he couldn’t protect his mom but can’t bring himself to stop trying to keep his childhood a secret?????? come the fuck on its PERFECT
