•I like to think at some point before the events of the film Louie found himself watching part of a performance at the circus from a distance. He probably hadn't even meant to watch the show without paying, but was just walking by and realised he could see what was going on through a crack in a fence or from a high hill he was sitting on or something. Anyway, Max caught him and exploded with rage at him for being a "thief!" and a "filthy, robbing vagrant!" and chased louie off, threatening that if he ever caught him watching the show without paying again he'd call the police. I think Jean might have witnessed just the tail end of the scene and had wanted to intervene and make sure Louie was OK, but he had scampered off in fear before she had a chance

That last one is just there because I love both Jean and Max(although for very different reasons as you might imagine lol) and I think it's a shame that we didn't have a scene with either of them interacting with Louie
