I think the fact that they *arent* romantic makes their relationship that much stronger in my eyes?? Like these two are fucking HORRIBLE for each other. One of them is a slightly bloodthirsty bastard with only two sides to him (save everything or kill everything, theres no in between on this bitch) and the other one is John. AND THEY CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT EACH OTHER (obviously literally but also WHATEVER WERE MOVING ON). These two fucking lunatics cannot and will not survive without the other one pulling them back from doing the most deranged thing known to man.

If they were romantically interested, you’d be able to just chalk up everything to ‘oh it’s cuz they love each other and want to stay together’ or something. WHICH IS FINE, but I simultaneously think that it is so much deeper (and funnier) if it’s just unrestrained need and carnal desire for each other. LIKE, ROMANTIC ISNT THE WORD TO DESCRIBE THAT. The ‘want’ that they have is full of bloodlust and hatred and spite BUT NOTHING ELSE IN THE UNIVERSE UNDERSTANDS ME LIKE HE DOES AND I NEED HIM TO STAY WITH ME DESPITE IT ALL.

malevolent is objectively more impactful when you interpret john and arthur as non-romantic. i would feel less emotions about them if they were dating. i would care about them less if they were romantic. alright? alright.
