At the end of The Spy Who Loved Me, after the credits, it said that "James Bond will return in For Your Eyes Only". When Star Wars: A New Hope became a blockbuster, EON productions switched gears and on June 29, 1979, Moonraker was released in theaters. EON invested more money than any of their previous Bond adventures by a significant amount. The movie had the bad guy's laire being a space station, the abduction of space shuttles (something still in the testing stages during production), and the climatic battle being fought in open space with lasers. It also marked Bernard Lee's last appearance as M. It was also noteworthy for being one of the few times where the Henchman (in this case Jaws) appeared in more than one movie. ("Moonraker" flm, event)

Christopher Lee is 'The Man with the Golden Gun' on HBO Max
The British super spy with a license to kill takes on his dark underworld double, a classy assassin who kills with golden bullets at $1 million a hit in The Man with the Golden Gun (1974). Roger Moore, in his second outing as James Bond, meets Christopher Lee’s Scaramanga, one of the most magnetic villains in the entire series, in this entertaining but rather wan entry in the 007 sweepstakes.…

Assassin Creed characters in Love Island tv show??
I’m gonna be honest with you, nonny, I rarely watch reality tv shows. I think the reality show I actually watched more than three-ish episodes was the original The Mole.
Lucky for you, nonny, my older sister loves reality show so I have watched a few episodes of Love Island XD
This will be unorganized-ish though XD
For this one, we’ll set it up that people gets kicked off the same ‘pattern’ that their games are released. This does mean…
Altaïr would be the first to be kicked off the island. And then the audience would want him back after the island devolves into more chaos the more people gets booted off and shipped to. This has the whole “the series was better when he was there” kind of vibe. Outside of the island, he’s making a name for himself because he’s a scientist/professor and there are rumors he agreed to the whole thing just so he could get his name out there and find support for his actual research XD
Ezio is the main audience favorite. There’s a lot of unabashed female gaze shots. It seems the crew has a mandatory at least 1 female gaze Ezio shot each episode. The problem with Ezio is that he really has no ‘exclusive’ partner. Sometimes, his partner gets booted off and he’ll be shipped to the next one. There’s the possibility that the audience is deliberately kicking off his partners so he can stay single lollol
Ratonhnhaké:ton entered the island because he learned his father is in it. He’s there pretty much to sabotage his father by telling him that he was raised by his mother and that he only learned that Haytham is his father when he was like 16. They keep the Kenway father and son duo for the drama. And also… they like to sabotage each other’s dates.
Then Granddad Edward enters the fray after Haytham’s last ‘partner’ gets kicked off (she tried to seduce Ratonhnhaké:ton, gasp) and he’s really just there to flirt and drink. His very existence causes damage to Haytham’s ‘calm’ expression and Ratonhnhaké:ton thinks he’s strange but nice.
Desmond is there since the beginning and he sorta fades in the background most of the time. He’s the chill nice dude who acts more like a bartender than a contestant. Even after he was kicked off, he stayed on the island as the bartender and has a mini section called ‘Confessing to Desmond’. The dude applied because he had no other jobs.
Arno is nice and sweet and really, he should be an audience favorite. Should be. However, he talks about his ex a lot and that turns a lot of people off. Then the whole “wait, your ex is your foster sister???” thing came into light and weeeeeeelllll… no one was really surprised when he got kicked off. Shame though because…
Arno had so much chemistry with Jacob Frye. Really, such a shame. Then he started to ‘date’ Maxwell Roth and the audience is pretty sure Evie Frye came into the island to stop Jacob from getting in to deep because (1) she admits she has a boyfriend and (2) she came to tell Jacob that Arno got in touch with her. She was booted off the island for ‘outside tampering’, whatever that meant.
Bayek was placed into the island to add more ‘stability’ to the order left behind by the whole Evie ArnoJacob messenger Frye thing. It sorta worked? He has an ex-wife but they divorced amicable. Then his ex visited the island for a special episode and everyone just agrees that, yeah, no one is gonna top Aya.
Basim is charming and cute with a chip on his shoulder that makes him more engaging to watch. He is also chaos incarnate and really, the less said about the accidental burning of one of the huts, the better.

