insane to me how the first team to give both drivers a win this year is ferrari + there have been less podiums w/o ferrari than rb and i am drinking that hopium juice so fucking hard! (-24 and it's so close. so damn close!!!)

We have been talking about consistency a lot on the blog, and yes, the SF-24 and our drivers have been on it this year.

24 points makes this a full contest for the WCC in my opinion, and I have no reason to believe either Charles or Carlos will be less consistent in these coming months. So I expect that gap will close.

Red Bull are going to be contending with the cost cap, Checo may end up in a position where he doesn't get some upgrades. The more he isn't on the podium the closer Ferrari get. Max is good but he cannot carry the WCC by himself this season, the math just doesn't work that way. Max could win every race the rest of the season, and if Checo isn't consistently in the top 3 the WCC could still be lost.

That sounds like a very obvious statement but I pinkie promise there was logic there. It might not have been very good logic at all but it was there for sure.

The idea was that I can't sleep through my alarms if I don't fall asleep at all. Sadly, when I had that genius idea at about 11pm last night, I did not account for the fact that I Would Get Tired, Actually. I managed to stay up until about 5am on call with a friend but he ended up going to bed, and I decided I could probably get about 4 hours of sleep in safely.

That was the real blunder. I slept through the SEVEN ALARMS I set and woke up at 10:53. As you may or may not be aware, the F1 75 live event tickets went on sale at 10am GMT, so I was 53 minutes late. I went to the ticket website anyway, hopium in my heart, and it made me sit in a queue for 15 minutes only to inform me, predictably, that there were no tickets available.

I imagine this is how Lando Norris feels when he bottles a race.

gojo is dead, nobara is for sure dead, megumi is basically done for (we'll see him once more within the mind once yuuji does his soul cursed technique whatever bullshit on sukuna to have a talk but he's not coming back no more), and yuuji, the kid whose execution started this story, will be the only one left alive. gege said in an interview a while ago that he wanted to end jjk with either 1 of the main 4 dead, or only 1 of the main 4 alive. i think it's pretty obvious that person is supposed to be yuuji. "die surrounded by your friends" from the first chapter is going to turn into "all your dead friends will surround you". i am wholeheartedly convinced of this. i'm sorry, but after 3 years of having to sit through that worthless culling game arc leading to absolutely nowhere for our heroes, after realizing that there will never be a pay off for the last 100+ chapters because the whole point of the arc is now fucking dead just like that, i do not have it in me to have any faith nor hope in gege's writing skills. it's become painfully clear to me how mid that guy is at writing and how hard he is rushing towards the end. i have lost all faith and goodwill i used to hold for gege.

So if a Chiefs team with as many weaknesses as this one had could go through that brutal of a postseason lineup and still win it all, what team can possibly dethrone the Back-to-Back champs after they addressed their offensive deficiencies by drafting the fastest player in NFL Combine history? Well the god honest truth is, probably none! But who are we to tell you watching this season is a complete waste of time for 31 fanbases! For those of you getting high off hopium like us, here’s 5 teams that MIGHT have a shot at preventing the first ever threepeat.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Don’t be so quick to give up on Russ and Justin Fields in an Arthur Smith offense could be a game chang……we’re just fucking with you lol

Houston Texans

As unbelievable as Mahomes’ debut as the starter in his second year was, C.J. Stroud had one of the greatest rookie seasons of all time. And Houston has done everything possible to ensure he doesn’t experience a Sophomore slump with key additions such as Stefon Diggs, Joe Mixon, and even his college tight end in Cade Stover along with returning stars in Nico Collins and Tank Dell.

Pairing Danielle Hunter with Defensive Rookie of the year Will Anderson should also give Demeco Ryans all the firepower he needs to put opposing QBs’ asses in the turf as well. The real question is whether or not they’re ready to swim in the deep end of the AFC pool. If so, Stroud just might establish himself as the new sheriff in town and Diggs might not have to watch the Chiefs celebrate from the sideline for once.