viscerawrites' oc showcase series ; an introduction & masterpost
Hello everyone! While my wips are currently in something a state of limbo, I still want to share my writing and my characters here, as they are truly my biggest passion!
As such, I am starting a series of "oc showcases", wherein I will pull from a list of prompts I've made for myself and talk about the chosen characters in relation to them. Most of these prompts are specific questions about my characters, but I plan on incorporating songs as well, as music is my biggest inspiration when it comes to characters (and my wips, of course).
This specific post is mostly for my own reference, but I will be adding links as I go, for quick access - and hopefully someone else will find someone they're interested in :3
As my characters typically come in groupings, most posts will likely be addressing several characters at once. Of course, I will do my best to make it as clear and concise as I can :]
Below the cut is a list of character groupings (usually sorted by wip or world and connection) who you can (currently) expect to hear about soon. I am so excited to share my babes with y'all <3

hi! I have an incarcerated friend who is very religious and thoughtful/curious about the world. I enjoy sending him books, but I think he would appreciate books about his interests with a religious bent and I’m not christian myself. I’m wondering if you have any recommendations for books related to community, restorative justice, mentorship, self-love, or self-understanding through a christian lens? thank you and no worries if this is too tough or specific a question!
this is a really lovely message, and a lovely think for you to think of doing- i wish all the best for you and your friend, and i will keep him in my prayers, for healing and peace.
i've tried to select books that are pretty easily accessible and inexpensive to purchase rather big academic texts- there's lots of those and i can rec them if you'd like, but i'm just not sure how easy they would be to obtain or share.
the book of forgiving: the fourfold path for healing ourselves and our world by desmond and mpho tutu is one of the most beautiful books i've ever read about guilt and healing.
made for goodness: and why this makes all the difference by desmond and mpho tutu
a theology of restorative justice: healing the broken world by dr maxwell shimba
jesus the liberator: a historical-theological reading of jesus of nazareth by jon sobrino
justice and love: a philosophical dialogue by rowan williams- slightly more accessible might be williams' trilogy being christian; being disciples; and being human, all of which are lovely, self-reflective books
the return of the prodigal son by henri nouwen
the wounded healer: ministry in contemporary society by henri nouwen (this is a bit out of left field, but it's about being of service to the church or your community if you've found yourself unable to operate within tradition methods because they are threatening or you have been excluded- this is something that resonates for me, and that imagine could resonate with your friend as well).
these books are not really theological texts, but they are what i read when i was beginning to cope with my own feelings of guilt, grief, and self-worth- they are, short easy reads, widely accessible, and just nice to have.
waiting for god by simone weil
the cloud of unknowing
the mirror of simple souls by marguerite porete
revelations of divine love by julian of norwich
the long loneliness by dorothy day
mother maria skobtsova: essential writings

For Good Friday, here's a little bit of queer Christian history: In 1993, painter Maxwell Lawton envisioned the crucified Christ with AIDS. Archbishop Desmond Tutu loved and defended Lawton's painting.
ID: a white genderqueer person with short brown hair sits in front of a candlelit altar. A couple other images pop up during the video — find them under the readmore.
Tumblr media
"Man of Sorrows: Christ with AIDS" by Maxwell Lawton. This painting depicts Jesus nude except for his crown of thorns, with one hand on his knee and the other cradling his head. His skin is gray and covered in AIDS lesions. A quote from Matthew 25 is written in the background of the painting: "Then the king will reply, whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did to me."
Tumblr media
ID: A photo of Lawton, a white man with short brown hair, standing next to his painting in the Cape Town cathedral, with stained glass behind him. The painting is very large, so that Jesus is close to life size.
Tumblr media
ID: A drawing of Jesus in a crucified position by Carlos Latuff; Jesus’s loin cloth thing is a rainbow flag. Text reads “Queering the Cross, Burial, and Resurrection. Episode 58 of the Blessed Are the Binary Breakers podcast.”