Cincinnati Bengals

If there has been one boogeyman in Patrick Mahomes’ career, it’s Joe Burrow. Under Burrow, the Bengals have gone 3-1 against Kansas City, with the one loss coming in a highly controversial AFC Championship game where the Chiefs kept getting mulligans on 3rd & 9 due to officiating fuckery.

The Bengals missed the playoffs last year at least in part due to injuries and will be without now former Offensive Coordinator Brian Callahan for the first time in Joe Burrow’s career. There’s also the ongoing contractual issues with Cincinnati’s favorite super weapon Ja’Marr Chase that may result in him missing games. Time will tell what kind of impact all of this will have, but at the very least the real Slim Shady appears to have stood back up.

Detroit Lions

Legitimately, is there a more fun team in football than the Detroit Lions right now? The perfect meld of old school ground and pound, new age passing concepts, and a Head Coach jacked on borderline lethal levels of espresso. While it’s easy to point out that the Lions already beat the back-to-back champs to kick start the 2023 season (in their house no less), it’s important to note that two of the Chiefs most important players in Travis Kelce and Chris Jones missed that game. The latter of which, doesn’t get nearly enough credit for both of the Chief’s Super Bowl wins over another team featured in this article (oops spoiler alert).

What Detroit…..devout? Dedicated? Whatever the fuck their fans call themselves, should focus on is how much better they got throughout the year and how they had the Chiefs’ eventual Super Bowl opponent (spoiler spoiler spoiler!!!!) on the ropes until a miraculous halftime comeback for the ages. With an offensive line that imposes its will in a manner that would make Weinstein blush, a dynamic duo at RB in Gibbs & Montgomery, an alpha Receiver & an end-zone magnet Tight End, a force off the edge who finished 2nd in QB pressures last year (101) and a QB who can reliably orchestrate it all, the Lions have all the ingredients to put a dent in the Kansas City dynasty.

San Francisco 49ers

Pure seething hatred alone might will this victory into existence. Seriously, what did Kyle Shanahan do to the scriptwriters to make them hate him so much. Popping Dre Greenlaw’s Achilles in a Super Bowl this team was dominating early on? A muffed punt? And let’s not forget the overtime debacle, that added a nice twist from the last time Mahomes & Co ripped the Faithfuls’ hearts out of their chest. Tinfoil hats aside, this team’s sexual frustration has to make Tiger Woods look celibate.

All of that said, why include them as a threat to a Quarterback they’ve literally never beaten? Well for starters, Vegas has them neck and neck with Kansas City to win it all and we all know how much they hate losing (right right off with the tinfoil hat). But more importantly Brock Purdy, every analysts’ favorite punching bag, took Mahomes and this dynastic roster to overtime on the biggest stage in his first full season as a starter. San Francisco just has to hope him having a proper offseason is enough to overcome all the Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams drama and they just might have a shot at finally getting out from Andy Reid’s shadow. Week 7 will offer a nice preview of this one.

Baltimore Ravens

Ah yes, it all comes down to the the matchup that will kick start the whole 2024 ride in approximately 3 hours from the time of this writing. Baltimore has been the standard of the NFL from the Front Office down in the Lamar Jackson era. Yet despite being the darlings of the analytics community in that time, they’ve only won one of five matchups against Mahomes’ Chiefs. Which begs the question is this really a rivalry?

Despite being NFL Royalty against the rest of the league, Baltimore needs something more to gain the edge over the Chiefs and maybe just maybe, that something is a King.

After helping end Baltimore’s season just a few short years ago, Derrick Henry is now hoping to help the Ravens extend their season one more game than last year and cement the legacy of his reign with a Lombardi Trophy. If Henry has lost a step, it’s hard to envision this team toppling Kansas City with key losses to their Defense and O-Line. But if he can be the transformational piece the Ravens signed him to be, they just might have the best chance at ending the dynasty…..well maybe for a year.

The trailer we saw at TGA primarily centered around her (and Lou), DS2's first promo photo is meant to directly parallel DS1's first photo (Fragile cradling Lou vs Sam cradling Lou's BB Pod), and Kojima has said that DS2's gameplay is designed to be completely new yet nostalgic for those who played DS1.

i'm genuinely curious... is it even possible to win in states like florida and texas at this point? even in georgia, after it flipped blue in 2020, the republicans rushed to make things even harder for marginalized voters (i'm pretty sure that's why this runoff is happening a month earlier? i could be wrong, but that's what i've read). with everything so divided between the democrats and literal fascism in the gop, i feel like every time we make any kind of progress they'll strip it back and make things even more difficult. i really don't mean this to sound cynical, and i'm so sorry if it does, i'm just curious. i wasn't old enough to vote in 2016 (i still had a few months before i turned 18) so i feel like my experience w elections in this country has generally been so much division that's only gotten worse

Yes, it is possible, and I'll tell you why:

Fascism is not inevitable.

This is not Pollyanna-ing, or "hopium," or whatever else the professional doomsayers like to jump in with (borne of the same school of thought that brands happy endings in fiction "unrealistic," because clearly the Real World is nothing but pain and suffering all the time) whenever someone expresses cautious optimism for the future, as if it's a coolness contest to see how to be the most pessimistic all the time. I'll tell you how I know: because if the Republican Party in its current incarnation thought that its ideas were genuinely popular or actually supported by the American public (and not just a grudging corollary of WAH WAH GAS PRICES!), they wouldn't spend absolutely ALL THEIR TIME doing their damndest to suppress voters. They wouldn't dwell endlessly on imaginary fraud, make endless voter suppression laws, run psyops convincing younger (and thus liberal-leaning) people that it's a waste of time to vote, etc etc. They are SHIT SCARED of any change that makes it easier for the general public to vote, because they know if they do, those people will vote, the Republicans will lose power, and due to the shifting demographics that see old Republican voters dying out and picking up only a minority of the next generation, they will not get it again. They are especially horrible right now because they are TERRIFIED, especially after seeing those Gen Z numbers for the Democrats. But because youth turnout overall was still bad, they likewise bought themselves a few years more to hang on. Still, the future is ours, not theirs, and they are fucking losing it.

Basically, the gamble the GOP made in this election was that they could howl about The Economy (which is doing shockingly well overall, despite high inflation etc), and voters would just ignore all their ludicrously dangerous nutcase beliefs on abortion, democracy, election denialism, etc, and vote for them anyway, even though they offered absolutely no plan to fix it apart from their usual method of blaming the Democrats for everything. Well, to say the least. That did not work. Election deniers running for positions where they could majorly influence state elections got across-the-board thumped, and abortion rights won everywhere, even in home of Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul (ugh) Kentucky. Voters do care about The Economy, but they also do care about basic things like bodily autonomy and representative democracy, and they aren't willing to throw those things away and go full MAGA even if WAH WAH GAS PRICES. That matters, and it will also matter in 2024, when we have to do this all over again.

Likewise, the Republican establishment/media is finally starting to visibly turn on Trump-- not because he's literally the worst person alive, but because they're realizing what an electoral liability he is, and all they care about is power. Once Trump is in the way of that, they will get mad at him, but Trump won't go away quietly and will do his best to burn them down on the way out. If the GOP is turning against Trump, there may also be less opposition if or, pray God, WHEN the DOJ finally fucking indicts him and drags his stupid orange ass to jail. That is likewise a good thing.

Anyway: yes, Democrats (and democracy in general) can win in Florida and Texas, if they put in the bottom-up effort rather than immediately trying to flip the flashy and high-profile offices. Both of those states have been institutionally designed to maintain the crazies' power, and it works very well. But if people keep putting in the work, it will not be forever, and the Republicans know the tipping point is not far in the future. There are more of us than there are of them. Fascism is not inevitable. It works by disheartening you and making you decide that there's no point in fighting, because it will just happen anyway. That is not true, and it needs to be challenged whenever it turns up as "received wisdom." Because. Yes.

Anyway, once more and as ever: Vote every election, especially if you are under age 45. Vote Blue. Make the Fascists Big Sad. Repeat.