Its the hour before sunrise, my favorite time of the day.
I'm at home sinking into my recliner in the breezeway,
There's a lemon scented citronella candle flickering on the coffee table.
It certainly does help in keeping the mosquitoes from bothering my exposed skin.
I have a standing fan in the corner, it sweeps a 45 degree angle and teases me with cool air every 5 seconds.
I like to listen to soft and slow instrumental jazz on mornings like this, and this time it's Paul Desmond.
Music like this soothes my mind, it's just so soft and dreamy.
Each to their own I suppose.
I just like to sit here and watch the night fade away, just passively observing the sky between the trees become lighter.
I'm mostly surrounded by pine, oak, sycamore and palm trees.
It seems in my neighborhood that there are more trees than people.
Eventually, sunlight stretches across my driveway and yard and brings the three houses into view from my seated perspective.
I also like to listen to the birds chirping, chattering and squawking.
I'm drinking Maxwell House coffee flavored with Caramel Machiato creamer.
I'm not thinking of anything, I'm just watching and feeling the morning come into view.
Sometimes where I live, it's so quiet, you can literally hear a pin drop.

✨weekly(ish) fic roundup✨
more like monthly at this point, but here are some excellent fic I’ve enjoyed in the recent past! most are long fic, so buckle up and prepare to leave some kudos and comments for these a+ authors.
ASoIaF
Coin and Conformity - catelyn stark | oc insert/ned stark
A man wakes up one day to find that he isn't in his apartment, isn't in his own body, and isn't even on Earth anymore. The language, the geography, the culture, the stars, and even the technology level are all different. Even worse, in this backwards medieval society he had found himself in, he woke up in the body of a woman. A woman who had just given birth to her first child, a son.
He's not really cut out for this whole 'motherhood' thing. It could be worse; at least he's a noblewoman, and really, Robb is such a sweet child...
Assassin’s Creed
Eagle of Alamut - altaïr ibn-la’ahad/desmond miles wip
That the reason why he woke up in the city of Jerusalem during the 12th century was because of something [Minerva] did.
Still…
He would have appreciated it if she didn’t also return him to his 16-year-old body.
Dragon Age
The Comfort of Knives - cullen rutherford/male inquisitor wip
Maxwell Trevelyan isn’t who he says he is, and his connection to the General of the Red Templars could become a problem. But will it be as much of a problem as the affection that grows between himself and his Commander?
Naruto
come out of the ashes - gen wip
As a final stand in a war they never stood a chance of winning, Uzumaki Naruto chooses to use a forbidden blood seal to rip through the fabric of space and time itself rather than admit defeat. He’s never been good at accepting his fate, and if bending reality with his own two hands is what it takes, then that’s what Naruto will do.
The rest of the world is just going to have to suck it up and deal with it.
Compass of thy Soul - uchiha madara/ofc complete, lots of delicious crafts and politics in this one
Being reborn into the Uchiha clan during the Warring Clans Era is surprisingly idyllic, so long as you don't mind hard work and are too young to know any of the people who are actually dying. But innocence never lasts, and trying to help family stay alive is a road strewn with a surprising number of pitfalls and last-minute diversions.
Reincarnation For the Win - female self-insert/uchiha itachi/uchiha shisui
She’d been tired for a long time before she died.  However she’d been granted a second life, she was never going to thank anyone for it, no matter how amazing or awful it ended up being.  That said, if she ever met the reason she was sucked into the Naruto ‘verse, there would be much shin-kicking to be done.
Until Dawn Breaks - uchiha shisui/undisclosed wip, part 2 of a timetravel AU
Shisui had succeeded, destroying the man who was responsible for his death, in every way possible. Who had caused so much suffering... more than anyone could have foreseen.
(He gasped for air, throat parched and lips chapped and-)
But now came the hardest part; learning to live again.
The Yondaime's Assistant - hatake kakashi/ofc/shiranui genma complete
When I reincarnated in the world of Naruto, I was lucky enough to live in Konoha but not lucky enough to get all the superpowers you could hope for. I failed my jounin-sensei test and ended up in the Genin Corps. Bye-bye jounin rank! However, considering it also meant avoiding the battlefield, that was fine with me. Now I just had to get a position allowing me to change History...
One Piece
Children of the Sea - fushichou marco/portgas d ace wip
When it comes to Ace, Marco can't help but think of the old saying: Love is a hurricane.
(Time-traveling Ace, told from Marco's POV.)
SVSSS
Cultivate: Slow Life on a Monster-Infested Mountain - shen yuan/liu qingge wip
When trying to transfer Shen Yuan from the real world to Proud Immortal Demon Way, the System runs into an error. The transfer is not complete.
Shen Yuan is dropped off at the foot of a mountain aware of two things:  he's in the story, and the Shen Qingqiu of this world is not only aware but thinks he tried to possess his body — and he's PISSED. Shen Yuan tries to opt out and live a simple life on what locals tell him is a monster-infested mountain no one in their right mind would bother with.
Sounds like a great hiding spot!
(TL;DR: Stardew Scum Villain Valley Mountain.)

The 25th anniversary Bond film and first Bond film since Roger Moore retired, The Living Daylights premiered on July 31, 1987. Pierce Brosnan was set to take on the Bond mantle when at the last moment, the makers of the TV show Remington Steele decided to capitalize on all the Bond buzz and hold him to a new season of the cancelled show. This was a failure as the new season only managed 6 episodes before cancelling. The failed season also prevented Steele costar Stephanie Zimbalist from taking a major role in the sci fi blockbuster Robocop. Brosnan was replaced by Timothy Dalton who had decided to pass on the role years earlier because at the time he felt he was too young. However, he only made one more movie before the franchise was forced into hiatus. After years of limbo, Dalton decided to move on and Brosnan was once more offered the role. The Living Daylights and the following Dalton movie both protrayed a Bond closer to the novels, possibly the closest till the Daniel Craig era years later. Following the success of the Duran Duran theme for View to a Kill, Ah-Ha of "Take on Me" fame was tapped for the theme song. Besides the darker and violent take on the character, the movie also had a couple of scenes of actual nudity outside of the opening credits (including Virginia Hey of Farscape). Long time iconic Bond composer John Barry made a cameo as a conductor in the movie. Walter Gotell returned as General Gogol (The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy and A View to a Kill), Robert Brown as M (Octopussy and A View to a Kill) and Desmond Llewelyn as Q (every previous Bond film except Dr No and Live and Let Die). For the first time in the series, the role of Moneypenny was taken over by Caroline Bliss. Previously, since the first film Dr No, the role of Moneypenny had been played by Lois Maxwell making her the most consistent actor to play a role in the Bond franchise. The title and opening teaser was based on a Bond short story written by Ian Fleming. ("The Living Daylights" movie event)

June Reading
I read a heck of a lot in June! In part because several of the books that I read were short, and in part because I spent almost all month reading at work (via audiobook) rather than mixing it up with podcasts and music like I normally do.
Might put some more specific thoughts in a reblog! Just not at the moment. If there are any specific books you want to hear my thoughts on, feel free to ask.
.
📝 — Writing research
⭐️ — Tried something new or stretched my horizons
🔵 — Comfort zone, reread, or sequel
.
⭐️ The Blade Itself and 🔵 Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie — I liked these! Planning to finish the trilogy.
🔵 Sandry’s Book by Tamora Pierce — A reread! The book holds up well.
⭐️ She Who Became the Sun by Shelley Parker-Chan — I liked this a lot! Planning to read the next one.
⭐️ If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin — I liked this for the most part, though the ending was abrupt.
🔵 Cry Wolf and 🔵 Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs — Nothing astounding, but entertaining enough.
🔵 Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy — Ditto, with just a few more complaints.
⭐️ Poverty, By America by Matthew Desmond Spectacular.
📝 The Deserters by Charles Glass — Read this purely for writing research, had little interest otherwise.
⭐️ Piranesi by Susanna Clarke — I loved this; entrancing at the beginning, interesting themes at the end.
⭐️ I Would Leave Me If I Could by Halsey — This was good! Halsey narrated the audiobook.
🔵 The Invasion by K.A. Applegate — Cheesy and deeply unsettling by turns. 😂
📝⭐️ Faraday, Maxwell, and the Electromagnetic Field by Nancy Forbes and Basil Mahon — Does a spectacular job of explaining various concepts.