In 2017, the price of Bitcoin peaked at the end of the year (mid-December) around $19k. This was following a massive, lightning-fast bullrun that is now the stuff of legend around here. The FOMO of that year has made many of us crypto enthusiasts who we are, quite honestly.

Here is that peak highlighted on the Rainbow chart:

But let's back up a little. Where was Bitcoin in, say, mid-October of 2017?

The price of Bitcoin on October 12, 2017 was $5,600.

This means that from mid-October to mid-December of 2017, Bitcoin skyrocketed from $5,600 to over $19,000. That's a growth of 343% in 2 months. That's a fucking rocket if I've ever seen one.

Now, let's extrapolate.

Ignoring for a moment the sheer amount of money that would be required to be injected into Bitcoin in order to move the price this much, let's just speculate for a second.

If Bitcoin followed the same trajectory from now until mid-December that it did during the same period in 2017, it will be...

One hundred and eighty one god damn thousand dollars.

That's right. Let that sink in.

You don't even need the comforting colors of the rainbow to tell you this. Bitcoin's price today ($57,600) plus a growth of 343%, is even higher than that estimate, at $197,500.

The reason this has become eerily predictable is because of the halvings. If you don't know what a Bitcoin halving event is, you can read more about it here.

Now, of course, this means a tripled marketcap as well. Can the marketcap for Bitcoin really reach $3 trillion? Depends on who you ask. Myself and many others believe that is likely still small peanuts when we're talking about a global digital currency being adopted in increasing measure around the world. We're still pretty early.

Catalina's theory of hope had nothing to do with the plan Manuel had already conspired against them. She did not think the pair would end up together. She just hoped that whatever agreement they came up with would be amicable in some capacity. Ideally, that no party is forced into something they're against, and the child is provided for in the best way possible. ❝ Let's hope that you don't have to get married off and everyone walks away happy. It may not be realistic, but we can steal some unrealistic, optimistic hopium for today. ❞ It is easier said than done. She knew Manuel would never allow things to be that easy but she did not what to say the direction he'd go in. Catalina knew him well yet he did end up surprising her. She felt he had another trick up his sleeve. It felt nice to have someone like Cat that she could speak to about things that the male did that frustrates her. Not only that but she knew the other femme looks out for her whenever she offers advance how to handle him or insight on how he works. Cause it is pretty obvious that she doesn't know him the way she thought she did , and not only that but who else could guide her when it comes to Manuel other than the woman that knows him best. ❝ I want to believe that he wouldn't be able to do such a thing , --- but I will be sure to do my best to not be fooled by him again. Between the two of us , I am not sure if this is ever anything that I ever wanted for myself. ❞ Melina is referring to the idea of being a mother. Sure she loves children which is why she became a teacher , but she never seen herself as having any of her own tiny humans. Yet when she found out that she is pregnant she knew that she'd go through with it. Motherhood definitely is going to be a new adventure for her but she can only hope that even though the child isn't the other femme's that she will be there beside her during it. ❝ I get it and I understand that it may take some time to get use to but I hope you know that I am being serious. You've done more for me than you may realize. ❞ A soft smile forming upon Melina's lips in hopes that Cat realizes how much she appreciates her.

Melina can't help but let out a soft sigh at femme's words because she believes greatly that her father isn't going to allow things to continue between the two. She is pregnant not married or even engaged. Her father is going to want to find some lie to sell to people about the actual truth. ❝ That is where I think you are wrong Cat , I don't believe that I am going to get a happy ending. Once my father finds someone to agree with go along with whatever cover up he comes up with he will make sure that I have limited contact with Manuel. I believe whatever the outcome is , I'm going to be the one hurt in the end ... ❞ Melina isn't even sure what to expect from Manuel when her father sets things in stone for her future , because she doubts her old man will include the man that impregnate his daughter. The way Cat spoke about her own situation made it sound like it is even messier than her own. ❝ What makes you believe that she is suspecting that her husband is having an affair? Has he given you a reason to make you believe such a thing? Cat if he is bringing you happiness than milk it for as long as you can , but maybe he feels the same way back? ❞
